We visited the White Heather in Laragh with Australian in-laws. They loved the scenery in Co Wicklow and our choice of restaurant did not disappoint. The food was excellent, the staff charming and really efficient. An eclectic mix of antiques filled the first room to create a warm country ambiance. A side room, however, was the big surprise. It housed a wonderful collection of first edition books by eminent Irish authors. Stunning! Do go.

The Conservatory is a hidden gem - a real find whilst we were exploring the Military Road south of Dublin, and well worth a visit, especially if you happen to be visiting Glendalough (one of Irelands most popular tourist destinations). The staff at The Conservatory are wonderfully friendly and hospitable, and the cafe/restaurant is so very quaint and gorgeous that was deservedly voted in The Bridgestone 100 best restaurants in Ireland 2010. It is an absolutely delightful and charming addition to the existing B&B.

It has had various online reviews:
http://www.independent.ie/lifestyle/property-plus/school-of-style-1311120.html
http://www.ireland.com/food/restaurants/the-conservatory/391500

Contact details: Lisa de la Haye - 353 0404 45302 (mob: 353086 105 0592
Emails: [email protected]
This place is absolutely the biz! Totally relaxed with dogs wandeing in & out of the conservatory....wonderful atmosphere. The food is delicious. The savoury scones are absolutely delicious - GORGEOUS with the Minestrone soup which is very filling.
All the food is gorgeous, the beef pie was delicious. You don't want to leave here..... desserts too tempting.... pity it is only open on saturdays & Sundays. A great place to bring your Mum, Auntie, great for walkers, couples, everyone will love it.

The Coach House, Roundwood, Co.Wicklow is one of the finest and highest pub restaurants in the Garden County. This award winning Irish Pub is close to Glendalough, Laragh, Enniskerry, Bray, Wicklow Town and the breathtaking scenery of Brittas Bay Beach, Sally Gap and the Wicklow Gap.
After 5/6 hours hiking the Wicklow Way come lunchtime we found ourselves in Roundwood, ravenous & thirsty. Other ramblers had highly recommended The Coach House so we decided to try it. We weren't disappointed! In fact, it well exceeded our expectations. Generous helpings of great food in very pleasant surroundings. We shared a huge helping of spicy chicken wings, a large bowl of crispy, chunky chips & an outsized dish of the best beef & stout casserole I believe I've ever sampled. Washed down with 2 glasses of great draught cider! Exceptional food & drink for less than €35. We were unable to finish the wings & no problem getting a doggy-bag.
Would definitely recommend this great pub. We'll certainly be back.

This should be your 1st stop from Dublin when you're going to Glendalough Visitor's Center. There's usually plenty of parking, especially if you park at the wrong restaurant before they open (The Roundwood Inn).
The wonderful ladies are warm, friendly and efficient. There's a great selection of pastries, quiches, and other items (salads etc) and a sit down menu as well. If you want the delicious brown soda bread just ask for it. They also have black currant jam and other jams/jellies. I had a 3 egg/3 item omelette and needed help to finish it. It was perfectly delicious. My husband had the full breakfast fry and enjoyed it too. They serve a nice lunch too or can pack you a lunch for your day's adventure.
This cafe has indoor and outdoor Seating and is very clean and tidy. Much care has been taken in the décor and making the restaurant inviting. They take just as much care with the preparation of the food they serve. The breads, pastries and desserts are soft, sweet and delicious.

Food was great, garlic mushrooms and chicken vol-au-vont and white chocolate cheesecake. The bar / restaurant is a bit open, could do with a few Edison type light bulbs. But it’s good food very friendly staff. Will return for the special Saturday night at end of each month !

This is the loveliest coffee shop I have ever been to. The atmosphere when you walk in is like you have just walked into your favourite Auntie's home. The staff are so friendly. Great coffee, which is important to me (I love my beans!) and lovely selection of cakes with the homemade taste,

Just there long enough for two quick creamy Pints beside a roaring fire. Lovely friendly village atmosphere.

Byrne & Woods Bar & Restaurant is a welcoming, cosy, friendly and delightful establishment in Roundwood. Visitors to Glendalough would be well advised to mark it on the map as a place to enjoy great food and to experience the banter and craic of the local characters by the warm fireside on a cold day. The pub is noted for a great pint of stout and the staff are charming, friendly and efficient. Enjoy!

Have eaten here before. So when we were visiting family in the area suggested that they would like to come out for dinner. They were impressed! We were not dissapointed. Staff were friendly, food was served promptly, and the portions were generous, so much so that no one could manage dessert we were that full. A bit frustrating, but that gives us the perfect excused to come back again, hopefully in the not too distant future.

At the Firehouse bakery bread really is king. Each day loaves are hand crafted and freshly baked, from crusty sourdoughs to slow proved yeasted breads. With an open plan bakery everything that we do is on show for all to see. For us real bread is bread that has nothing to hide. Each morning you can sit and watch the bakers work as they prepare and bake hand crafted breads and pastries. Throughout the day our wood fired oven will offer up pizzas and flat breads served along with soups and sandwiches. Everything that we offer is made by our very talented team. The only thing that we buy in is flour. Our philosophy is simple - bread is non discriminative therefore it is something for all. Artisan does not mean over pricing. The only additives bread should contain are time and passion So next time you're passing pick yourself up a loaf, grab a cheeky pastry or simply sit back and watch the world go by, a smiling face is always waiting.
This place is very popular. We were here shortly after opening and it was already getting busy despite a wet morning. Coffee was excellent, Pastel de Nata (Portuguese custard tart) was nicely flavoured but it wasn’t very deep like the traditional tarts from Portugal - at least it was fresh and pastry was lovely. My husband has the huevos rancheros and it was ok - the beans were cold and the chorizo was the thinly sliced variety rather than the thick sausage variety which meant none of the unctuous oils from cooked chorizo were there. The breads are the star offering here - so make sure to buy some and take home.
