The "Wharf Street Brew Pub" is situated on the historic Wharf Street in Port Alfred. It is housed in the oldest commercial building in Port Alfred completed in 1853. The decor is simple with pictures of old Port Alfred being the focal pointWe have micro Brewery attached to us and sell three of our own beers. Our food is a selection of Pub Style food like fish and chips, schnitzels and burgers ranging to freshly caught line fish, in house matured steaks and a host of other things in between. We pride our selves on good food and service so please pop in if only to sample our local brew, you might well end up staying for a bite to eat as many do after seeing our menu.
Amazing that a small town like Port Alfred can host a first class micro brewery. The associated restaurant is much more than a pub. Try the Kob or the Calamari . Burgers also substantial and good.

Most enjoyable meal, with both the calamari and fried aubergine starters being excellent. The Kingclip (and chips) was excellent, very tasty and beuatifyully cooked. Service was quick with friendly staff.
My only complaint - the ginger cat being allowed to roam around the various tables. Not acceptable in this day and age.

...when you dine here! Generous portions on offer and quality of food is good. Service a bit erratic especially as the restaurant started to fill up, but pleasant and cheerful staff. Nice setting with outside tables and upstairs Seating too. Would recommend and would return.

Spoil your family & eat out at Tahoe Spur. We are the best steakhouse & burger restaurant in Port Alfred. Bring along your kids for some great tasting food & dessert from our famous Spur menu.
The Spur chain has been the best steakhouse in South Africa for me since I visited Alan Ambor's first store in Rosebank Johannesburg. Today, it is a mess, and Tahoe Spur is as bad as they get....a burger patty is hard and dry, the bun is not a spur bun, the meat is covered in a gloopy red basting...the onions are white and floppy and covered in oil, the chips are floury and worst of all, the salad sauce is changed !!!! A steak also comes covered in red gloop, no sense of charring - the waiters hide away in the corner and you have to get up and go and fetch one ! We won't go again unless we read somewhere that they have had a rethink !!

This restaurant acts as a training platform for aspiring hositpitality professions...the meet and greet was handled well and attention at the table at times a little unsure, but kept in check by a more experienced waitron.
Lovely setting and food choices very good....
Would recommend and would eat there again,

Graze by the River is a coffee bar and bistro situated in one of the original 1820 settler's home next to the banks of the Kowie River in Port Alfred. The venue boasts a private garden area at the back of the property where you can escape from the busy Van der Riet street at the front of the property and enjoy freshly roasted coffee or sample some of the many homemade dishes on offer. The menu is based on locally available produce from fresh seafood, smoked meats and organic vegetables grown in the garden on site, interesting tasty dishes are supplemented by daily specials. The restaurant has its own smoker for preparing a lot of the dishes and the coffee bar roasts its own green beans daily ensuring good quality fresh coffee. So whether your looking for a great breakfast, some coffee and cake or a tasty homemade meal come and enjoy the experience of Graze by the River. Evening meals are strictly by reservation and we are closed on Wednesday.
Nick, the chef/owner is passionate about his food and where he sources his ingredients. Fish, meat and vegetables are obviously very fresh and of good quality, and he turns them into some great dishes, particularly the ones on the daily "specials" board which are always delicious.
We've eaten there 3 times recently, often taking guests, and never been disappointed.
Service is always excellent, with Nick introducing his specials in his own inimitable style, then taking the time to get feedback from each guest once served.
This is best restaurant in town right now in our opinion.

What a great find tucked away in a side street in PA, where one is greeted by everyone in the pub as if we have met already. With our second visit there we already started feeling part of the family!
We are always met with great friendly service, friendly patrons and staff alike!
And our favorite dish has definitely become the hot sticky chicken wings with sweet potato fries.
The rest of the menu is ample with a variety of mouth-watering snack baskets, starters and mains, suitable for the hungry and not-so-hungry who just want something to accompany their drinks.
There is also always a meal of the day at a giveaway price of R50.
A perfect stop between Port Alfred and Port Elizabeth!

We were looking for a coffee and a light lunch.and spotted this secluded little courtyard with a table under the shade of a gorgeous bouganvillia. (can't spell it!) Service was first class and very friendly. Couldn't rave about the food - but it was tasty and well presented. One of the highlights was the site of a nest in a tree overlooking the courtyard containing a pair of black crowned night herons with their (well grown) young. The waitress brought us a pair of powerful binoculars so that we could see them better. One of the more interesting eating out places in the town.

Port Alfred's hidden gem. By far the very best coffee shop the town has to offer.
Lovely setting, very friendly & welcoming people, and a menu to meet everybody's tastes.
Best Belgian waffles we've eaten in a while, delicious salads and scrumptious iced coffees.
Their breakfasts are a good way to start the day too.
