Things to do in San Miniato

We have just returned to Ireland after spending two weeks vacation in San Miniato, dining out frequently here and elsewhere in the provinces of Tuscany and Pisa. Without doubt, this restaurant is one of the best in the entire region!
The restaurant cooks outstanding meat and seafood dishes and also offers local truffle dishes. The staff are very efficient and attentive, without rushing you if you want to savour a leisurely meal. There is a choice of indoor or outdoor Seating, all with proper table linen and superb house bread. If you don't leave early, you might even meet the chef when he comes out to meet customers.
Our standout dishes included their signature grilled octopus, which was succulent with amazing texture and flavour, an inventive take on insalata caprese, which involved superb mozzarella with a tomato veloute, and main courses of homemade gnochetti dumplings with truffle and superb local seawater fish. See photos attached to this review.
If you're looking for dinner with a view, go elsewhere, but if you want superb flavours and a memorable meal, you won't be disappointed here! We will be back!

The best pasta in my life. Period. And sooo unexpected! Wild bore pasta and leek cream bacon ravioli coupled with fantastic family-like warm-hearted service! You should not try white chocolate mousse or you will dream about it whole night :) This dinner made our day!

I don't know how any times I've been in this restaurant during last 10 years. It's always a big plesure to have lunch or dinner here in Taverna dell'ozio a Corazzano. It is amazing what a wanderful , tasty food they can cook ! absolutly home made and real toscano dishes. Don't eat too much antipasti if you want to taste their pasta and bisteca fiorentina, tirami su etc. Be aware that you have to book at least two week in advance but the waiting time will be much compensated....And is not expensive at all. Congratulation to the team and the cook in Taverna . It's always a pleasure to be there.

Lovely Terrace table, looking out over a classic Tuscan landscape, we had a great meal.
Welcome glass of prosecco, amuse bouchée of I think ricotta, aubergine, then highlights included for our party; an anti pasti of courgette flowers stuffed with tomato and bread "soup", and deep fried, primi dishes of risotto and of ravioli in the colours of the Italian flag (and what mouthwatering flavours), tender fish, melting pork. Great value local crisp white wine. Breads we couldn't really manage but which looked lovely.
This is fun food, playful, but with a depth of flavour and due respect to vegetarians and carnivores alike. Friendly helpful service.

Staying in Cusignano we decided on recommendation that it was a good idea to visit Il Convio. We expected the usual good standard of Tuscan food and little else. My partner realised just how much she enjoys the humble truffle when presented with a dish with duck, truffles and tagliatelle which was a savoury delight. My eyes however were drawn to a duck dish battered with pistachio on a bed of fennel. Sweet and delicious, though the best was yet to come. The highlight of my own meal was a Basil infused delight in Panacotta which was even better than I could have hoped. Friendly service and great, inspired food.

We arrived at Pisa airport, leaped into our hire car and fled to Umbria.
This restaurant was a pit-stop on the way.
Absolutely exquisite food, served in a wonderful atmosphere, a balcony over-looking the Tuscan hills.
Slow food, but worth the wait. Leave your instant and fast-food expectations at home, this was about taking the time to listen to the waiter, and follow his very well informed advice.

Could see this was a local favourite on trip advisor so sought it out. Restaurant appearance don't do it justice. Food and service are excellent. Pizza a big hit with the family. By 9 am inside and outside were full!

This place was definetly the worst during our holiday. Started with an explanation what the didn't have, took too much time to prepare, quality of the food was not as it should be, and presentation was awfull. Last but not least the invoice was not correct. Three mistakes! They increased the invoice with over 10 euro.
Seems as if this is a new owner who has no passion for cooking.
Note. Chinese boy and girl who were serving did their utmost best.

Insaccati E Sughi Locali, Macelleria
This is a seriously delicious LOCAL restaurant with a view to die for. We were sent here for lunch by a local business associate. You walk though their butcher shop through their kitchen to a back patio with that incredible view- what a find!
Lunch was an antipasto plate of fantastic quality pork and cheese items. Next was a fresh bean soup that was outstanding. Next course was an amazing maialino that was so perfectly cooked and accompanied by the BEST mashed potatoes we've ever had anywhere! (plus they brought us a taste of a squash dish others were having which was great too). Lunch ended with some homemade biscotti.....perfect. All in all, this was the surprise meal of our trip...great view, fabulous food. Plus, we talked with 4th generation owner Andrea, who wow'd us about the history of his store. Fantastic find!

We were en route to Pisa airport and decided to stop and find somewhere for lunch. It was lunchtime in August but the restaurant was quiet. The menu looked good so we decided to give it a go. We were not disappointed. After a complimentary amuse-bouche we enjoyed starters of tongue and a pecorino and nectarine dish. Both were absolutely delicious - light and very flavourful. The tongue - which we were not sure about when we ordered - was a delight. Light and delicate flavours. Even the kids loved it. We only had time for pasta - egg spaghetti with lemon and mint and I think a local cheese - and a delicious and Guinea fowl ragu with homemade tagliatelle. Both were delicious. We wished we could have stayed for second course but sadly had to dash for our plane. Next time....
