This hotel is a family affair. Run by the father and son and believe me they know what they are doing. You really had no reason to leave even though town is within walking distance. Between tea in the afternoon, champagne reception with a little history lesson to a wonderful dinner with the son making sure you are taken are of. Let not forget the entertainment during dinner that carried on to the bar afterwards. Our room was huge and the bathroom was larger than some New York apartments. My brother-in-law was skeptical when we booked this but we all agreed we will return. Thank you to the Hughes men for making this such enjoyable experience.

A charming family run restaurant managed personally by the Foyles for a century. We focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients, (sourced locally where possible), specialising in Seafood and traditional Irish Favourites, there is something to suit every taste. The restaurant is set in distinctive surroundings, full of interesting artefacts covering the history of Connemara and the hotel. You can expect a professional, friendly service, creative cooking, offered at a fair price in a relaxed ambience.
Marconi is part of Foyles Hotel on the main street in Clifden. The restaurant is very comfortable and is very popular with local people and visitors alike. The menu isn't pretentious but the food is wholesome, good and very well presented. The service was friendly and efficient.

We received a warm welcome and had nice cappuccino and scones at Steam! The little Terrace is really pleasant in a sunny day. Thanks Walter for taking the time to give us some nice words

We weren't made to feel very welcome even though the restaurant wasn't full. The food was very good, although expensive for what we had, but the service was perfunctory and the restaurant didn't have a very warm atmosphere. Our opinion was borne out by the owner of our B&B who said that others had made the same comments re the atmosphere and lack of friendliness. Also, if you are charging those prices,at least give us linen napkins.

We ate here twice using their early bird menu (served between 6pm and 7pm). The food was excellent and good value, and the portions were definitely generous. Well worth a visit.

Guys Bar and snog is one of the oldest establishments in Clifden, serving a wide range of local dishes daily until 9pm. Evening traditional music sessions throughout the season. Late night music on Thurs/Fri and Sat. A selection of wines by the glass.
Had just climbed Diamond Hill and wanted something light to eat. Guys hit the spot. Centrally located in Clifden and busy for a weekend in February. Swiftly given an table, and served very good hot food. All the food coming out of the kitchen looked good. Good atmosphere and very friendly staff. Great coffee and were given a free refill which is always nice but rarely happens.

Veldons Seafarer Bar and Restaurant is located in Letterfrack village at one of the main crossroads in Connemara – the heart of Connemara! We are located along the Wild Atlantic Way where the landscape is shaped by the sea and the local characters are full of creativity and chat. The bar has been a hub of activity for many years with Veldons Bar also being main grocers in the area. The old shop is now our great new restaurant. We aim to offer a friendly welcoming atmosphere where locals and visitors can enjoy a visit. Great food is served all day in the bar and we also have a separate restaurant. We are perfectly located for a quick coffee and Sandwich before you carry on with your journey, a hearty steak after you have conquered Diamond Hill, or make a weekend of it and enjoy the ambiance of our restaurant followed by a pint in the bar! There is always a smiling face and a warm welcome in Veldons Seafarer.
My sister had their stew and I had their fish and chips. Both portions were large and served hot. Service was mediocre. I guess our expectations were too high based upon travel guides. Meals were average and the service was below average. We've probably become...MoreSorry to hear that your experience with us was not up to the standard you expected. As you noted we get great reviews on our food & also about our staff so it must have been an off day

There seemed to be a dearth of coffee places in Clifden. Then we saw their van, beautifully painted, fantastic advertisement for the shop. Spied the shop, so much bigger inside than out. Obviously popular with locals as it was quite busy. Loved the window at the back overlooking the Wild Atlantic Way. Wonderful fresh food, even bought some more to take away for lunch!

Relaxed Family run Restaurant and Hotel with breath taking sunset in the bay over dinner, fine locally sourced seafood(many local meat options also) and home grown vegetables and salad. Cosy open fire places in the restaurant make even the coolest of days enjoyable and a large open turf fire in the Bar is ideal for having pre dinner and after dinner drinks in front of. The sun Terrace overlooking the bay is a must for pre dinner drinks on fine days. Taxi service available please enquire when reserving for dinner.
Our five-star meal was accompanied by the kind of sunset that created a warm glow to every course of loca Connemara fare presented with continental flair by the cosmopolitan family who run this famous restaurant with rooms on the very edge of the Wild Atlantic way. Memorable! Monique's Dutch-style breakfasts are also an imaginative alternative to an Irish fry-up! A wonderful experience.
