Looking out over the waterfront from the historical Ajax Cafe can be quite charming, however the dining experience does not back it up. The first thing you will notice is how loud it is. Somehow the acoustics of the room reflect the sound inward making it difficult to carry on a conversation without shouting. Then you'll realize that the service is slow and the food mediocre. To top it off your bill for all of this will be unjustifiably large.

My husband was working in Poulsbo and discovered this amazing place. We have actually driven from Puyallup for their amazing lamb sliders - and I don't even care for lamb. They have an amazing way - if we ever become wealthy, we will move close to this restaurant and order out for the first month! The food was amazing and the service great too. I highly recommend their stuffed mushrooms!

We ordered the medium scoop in a waffle cone. It was unbelievably small. There was way more cone than necessary for the ice cream. It was like a baby cone at our local ice cream shop. We took a number when we entered. Most of the unique flavors were gone as it was about 8pm. I ordered mint chip and it was just average. I would not go back here. It was a rip off.

Yes, you can. Choice of many breads. I chose Sourdough. Real sliced Turkey, not the compressed stuff. Real roast beef. Thick sliced tomato, bacon, cheese and more. Triple decked. Nice pickles and potato salad. More than enough for two meals.
I wish I had room for the pie and ice cream. Yes, the clock stopped here in the 50's, but that's the charm.

We had pastries and coffee. It was perfect with a lovely view. We split a slice of spinach quiche and a mixed berry danish to satisfy both sweet and savory.

Mostly organic food using local farm ingredients. Breakfast served until 2pm. All organic milk, coffee, eggs, flour, sugar, produce etc.
I stopped in to grab a late lunch the other day and my debit credit card was refused by the clerk. For it not having a chip. I asked her to key it in then, because I don't have a chip yet, my banks issue, not mine, It's still accepted everywhere else just fine?
But she refused and proceeded to tell me it was "illegal" for my credit union to have not given me a chip card yet. Which is totally false btw.
And keying it in IS TOTALLY An option on the square register.
I accept square myself and No, it is not illegal to still accept swipe cards. Businesses not customers can control a card issuer on when they roll out new chip cards. Jeez? And the square swipe reader is still Free to obtain via Square. And needed for Gift Cards, so it's not phased out by any means.
I was very put off by this demand that I only pay with a chip card and the attitude given me when I didn't have one to do that with.
She even had the audacity to be looking into my wallet and ask me to pay cash because she could see the tips of some bills. NOT THE POINT. And very inappropriate.
By this time I was fed up and canceled my order, paid for my extremely over priced $5.00 + tax glass of OJ with small bill cash and change that I had available and told her "you are not helping out your business here at all".
No true apology ever given. She clearly didn't care. I used to enjoy going here, but the prices are too high and this clerk has totally ruined my taste for Farms Reach. I won't be back. And you won't be welcome there without cash or a chip card either. Because
I also heard from others of getting the same treatment.
I went right next door to the coffee stand and used my swipe card just fine. For that matter, it still works in any bank ATM or grocery store or multiple other places.
So I suggest they actually know the regulations before reprimanding a customer and telling me my card is "illegal."

The folks at Easy Times Espresso make a great cup of coffee or espresso. They are friendly and helpful and are always ready to give you a good drink. Expect a line most times of the day as other people know about this place, but the wait is worth it. They also have cookies and some sandwiches if you are hungry.
Don't pass this place up if you need a coffee drink, tea, slushie or berry drink. They are great!

A great spot to grab a bagel sandwich to take to the park. Great variety and quality food. You have choices of homemade bagels plane or as a sandwich. Not much for indoor seating.

We've been here several times and highly recommend it to anyone who loves good fish and chips. It is always crispy on the outside with firm, white, flaky fish inside. One of the amazing highlights of our visits here has always been the delicious coleslaw. I know! The coleslaw is usually the item that gets left on the plate, right? Not at Scampi and Halibuts - at least not for us. They put green apple in it, which gives it a lovely tart crunch that you don't get from cabbage alone. Delicious every time.

Sometimes you have the craving for a truly really wonderful breakfast. It's here and it is value priced -- meaning it's affordable. The corned beef hash is the best in town -- and I have made a very systematic study. The same is true for their vegetarian scrambles and hashes. And someone in the kitchen understands if you touch biscuits too much you ruin them. If you are looking for a place where you can afford to slowly eat through a yummy menu, look no further.
