Puerto Morelos, a peaceful village on the Mayan Riviera, is a place to experience the genuine Yucatan. Puerto Morelos makes an excellent base if you’re looking for someplace quieter than glitzy hotspots like Cancun and Playa del Carmen. Government eco-reserve designations protect the reef and mangroves—and the village itself—from development. Outdoor options range from thrilling jungle and diving adventures to serene bike rides or moped explorations.

On a quiet residential street in authentic Puerto Morelos you will find John Gray’s Kitchen with a homecooked feel. The Duck Magret was very good albeit a little over cooked. The Mussels were tasty and plentiful for a mere 170 pesos. The Corn Chowder was delicious and Rib Eye Steak was excellent. The brownie for dessert was yummy and enough to share for the entire family. It was the perfect escape after days of Mexican fare. My only critique was with the interior decor which needs refreshing with more charm. The Terrace was much nicer but beware of mosquitoes. Maybe one final critique was the wine list. They need some lighter reds at reasonable prices. Granted it’s a common problem in the area. Hot climates need a wider selection of light reds. Maybe a reasonably priced Pinot Noir or a smooth Nebbiolo or Tempranillo.

With a name like taco.com we weren’t sure. Tacos were generous and deliciousSat on the street at table and enjoyed the street dancers. Great experience.

Really liked the fish fillet with steamed veggies and the salmon with spinach salad with added almonds and cherries. The staff is very nice, and the street Seating is pretty quiet and calm for PM. The service was quite slow, took about 30 minutes from ordering to Delivery of meals. Though the weather was beautiful and could enjoy the Sunday night church service that was across the street.

We sampled several different kinds of pizzas here, and they were all fantastic--from the conventional varieties to more complex, creative ones. This isn't just a place that tries to give tourists what they can get back home. This place is good for largish groups, those with children, those just eating as a couple, or even those looking for Delivery (just use Facebook messenger). Highly, highly recommended.

We've enjoyed Richard's restaurant in the daytime, and this year, we were very happy to learn that Mi Cocina would be open in the evening. Sebastian, the evening chef, is passionate about cooking, and we have enjoyed several of his delicious and flavourful creations-- burritos, chiles rellenos (the best I've had, and I've made a point of tasting many), pozole, and a grouper fish dinner. Fine dining at affordable prices! Joe works with Sebastian, and they are a great team. I'm so sorry the restaurant is so far from home, but I can't wait to go back next winter!

Traditional Mexican & Austrian Cuisine Where flavor is everything and the freshest ingredients are prepaired to order in our open kitchen Creating ☺ and returning customers with the best view in Puerto Morelos
After a day at the beach, my boyfriend and I decided to have dinner in Puerto Morelos before heading home to Cancun. I'm so glad we choose Richard's. From the moment we entered the service was friendly and attentive. Andres was our waiter and he was superb the entire time we were there. Knowledgeable about the menu and sduper friendly.
I had the goulash and my boyfriend had the schnitzel. As an appetizer we had the salmon carpaccio.
To say the food was outstanding really doesn't do it justice. The beef shank in the goulash was so tender it just melted my mouth. The sauce was perfect. Just the right balance of paprika to the other spices. And the kind of bread meatball served with goulash was perfectly cooked. I would order this again without a doubt.
My boyfriend's schnitzel was equally outstanding. Crisp breading that didn't overpower the pork and was perfectly seasoned. It came with perfectly cooked parsley potatoes and salad dressed with just a touch of balsamic vinegar.
We didn't have dessert because the portion size of both meals filled us up but the desserts we saw being delivered to other tables looked very good. Maybe on our next visit.
All in all, the perfect dining experience. We will definitely be eating there again.
