We had originally booked for 6o/c but because of events in Porlock we were able to change to later without any trouble.
When we arrived it was packed with diners and takeawayers.
An interesting range of pies were available between we had three which were tasty and more than adequate in size. One person had fish and chips which they enjoyed.
I would certainly recommend here and we will return.

We stayed hear for 4nights and was really pleased with our room. Modern, clean and a lovely ensuite with a super shower and good quality towels. The complimentary tea tray was well stocked with tea, coffee and nice biscuits. The staff were very friendly a special mention about Mike who was a joy to meet in the morning and cooked a great breakfast. However our beds were never made and on the 3rd day after we had done a 9 mile walk we returned to find our room had not been touched. We were were soaked from our walk and really wanted a hot drink and a shower but the cups were dirty,no milk and the towels were wet having used them for 3days. We had to go and ask for towels and told that it was the house keepers day off and it was a personal thing that they don’t make beds anyway . Well I have never ever experienced that before and it should be pointed out when booking. Because I make beds and clean at home everyday when I go away I want a total break not self catering. What a shame that we had to deal with that on our short break. So when booking check what day the housekeeper is off and if like me you like your bed made if this service will be provided. If you are staying 1night there won’t be a problem and would recommend.

Lovely pub with a great selection of dishes shown on a blackboard which covers a lot of a wall. The food was well prepared and tasty. The pub is well presented and the staff very friendly and helpful. We will return there.

I visited last weekend after a 5 mile hike along Granny's Ride high up in the glorious Horner Woods me stopped at these delightful tearooms for a delicious stem ginger Styles ice-cream served by friendly and happy staff. Thoroughly recommend this tearoom for excellent and friendly service.

After a lovely visit to the Whortleberry Tea Rooms last time we were in Porlock we decided to visit again. We weren't disappointed, the cooked breakfasts were delicious and the hosts as friendly as ever. We even returned in the afternoon after our walk and treated ourselves to a cream tea with famous Whortleberry jam. Make sure you don't miss out on visiting this little jem!

Alex and myself Annette, have recently taken over the Culbone Stables Inn on Exmoor. It is situated on the A39 between Porlock and Lynton in the idyllic heart of Exmoor. Our Inn and Gardens are in a beautiful setting and have exceptional views across the valley of Coombe. Our aim has been to renovate the restaurant back to a welcome, friendly Country Inn/pub. Our menu is traditional pub fare, at reasonable prices, using local produce. We welcome walkers, cyclists, families and dogs. We have 5 on suite bedrooms. 2 are opposite each other (one twin, one double) with their own landing and would be perfect for families. Room 1 has its own private patio, with stunning views. Our motto is , anything you want, just ask. We might not be able to fulfill some requests but there's no harm in asking.
Called in here on speck whilst touring the area. Staff attentive, and got the impression this was under new management. The ‘cook’ (not the chef he said), was cheerful and recommended the soup. Broccoli I and coconut. Strange flavour, hard to describe, not nice and gave up. The ploughman’s was generous, but plastic cheeses and slimy salad. Gave up.
If it was the first day, give them a chance, but only if they substitute quantity with quality in the food going forward.

Passed here many times over the years, finally popped in for a light breakfast and we were not disappointed, the toast was the chunkiest we have ever had, the home made marmalade was tasty and plenty of butter to accompany the toast, also lovely pot of tea and a mug of coffee, all topped off with good service...and not over priced.
