Based on the reviews, we decided to give this restaurant a try and we now understand the reason it has so many fabulous reviews. The food was authentic, similar to what we have eaten in Thailand and Vietnam and we particularly liked the ambiance with the owners small children rating their dinner at a table nearby. Such adorable children and so well behaved.
We plan to visit again the next time we are in Rochefort.....

We went to Ker Zen based on the many positive recommendations on Trip Advisor. But we were disappointed, the pizzas were very average. It was a strange experience, we had expected that the restaurant would be very crowded, but we were the only two people in the restaurant. Despite that, my wife had to wait very long because the pizza chef made her the wrong pizza!!! As said before, the pizzas were below our expectations. Same with the atmosphere of an nearly empty restaurant. We cannot recommend this restaurant.

The Restaurant O'gabier and all his crew welcome you on its site. Everyone is on board, the tour can begin! Wishing you a pleasant visit by browsing our pages, we will be happy to welcome you to our table and to serve you a good meal.
The O'Gabier is a Bar, Brasserie and a Restaurant all in one. It sits on the marina waterfront and has a huge outdoor Terrace for the warmer months. This is a relatively 'young' establishment set in the marina development but it has already attracted excellent reviews from notable national French guide books. These good reviews, from people in the know, are likely to multiply.
The menu was varied and exciting. The food was fresh and succulent. The presentation and service was first class. The over-all prices for both food and drink were more than acceptable and gave us very good value for money.
Many French restaurants in tourist towns are now mundane, boring and unmemorable. The O'Gabier bucks the trend and is certainly the place to go to if you are in Rochefort.

It was clearly not obvious from the location or facade that this restaurant was a very good choice. A simple interior with basic table settings left us wondering what was in store for us from tne kitchen. We were not disappointed. Excellent quality food cooked to perfection and presented beautifully AND very quickly! Mustn't forget to mention the very helpful and polite waiter. Highly recommended!

You will appreciate the Gardens all around, the river just in front of the restaurant settled between the magnificent monument of the Corderie Royale (ropes workshop of the XVIth century) and the site where the Hermione (La Fayette's frigate)is being rebuilt. Fresh food from local producers, nice prices, kind staff have made the success of the place. Open everyday from april to october, closed on the week-ends from november to march. Open for the dinner only for groups and special events.
Sat at this restaurant for a few hours over a lovely lunch, eventually... at first we just wanted to order a drink but were quickly moved from our table to around the back of the restaurant as we couldn't have a drink at a table that was for food.... when we were finished our drink we decided it was time to eat so were allowed back to another table (not the nice shaded table we'd chosen first but one in full glare of the sun).
The food was really nice but the service was really slow and the waiter seemed exasperated with our little knowledge of french... maybe not a place for foreign non french speaking tourists....

The crêpes were beautifully presented and also absolutely delicious. Good efficient service. Our small dog was given a bowl of water and there . Overall very friendly atmosphere and the owner kindly took pictures of our family meeting for us.

We called in for lunch with 6 colleagues, the menu is varied with many options. My choice was quite tasty, but I was served and the next meal came out 5 mins later and so on. It would appear that they are only able to cook for Two people at a time.
I noted the beer is quite expensive, €5 for a bottle(usually between €3/3.5 else where in Rochefort)
Paying individually can be difficult as the lady in charge is reluctant to separate the bill or is just bad at maths
Would I go there again, probably not, there are many better places to eat than here in Rochefort

A lovely small restaurant with excellent service. The menus were varied and the food was superb. The restaurant is centrally located. We booked in advance and managed to get the last table.

This restaurant is located within a wine shop and normally not open in the evenings (after 7pm) unless booked by a larger party, as was the case when I visited. Most of the diners here appeared to be locals, a good sign. The menu was certainly good value and the food well prepared. The hostess and family were friendly and welcoming.

We arrived at Les Thermes, without having booked, and finding most other restaurants closed (it was July 14th.) From the outside, it looks a rather unprepossessing bar/brasserie and our expectations for lunch were not high. In fact, we were delighted and thoroughly recommend the place. The owners were extraordinarily welcoming and genuinely friendly, chatting before and after the meal and serving attentively but unobtrusively throughout. We both ate from a menu - just plat and dessert - which, although I can't recall the exact price, was very reasonable. The emphasis is on galettes and crêpes (the owner/chef-cuistot is breton) and my partner's smoked salmon galette and crêpe pommes au caramel were very much liked - generous portions, tasty, fresh ingredients and nicely-presented. I had a perfectly-cooked entrecôte with excellent, crispy chips and a simple ice-cream to finish. Coffee and tea were both good and cider and (a really good) red wine were available by bottle or bolée/glass. Les Thermes has no pretensions and is all the better for that. But, when I step back and consider the quality of the cooking and the welcome, it is impossible to find fault. At the price, I think the place is unbeatable. If you want a good meal, in a friendly ambience and, moreover, very close to the centre of Rochefort (La Corderie is at five minutes' walking distance), with parking almost next door, you will not be disappointed.
