Wonderful seafood in a cosy setting. Be warned, they don't take Reservations, so you need to be in line for the first sitting at 6pm if you're trying to guarantee yourself some delicious mussels, which are served with the chef's choice of sauce each night. I missed out the first night, so made sure I was on time the second night! Friendly service as well. An all-round enjoyable experience, especially if you finish with a cranachan for dessert!

Bright, informal, bubbly, relaxed bistro Cafe in the heart of Portree. Daily changing food menu. Extensive vegetarian & meaty choices. The best coffee in town. Open daily from 7am-6pm. Scrumptious meals and home-baked cakes. WE CATER FOR ALL! FOLLOW THE STAIRWAY TO FOOD HEAVEN...
Fantastic views from here, even on a wet day. Hot and fragrant food with ample selection, well cooked. Lots of flavour, perfect for a cold day.

Without doubt this was a tasty meal but it was probably not quite as good as I had hoped. I had been assured that this restaurant was “superb” but to be honest, my mum cooks as well as this.
It was disappointing not to find any Cullen skink on the menu. Instead, I had the chowder for a starter. Strangely, It defied my understanding of chowder because it didn’t seem to contain either milk or cream: it was a rather thin tomato broth. All the same, it was well-seasoned and satisfying. I then followed with the sea bass, which was sadly lacking a really nice, crisp skin.
The dessert menu was not at all tempting which made it easy to preserve my waist-line, hopefully, by stopping short of dessert. In my view, what the restaurant was lacking in its variety of desserts, it made up for in the price of those desserts. Any place where I can easily resist dessert isn’t worth the effort. Still, I shouldn’t be unfair: a seafood restaurant isn’t going to excel at desserts so, no surprise there.
Overall this was a reasonably satisfying meal but not a great one. The restaurant is quite small and intimate and has a nice atmosphere. Service is very friendly and “relaxed” if a little too slow. I fully expected it to be expensive (and it is) because there’s a perception that fish is costly plus this is a harbour-side restaurant in a picturesque location. However, I wouldn’t say it was either very special or very good value for money.

Many of the restaurants in Portree are expensive. But Caledonian Cafe is a good choice if you're looking for good food at a reasonable price. My wife had the homemade macaroni & cheese with chips, and I had a beefburger with chips. Both dishes were quite good, as was the service. It's a busy restaurant, so it's possible you may have to wait a bit for a table.

My wife and I dropped by for an early dinner at this restaurant – it wasn’t busy when we arrived, so were promptly shown a table. We shared a large bowl of tomato soup and their vegetariana pizza (soft, but reasonably thin crust). Service was friendly and attentive.

A relaxing and comfortable fine dining experience awaits you in this restaurant located within The Rosedale Hotel. High quality food freshly prepared by Daniel Fleming and his small kitchen team can be enjoyed in this small family run hotel. Booking in advance is recommended to avoid disappointment.
If you need to book somewhere you know it has a good reputation and this restaurant surpasses that .. chef produces his own distinct menu and the staff are so good

Lovely lunch on a Saturday with the other half. I had a vegetarian breakfast whuch was small but tasty and just enough. Bonus - it included a cup of tea'! OH had a homemade burger which he said was very tasty - high praise from a former chef!

We've eaten before at the Granary and this time we ate twice here in four days. The food is always of good quality and well-prepared. Service is good, but often the restaurant is very busy so patience is needed at times.

Food shop with seats - contemporary bakery specialising in artisan bread, shortbread and oatcakes. All food is available in compostible containers for take away or take a seat! Wood burning stove in winter, free parking, child friendly area. Viewing window to watch the bakery in production. Excellent coffee, homemade soups, filled lunch breads and patisserie.
It is a little walk away from Portree center, but they make excellent bread. We bought our lunch from here. It is very very good and I will definitely recommend the place!
Upstairs there is some sort of art store with many interesting things. Everyone in my family bought something from there.

The owner attracted us; and the experience was very bad...
The food was very bad and very little ration. My daughter loves Lasagne and it's the first time I saw her not finishing her meal.. because the food was so bad.. the owner should take some real cook lessons.. Not recommended at all....
