I've been to Mary's eight times in the past three years. The word GOOD would be my continual rating. They are better than the average Punxsutawney eatery. You are paying for the atmosphere as the menu is a bit pricey for the meal and service received, as the waitresses are always in short supply.

Not a fair review, but when you are CLOSED in late October for the remainder of the season, thats a NO GO. Some people like myself actually enjoy our ice cream even on a nippy or cold day! Recommendation: Stay open year round so i can give this place an accurate review.

Very good home cooking.
Recommended by everyone we met in town a week before Groundhog Day, Punxy Phil's Family restaurant lived up to the reputation and hype perfectly. We were made to feel right at home by the friendly and informed staff. The place exuded FAMILY. I ordered a ham and sausage omelet while my wife opted the roast beef sandwich smothered in homemade gravy. The selling point for her was the waitress assuring us the beef was roasted daily in their ovens; nothing pre-cooked here! My wife, who counts roast beef sandwiches as her own special slice of heaven, felt she had entered the Promised Land by how her delicious RB platter smothered in gravy with a healthy heap of fries. My omelet could barely close since it was packed with great chunks of ham and sausage. The eggs were slightly over-cooked, but in now way detracted from the delicious flavors contained therein. We came to Punxsutawney to see the famous groundhog, but came away raving about his namesake restaurant just as much!

I was on a business trip and this restaurant was recommended to me. It did not disappoint.
We went in for an early lunch (around 11:30) and got a table right away. We were waited on right away and received our drinks immediately.
We ordered the special appetizer, House-made jalapeno ranch chips. They were very good. Just the right amount of spice and not so much that you fill up before the meal.
I ordered a Ruben sandwich with fries. I have to say this was the best Ruben I have had in a very long time and I've had quite a few. The sandwich was thick. The corned beef had no gristle or fat. There was an adequate amount of sauerkraut and the dressing was enough to make it messy but not fallling all over your plate messy. The fries were fresh cut and cooked perfectly. One of the main things that stood out for me is the food was HOT. You could tell it just came off grill. It was so hot, I couldn't eat it right away. This is the way all food should come out of a kitchen! Too many times it seems the plate sits under the heat lamp a little too long, but not this place. Piping hot and so good!
If I had to make one complaint, it would be that the servers seemed a little standoffish. That might just be the area. It wasn't so bad that it was uncomfortable. I'm just used to staff being a little more jovial. It didn't take away from the experience though. Could have just been a bad day.
I highly recommend eating here. Service is good, food is excellent!

We stopped in for lunch while traveling through Punxsutawny, PA.. Although we are pizza lovers, we also know about the Cheese Steak Sandwiches, so we split one for lunch and ordered a side of Fried Zucchini to share. Both were delicious. The sandwich was on perfect bread--not heavy, slightly toasted. The meat, cheese, mushrooms, peppers, tomatoes and lettuce blended beautifully, seemed very fresh. Just the right amount of mayo on the sandwich too. The Fried Zucchini were lightly battered, crisp, and the zucchini was not mushy.

Love their ice cream treats! The Cyclones and the sundaes are the best! You can't beat the prices either. My husband and I each got medium cones and the total was under $5.
The food is good, and quick when you don't need a big fancy meal. You can get burgers, hot dogs, French fries, or a number of other appetizers.

Great little hometown favorite that's been around for a long time! The signature item is a loose meat sandwich. Get a few with all the fixins!

Frank's star lunch has simply the best hotdogs around. An everything dog has ketchup, mustard, hotdog meatsauce, and onions... perfect this way. Other highlights are burgers, hot sausage, steak sandwiches, fries, homemade chips, and more. Frank and staff are also very friendly. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

First, Fox's Pizza Den is now Punxsy Pizza. The owner, Mr. Anthony, must have dropped the franchise and branched out on his own.
Second, it is on North Findley Street, NOT Hampton Avenue and not in Grounhog Plaza.
Third, the pizza is okay but there is absolutely no place to park and there are always cars parked half on the sidewalk and half on the street while they are picking up their orders. This means both pedestrians and drivers are inconvenienced by this restaurant.

This new coffee shop and bakery in Punxsy is truly awesome. I came over for the day from Brookville and needed a place to work and study. The staff greeted me immediately upon arrival and saw my computer bag and immediately set me up with...MoreThank you for your review, KT87TA! We put a lot of thought into the space during the planning process and wanted to make sure that we could serve our customers in the best way possible. We hope to see you back again soon!
