This was my first experience with Thai food and I'll be going back! This is a small restaurant but was able to accommodate our group of 7 comfortably for dinner. The service was fast and everyone had something different. Having a vegan and vegetarian in the group sometimes make going out to restaurant a challenge but this place hit the spot for all. The portions were good sized with most of us bringing home a doggie bag. Prices were very reasonable. Try it!

Near Albany
We frequently travel from Boston to Buffalo and always have a hard time finding somewhere to grab a bite in-between that can accomodate my wife's multiple food allergies. Well, solution FOUND outside of Albany at Chez Mike! Chef Mike put together a nice squash salad appetizer with a hanger steak and she was thrilled. I had the special, a grilled cheese with apple slices and carmelized onion... best grilled cheese I've ever had. Service was personable and prompt, prices very fair. We'll never stress about where to eat in our east-west travels again!

Emack & Bolio's, Albany, NY, features Outrageous Ice Cream, Award Winning Smoothies, Hand-Dipped Chocolates & Gourmet Espresso Drinks.Open Year Round 11am-10pm weekdays, 11pm Fri/Sat/Summer. Live Music Weekends, Unique Toys & Gifts, Outdoor Garden Seating, Fireplace. Birthday Parties, Our Ice Cream Truck Caters Events!
It's so easy to keep a freezer full of top-notch interest flavors from the supermarket, but every once in a while it's good to branch out and try a couple of scoops of something not so mass produced. We managed to arrive during live-music time, which can be a treat (or decidedly not).

I stayed the night in Albany and was hoping to find a gluten free bakery. I choose to eat gluten free but my husband has a serious sensitivity. So Cider Belly was fine for me, but l would want to investigate more before offering him a doughnut.
The employees did change gloves before handling my doughnuts. There were 6 varieties of gluten free doughnuts when I got there half an hour after opening on a Sunday morning. I have to say the regular doughnuts looked awesome and the flavors were creative.
The gluten free doughnuts are $2 a piece and a little on the small side. They are moist and airy. The different icings were good and my last doughnut was still decent later that evening. It did indeed taste like a regular doughnut and no weird after taste or grainy feel.

Went out for dinner with two of my brothers and my sister in law at Casey's a local favorite in Rensselaer, Casey's. I had been there about four years ago and had wanted to go back so we made a reservation for a table of four. The fried calamari was great, crisply fried, and piping hot. Next time I think I will order that as an entrée as it was bountiful and easily served as an appetizer for four of us. I ordered a seafood fra diavolo which was perfect. Great flavor and chock full of clams, large scallops, and calamari. I had half and took half home with me. Two of our group had the hot Turkey sandwich which they said was good. And one of my brothers had the quesadillas which he said were excellent. Casey's has a varied menu and there were two or three things I will try when I return. Dinner for four including a couple of drinks and tip was less than 100 dollars, so in addition to having a very good meal, we had a very reasonably priced one as well. The waitress we had was excellent and given the very crowded dining room service was both quick and very attentive.

Traditional/Contemporary Italian Cuisine, affordable entrees, great service, and the atmosphere is sure to please.
While the restaurant was a bit on the loud side, the atmosphere was upbeat and bustling. Once we got our food, we knew why...DELICIOUS!! Outstanding calamari and appetizer specials. From seafood to pasta to chicken..no one was disappointed. Best tiramesu I've had! The service was not rushed and friendly. And the prices very fair and they offer a great coupon on LocalFlavor!. Will definitely go back!

The food and service was amazing. The best dining experience in the capital region! Hands down. I have never been disappointed. The prices are on the expensive side, but worth it. We has appetizers, salads, entrees and dessert. Every course was better than the previous...MoreYES! So glad you and your date went all out and had the experience we love delivering. Thank you!

Step up to the window, order your meal. There were many choices, but few, if any, green vegetables. Your number is called when your meal is ready. The fish here is fresh, nicely prepared. I don't know of many fish restaurants where you can get trout over the counter for under $10 a meal. The cook is not afraid to put the pepper to the fish prior to broiling it. The curly fries are also spicy (but not hot), a step above the usual bland fries. An oyster roll offers a generous helping of the shellfish and a fresh hot dog roll. Sliced potatoes with skins were a welcome change from French fries.
The decor in here is depressing. The paneling is dark. Coupled with the small windows and the tacky faux-Tiffany lights, this is not a place to linger over a meal. The music playing was horrific – not sure what brand it was, since it all sounded like caterwauling. The rest rooms are a bit shabby. Companion also noticed that she could not secure the door to the ladies room. She said “I’ve seen filthier bathrooms, but not by much.”
We are glad we tried this place. But we do miss dining at the old Weathervane formerly just down US 4.

Our group of four colleagues headed to Caffe Italia for dinner and what a treat! This is a classic Italian neighborhood restaurant, small but nicely appointed and very comfortable.
We were promptly seated, offered beverages, and the pace of service through our entire dinner was perfect. Our waitresses detailed the specials and made recommendations as we ordered, and were helpful, but not overbearing.
The wine list is varied in terms of types and price range, and a full bar is available.
Our appetizers (Utica greens, mussels, and artichoke appetizers) were all well-prepared and tasty. Our entrees were more than ample in size, all served hot and perfectly prepared. The pumpkin cake was a perfect dessert for us to split after dinner.
Super restaurant, and one that I'd absolutely visit again on my next trip to Albany!

Great American Dining For Breakfast, Lunch Or Earlybird Dinner.
My husband, daughter, and two small grandchildren recently had lunch at the Skyline Diner. We found the wait staff to be very friendly and accommodating. With one preschooler and a soon to be toddler, our party was not the easiest group to wait on. When we first arrived, the waitress put us in a family friendly booth with plenty of room for a preschooler to squirm around and brought over a high chair before we even had a chance to ask. The menu included breakfast and lunch items and plenty of options for a vegetarian. My husband and I had chicken slouvaki sandwiches on pita bread that came with a choice of soup or French fries and coke slaw. Sweet potato fries could be substituted for a $1.00 more. My daughter had a pita sandwich stuffed with grape leaves .Our grandson had a grilled cheese sandwich which came with a choice of fries or a fresh vegetable as well as a choice of a pudding for dessert( children's menu). All of us enjoyed our food; the chicken slouvaki pita included onions, tomato, lettuce, and a tzaki dressing and was nicely flavored. Our meals were reasonably priced and were a good value. The restaurant itself was impeccably clean. We would definitely return if we were in the Rensselaer area again.
