This place caught us by surprise...
Love sitting out at the wide open backyard,
overlooking verdant paddy fields, with view of Mt. Merbabu.
The food and service are reasonable
but more than enough to complement the uniquely natural ambiance.
Will come back again when I am in Salatiga town.

We often dine here, the two of us or with guests. We think it is the best fresh water fish restaurant in town. Our favourite dishes are "gurame asam-manis", "gurame bakar sate" and "gurame bumbu bali".
One has the choice to sit on western chairs and tables, or "lesehan" i.e. the Indonesian way on the floor at low tables. The latter are built over the ponds where the fish are reared; you can feed them with left-overs.
"Mina Kencana" is Literary Javanese for goldfish. However there are no goldfish on the menu. There is another restaurant of the same name and owner on the road to Solo, but not the same cook. We tried it and found the food not as tasty as in the resto on the road to Bringin.

I'd visited many KFC restaurants, I can tell KFC-Salatiga is one of the best KFC since they have Children Playground, Free Wi-Fi and friendly staffs and they don't force the customers to buy the CDs (like in some KFC stores that have been written in social media)

My favorite solo hangout spot. The cafe design is unique, the coffees are great, and WiFi is excellent.
I don't really buy silence here since it's situated next to road and that music is always on, somehow the nuance with excellent greenery makes it perfect to do assignments or simply Reading here. Sounds nerdy but not really, really!

If you like good comfort food and dont care about the atmosphere Beringin is a good deal. The resto lies infront of the hotel and has the looks of a factory mess. Luckely the quality and quantity of the food is very good.
If you like ham this resto is a good choice.

Since my extended family live almost all over Indonesia, here's their favorite place when visiting Salatiga. Ronde Jago is always an irreplacable legendary premium Ronde for me! Mie Kopyok and the Batagor seems perfect to spoil our tummy. Must try guys, must try.

Beda dengan sate sapi yg biasa saya makan.. Enak sekali meski tempat ny sederhana.. Located just across Grand Wahid Hotel Salatiga, it's worth to try when you get bored with Hotel's food. The server was polite and cheerful. There's a bakso/meatball, and chicken satay too.

Cocok dikunjungi penikmat sate kambing.

It's really happy to see small shop bakery, sell the various of bakpao and bun. Unfortunately there's some limited stock for the bakpao and buns were sold on that sunday afternoon. Available stock only for Hammen Worst and Cheese Mung Bean filler in bakpao. While the bun only avilable for meat and chocolate.
Looks so happy to see, that the display case was empty because of already sold out. Many people from far away come to buy, i met person from Semarang buy a lot of quantity. Famous one bakpao's shop in Salatiga.
It's non halal shop, so no one could easily eat this bakpao. But i love it. Only feeling poor that i couldn't get the pork meat filler bakpao.
