PILGRIM'S is a small restaurant set in the rural village of Rosscarbery West Cork. Serving a seasonally crafted ever-changing daily menu. Our dishes are full of lip-smacking punchy flavours that are designed to share among the table. Bringing together (our favourite) tastes from the growers and wilds of West Cork. Come eat, drink and have a good time. Open Wednesday - Saturday 6-10pm, & Sunday 1-4pm
It's a year and a half ago since my first visit here. I posted a very positive review then. I've been back several times. It's clear it wasn't just a good or lucky day of the chef when I Visited first.Every time when I'm lucky enough to get a table (booking more than a week in advance is advisable) I'm surprised by the standard the chef is able to keep up.The flavours are so full, pure and fresh that they don't only fill the mouth and the stomach, but it just fills me with joy from head to toe.

The crab starter was divine. The rib eye steaks lacked the texture that I normally expect. The side salad was minimal. The veg were nice but covered in too much dressing. All in all, a good meal but not a great one. Deserts were excellent. Would go again

The Coffee Shop in Union Hall is a friendly, village coffee shop, with in-house bakery which produces delicious cakes, spelt scones, quiches and other delicacies available to order. Stone-baked Pizzas also available on Friday and Saturday evenings.
We had an amazing lunch here following a very successful whale watching trip. (Been Pier is five minutes up the road). This is a really special place- a beautiful colourful light filled interior - but what makes it really special is the home baking by chef Billy. Home made Paninis, Pasties- an extraordinarily nice Veggie Pasty ( no lard in the pastry which makes it super light)- Cakes and Scones and a wide selection of drinks. Pizzas on a Friday and Saturday. Billy's wife- the beautiful Jessie, an accomplished musician, welcomed us all with characteristic West Cork warmth. You'll leave feeling like you've made friends for life...

Please note we only serve food Monday - Saturday 12:00 to 3:30 pm 4:00 on Saturdays .
Consistently beautiful food. Service, presentation, quality, atmosphere all top notch. To my mind the best lunch available in clonakility. A creative menu with some old favourites like fish and chips but also some new flavors and ideas. Highly recommend. Love eating at scannells.

Mary Ann's is a well established bar and restaurant in the beautiful village of Castletownshend. The current owners, Fergus and Patricia O'Mahony, are at Mary Ann's since 1983. We serve lunch and dinner every day from March to November and then November to March Wednesday to Sunday lunch and dinner. We have a restaurant overlooking the sea upstairs dining in our old fashioned bar downstairs and in season in our walled garden and vine room. We sell modern Irish and European cuisine and add some Asian Fusion dishes. We have a comprehensive wine list and an art gallery upstairs selling Irish and international modern art. We have won many awards for our food and are featured in over 40 guides worldwide.
After driving all day, The Castle recommended Mary Ann's for dinner. This quaint pub was friendly and the service was very good. Our meals were quite good, hot and tasty. The food was served right away. We all had seafood and would recommend that.

We dined here twice during our stay in nearby Tragumna and on both occasions enjoyed perfect meals and service. Even on a busy Saturday evening, with a large birthday party in the "garden bar", nothing was too much trouble for the friendly staff who made sure that we had an enjoyable dining experience. Most of us had the fish pie (I always choose this!!) which was exceptional, although all our chosen dishes were well prepared and plentiful. Even the scarf that was left behind on the Saturday was put away safely. This restaurant is always a must for us to visit when in West Cork.

Stayed in union hall for the weekend to went to this local restaurant for an early dinner. After the good reviews was expecting a lovely meal. Sorry to say it wad very disappointing. Service cery poor, the waiter was a bit scruffy t shirt stickibg out, runners etc, we ordered the hake special eith the leek and white wine sause pkus the half and half. The fish was lovely as was the sauce. No veg though and the garlic potatoes were just sittibg in a bowl of butter. Ww wouldn't go back drive across tge bay much better places near by.

Under new ownership. Serving evening meals using the best of local produce, with daily fresh fish specialities and home made dessert and icecreams, in a contemporary retro atmosphere.
Highly recommended food & service at this restaurant situated in the middle of Rosscarbery. From the moment we arrived, the waiter, Peter, looked after us. Didn't rush us. We brought our own wine (no corkage charge) Both starters & mains were excellent (particularly the braised lambs kidneys!)
All in all an excellent evening & good value

Ate here the other night for the first time. A regular visitor to this part of the world, although hadn't been here for well over a year. Was delighted to see Hayes was now a nice looking eatery. Very nice, cozy atmosphere and a toasty fire lighting! We were 3, 2 adults and a child. Have to say that I thought the food was very average. We ordered an antipasti to share. Was a very generous plate but lacked a little. It's important with an antipasti that the meats are served at room temperature. These meats were straight out of the fridge and onto the plate. The roasted peppers were nice and sweet, but the mushrooms seemed a little unusual given they were fairly spicy. For mains the child had the prawn curry which was a Thai style curry, coconut based, was fine. My main was the vera cruz fish. Sounded interesting, i'd never tried this before. The pieces of hake were generous tender and not overcooked but I found the dish too spicy, its a personal thing, but spice with fish and olives is not my thing. I'm sure other people enjoy this but I wouldn't be looking to have it again. The other adult in our party had the crab cannelloni with crab. Again, there was an abundance of crab but it seemed to be cooked with some amount of spicy heat... We didn't stick around for desert. Sorry if I appear to be over critical, but sometimes less is more. Menu read a bit like a Benneton commercial or a taste of the world. Do the simple things well. Our side salad was covered in balsamic... not very ripe tomatoes and not a good match with mexican fish... left feeling confused. If you like Pappardelle though your in for a treat!

My sister ordered "Well Done" steak (For medical & other reasons) (and SHE herself can cook a steak to match any 5 star chef)
It arrived blue rare..................Rather than leave the party discommoded during the return of the plate, she pointed out that it was not what she ordered and left the meat and eat the accompanying food. The" manager" offered her a dessert which she declined. What he should have offered was an appology but none was iminent!!
Absolutely unacceptable that staff at this hotel can ruin the mood of a meal and leave a paying customer leave their hotel very upset at being treated with disrespect, without courtesy or any professional rectification. They musn't give a damn! Why should they care if a lady eats half of a main course and doesn't partake in a dessert or coffee or after dinner drink.....maybe they want to close down if they treat customers in this fashion. The view is good yes, but the shabby hotel and basic menu will not sustain them forever! Get a grip Celtic Ross!!!!!!!!!!!!
