Have not seen double scoop cones since I can't remember when -- 2 ice cream "cups" on one cone stem. The ice cream had the clean taste of childhood memories of home made ice cream rather than all the thick custardy ice cream of today.

Established in 1990 by Hank and Jackie Johnson, Chaumette Vineyards & Winery is located in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, home of the first colonial settlement on the west side of the Mississippi River by the French in the early 1730’s. Chaumette sits on 310 acres of land, 30 acres of which are grapevines, approximately seventy miles south of St. Louis, in the Ozark Mountain American Viticultural Area. The region, distinguished by rolling hills and the Saline Creek River Valley, is known to have a temperature differential of more than 5 degrees (warmer) compared to other Missouri wine regions, which is considered to be advantageous. Here at Chaumette, we are dedicated to handcrafting award-winning wines of distinction, and our diverse portfolio reflects the finest examples in breadth and depth of Midwest wine, capable of competing in the international marketplace. We grow varieties such as Norton, Missouri’s state grape; Chardonel, a hybrid of Chardonnay; Traminette, similar in style to one of its parent grapes, Gerwurztraminer; Chambourcin and Vignoles, all French-American hybrids. Chaumette is a boutique winery, producing between three and five thousand cases annually of mostly dry wines, with some semi-dry and semi-sweet styles as well as vintage port and late harvest wines in some years. Chaumette Winery has is a premier wine resort destination, with a spa, private villas for overnight stays, a pool and a full-service restaurant, among more traditional winery amenities. Chaumette’s Tasting Room is open to the public year-round and offers live entertainment outdoors in warmer months.
This was our destination for a Sunday drive. We enjoyed wine tasting and then purchased a bottle of our favorite and enjoyed the beautiful setting while sipping our wine on their wraparound porch. We decided to eat dinner and had the filet from their daily special menu as well as their fish special. Both were outstanding. Our server, Tim, made the afternoon even more enjoyable by making food suggestions providing excellent service. What a beautiful setting for a winery and the staff and food make this place even more enjoyable. You won't regret coming here for a beautiful afternoon of relaxation, great scenery, and good food and wine.

After reading multiple reviews on the Anvil, we decided to have lunch at this eating spot. Onion rings were very good as many had previously shared in their reviews but I have had similar tasting onion rings elsewhere. I also had a cheeseburger that was good but average. A good place to eat overall.

Driving through the area, driving a truck, looking for a place to get a bite to eat and a place to fuel up the truck. Signage was obvious, the restaurant was easy to access from the road, and the parking area is LARGE. The place is a Dairy Queen in layout, lots of seating, very clean, and friendly staff. Stopped in about 2:30 PM, there was a special pricing for beverages, 50% discount. The food was quickly prepared, we got what we ordered, and it was fresh and tasty, not "Fine Dining" but pretty darn tasty. Warning, the rest rooms are located to the right of the order counter, the Men's Room was tiny, and a bit messy, probably evidence that the lunch rush had been heavy. Note to Management: have your Staff keep on top of checking the Rest Rooms frequently during busy periods, and then after a period of heavy use have them check the Rest Rooms, restock paper and soap, BEFORE they take a rest break. Leaving the parking area is easy, and well marked; I needed fuel for the truck, the Service Station next door was convenient!

Audubon’s Grill & Bar offers delicious food and drink in a family friendly atmosphere. Dine, relax, renew old friendships, and create new memories in our century old restaurant…where the past meets the present.
We had been here before and had terrible service. So bad, we left without giving our inept waitress a tip. Pretty great food though.
This night October 7, 2017 we thought would be better. We hoped. Restaurant changed hands so let’s try again right? When the bar tendress was having difficulty making drinks and keeping up with the waitress’s orders we knew this was a bad omen. 45 minutes to get seated with empty tables all around. 30 minutes AFTER we ate our salad to get food with no drink service until we found the hostess and complained. Then the second time 15 minutes elapsed before the hostess came back (not our waitress) to ask if everything was ok. We objected. When the food arrived the baked potatoes ordered were actually mashed potatoes served cold. The ribeye steak ordered was just about 1/2” thick and tasted like it had been microwaved. I sipped my beer because I didn’t want to be without while eating because I knew it would be 20 minutes before I got another. My Spatzle was terrific!! Her stuffed flounder is in the picture. This meal was smaller than half an appetizer! Look at the pic and compare the size with the tiny butter container. AND at $17.99 they should serve REAL BUTTER in a dish not little packets.
We arrived without reservations at 6:35 and left at 8:45.
There’s more but you get the drift. Bad service, good food, small portions (they not need to be gigantic) and for gosh sakes, keep the glasses full so the waiting is or could be somewhat tolerable.
The owners son, Mike was a gracious host and apologized and to his credit, reduced our bill substantially. We appreciated his concern. It’s doubtful we’ll try it again. Pity. We really want to enjoy this restaurant with huge potential.

This nondescript storefront restaurant is a hidden gem. It was recommended by three locals. The sandwiches and salads are fresh and large enough to split. And the mini cream pie slices were a must try item. This is said to be the best place in town!

Cafe Rust is a true blessing for Ste. Genevieve. This little gem of an eatery has delicious, fresh food to meet culinary desires not met in any other Ste. Genevieve establishment I could find. Although they do have meat dishes, vegetarians and vegans can find wonderful options here for breakfast and lunch. Cafe Rust is a true oasis. And the desserts!! Did I mention the desserts? YUM.

If you are visiting Ste. Genevieve, Sirro's is always a great bet for a meal. It's located right in the historic district, pretty much in walking distance of everywhere. They have an extensive menu, and I've eaten here countless times and only had one questionable experience. Definitely one of the better choices for a meal if you are visiting town.

Housed in a historic building, adjacent to other historical sites. Good food, good service. They have a buffet that features delicious fried chicken and melt in your mouth beef stew. Quiet comfortable surroundings. It has a small bar area that features mixed drinks.

We used to love this place but they are having trouble with their cook(s). They generally have good burgers and pub food but watch out for their specials. We ordered their liver and onion special and it was horrible. We are not sure why they would put something so bad on their menu. Is anyone watching the store there? It has gotten really slow on Friday and Saturday nights.
