home style cooking, bakery that offers homemade pies and ding dongs, and cheesecake factory cakes, voted best steaks in Calhoun county 2 years in row, hungry yet!
Not many choices in Port Lavaca, but this had a lot of charm. We stopped for lunch and had the rib platter and Texas burger. Good choices and very filling. We wished we had room for pie which looked amazing. Friendly service.thank you for the kind words and happy you were so pleased, thanks again, vic, marty, and crew

Rude manager, Hispanic female. Had sign posted outside of 1.50 blizzard with meal. She was mopping floor and as we placed order she told employees blizzards were longer on sale menu. So we continued to order she stated again. We don't have that anymore (burrito). She continued mopping and splashing mop around area. We cancelled order and left restaurant. She was very rude.
We were on vacation from out of town...

Stopped for lunch. Seafood rest. art deco design?? Lunch special bbq chicken, chicken salad, crab salad por boy, all items $11. Why so much chicken at a seafood rest. Everything too expensive!! If I wanted a por boy I would go to Subway for $6. I would not recommend this place.

A really great restaurant with a very low publicity profile in a town with generally poor restaurant choices. You should add this one.
Now called La Antigua, has great service, amazing food, and reasonable prices!! Food portions are large and delicious. The place was busy, yet still attentive. Very clean and friendly environment. We've been here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, all were very good!! Can't choose a favorite!

Friendly funky atmosphere. Good burgers and chicken salad. Eat at counter, booth or table, Talk to your server. Where locals have met as long as I've been going to Port LaVaca. Owner, Justin is wealth of knowledge. If J.C. Melcher, who owns the hardware store across the street is there, you will learn even more. The hardware store should be listed as a tourist attraction itself

We went yesterday for dinner and we're really looking forward to eating there since my family has been there several times and has raved about it.
We were seated and got drinks not too long after. Ordered two appetizers and a cup of gumbo. Got first appetizer quick, gumbo came probably 15 minutes later, the shrimp appetizer came right before our entrees(only because we finally asked where it was). The first appetizer boudin balls were not flavorful, the gumbo was awful(bad flavor, not sure if it was scorched), shrimp appetizer was fine.
We finally got our entrees fried shrimp(good), cheeseburger(good, fries were cold), flounder(good, but not flounder), blue crabs(still frozen in center).
I said to the person we paid the bill with and our waitress that this was the worst meal experience we've had during our vacation. They both put blame on the large party of about 25 that was there at the same time as us. That was a very poor excuse, being that it was a Friday night. Hopefully management takes note and tries to correct some of these problems! (And we did understand that they were busy, but our experience all around was not a pleasant one!)

If looking for a good place to have lunch while in town this is the place -- service fast, good prices and food is good, especially the burgers and lunch specials. Many locals frequent this place for lunch so always a good sign.

This is my favorite place to get breakfast burriots, much bettter than the bigger Buccee in Wharton ( or the one is Sugsar land, or waller)
I am only talking about breakfast burriots since this is a small place and not too many food option. You get the pick what you want, and the tortillas are freshly made in front of you. Friendly staff, freshly prepared authentic food
No place to sit, to go only

Small, seafood joint. Most items are fried but they have daily specials. The waitstaff was friendly and made many suggestions. I wasn't very hungry and ended up getting a small shrimp dish that was excellent and fresh. I'd go back there if I'm ever in the area again.

Buffet with limited items. Brisket a little tough, bends plastic fork. Ice Tea has iron oxide taste. The building hasn't been used for a long time. Paper plates, plastic utensils, no tray, you may have to make a few trips to get everything to your table. Price is $16, i think $12 would be more reasonable.
