Was really surprising. After several days having really good meals in Ponta Delgada, I was surprised by this one man show. Great tuna and octopus dishes. Pineapple pie was very good. Ricardo is a very good chef that does what he knows and cares to have his customers happy. I went in a Wednesday night, near 21:30, restaurant wasn’t full. Ricardo was very kind and helpful. After some minutes we doubt if there was any one else in the kitchen besides him. After some chat, Ricardo confirmed that he does everything. He explained that after so many disappointments with his previous employees, he implemented this one man show model. I recommend it to everyone. Must be booked, at least two days in advance. For sure I will return.

Vegetarian Restaurant, vegan friendly, gluten friendly,
I recently visited San Miguel and was impressed by the quality of the beef and restaurants in general. How ironic that my favorite restaurant by far was Rotas da Ilha Verde. What a simply charming experience. Their meals were unusual, creative and delicious. The wait staff was totally entertaining, helpful and very competent. A small specialty place, make sure to make Reservations as they fill up fast!

A staff person where we were staying recommended this restaurant and we were not disappointed. Local fresh fish, I had the tuna and hubby the white sea bream, both perfectly done. We ordered clams to start and loved them. Generous servings of potatoes, veggies, tomatoes. Also had the fresh cheeses and bread. Let's say there was no room for dessert. I had the house white wine, was very good. Service was prompt, friendly. Oh, and clean, bright bathrooms.

Space that is distinguished by an intimate and friendly atmosphere. Has the intention to encourage the consumption of traditional Portuguese products, establishing a link between personal taste for public service and the appreciation and admiration for these products so genuine. The space will combine the traditional and refined, with a family flair and professionalism, AS public target, have the client, wishing to find an alternative space where someone with the satisfaction of being able to serve and to do make come back again.
I dont like leaving reviews for places I havnt actually eaten at but we did walk in, sit down, look at the menu and then walk out again so its probably worth me advising others too.
As far as I can tell no hot food is served here, just cold cuts of meat and cheese. Maybe this is what this place is all about, if so maybe Trip Advisor needs some new headings/options? After a cold, miserable and dreary day sight seeing in Sao Miguel (like it is most days) I want something warm for an evening meal.
This place is also slightly difficult to find as its location on the map on TA isnt correct (its in the alleyway behind where its spot is located on the map).
Also inside its very dark (again Im sure this is their USP but just feels odd to me).

Located in the historic center of Ribeira Grande, the Merenda offers large rooms, air-conditioned , one with panoramic views of the Mountains , parking and modern equipment that allows you to make, among other regional dishes and pastries, in addition to meals light served at any time , including various sandwiches based on bread and pastry own manufacture . The motto " tradition and innovation" presides over its activity since 1981 .
We stopped here for lunch. Everyone got a bifana. The bread is fresh and chewy, delicious! I ordered Sao Jorge cheese which is traditional Portuguese cheese that tingles on your tongue. The French fries here are incredible, I like them better than McDonald's! After lunch...MoreThank you.

Confeitaria artesanal com vertente de pastelaria e chocolateria. Trabalhamos o mais fino chocolate belga e os tipicos produtos regionais dos Acores. Handmade confectionery, where it's work chocolate and pastry. We work the finest Belgian chocolate and the typical regional products from the Azores.
Oh what a find for a chocoholic. A proper choccy emporium. Eat chocolate and drink chocolate. The drinking chocolate here is really exceptional too.
There’s dozens of sweet choices and the smell of great chocolate is deliciously all-consuming. Of course I aimed straight for those with booze first, and then I picked those with nuts, then the passion fruit ones and the pineapple ones. All milk chocolates in my case.
All in all I got a few dozen to take with me and they’ve lasted me about two weeks. I noticed small chocolate towers too; these turned out to be brownie cakes dipped into their exquisite milk chocolate. So I got one to take away as well. I ate it within a few days, and it was superbly good. They also had little pots of dark, milk and white chocolate with little sticks stuck in them and when i enquired it was explained that they are to stir into hot milk at home to make a hot choccy drink. Great idea folks. The lady serving me knew her stuff too and she was courteous and helpful too.

Right in the heart of punts Delgado. I was told we needed Reservations but managed to get in for lunch no problem. Authentic Azorian, lots of seafood options. Full of locals, so you know it's good and authentic. Some of the menu options a little too authentic. Cows hoofs and tripe, but I ordered the octopus and it was selfish. Look for the blue door.

This place was far more formal than we expected, being a farm dinner but having 10 pieces of cutlery per setting, but it was a pleasant surprise. Service starts as soon as you are seated and continues for the next 90 minutes with a real variety of options to challenge the palate. The appetizers and salad were very creative and flavorful and the entrees of ahi and beef were perfectly cooked, although one piece out of four of ahi was cooked medium for some reason. Wine selection was from the family vineyard in Portugal and ridiculously inexpensive. We actually liked the second-tier wine better than the third. The only let-downs were the soup and dessert. Soup was shockingly uninspired as green bean soup, which was very small chunks of what could have been canned beans in a thin broth with absolutely no garnish or seasoning. Dessert was blackberry ice cream, which was more like ice milk with little flavor. Those two gaffes kept me from giving a 5 rating, but the rest of the experience was 5+.

A wonderful surprise !!!
After buying some fish at the local fish market in Ponta Delgada the very same fisherman did recommend us Mane Cigano. Visited Thursday went back on Friday and again on Saturday. As we live in Copenhagen it was a major shock on the positive side: Low prices , fresh fish and wonderful taste. Service friendly, genuine family style. Every time we shared table but always friendly people. My 4 years old daughter loved it . If you visit Ponta Delgada try this small cozy place, be aware that they only open for lunch and two dishes of the day only and try to be there by noon the latest otherwise you will not have seats.
