Georgian restaurant with excellent genuine cuisine; best out of all we tried in town. Everything from food to service was perfect. Full bar, with nice selection of Georgian wines (by Badagoni). Summer Terrace is a smoking area. Service charge of 10pct is included. Tricky to find but certainly worth it.

Traditionally-styled tavern with quite decent Ukrainian cuisine. Two levels, the lower one non-smoking area. The upper one is often given to banquets; this is where live music is played at night. 10pct service charge is added to the bill; UAH 8 (1USD) per person "for music" is automatically added to the bills of everyone sitting in the upper level when the music plays. Service is quite honest about food quality and provides helpful advice.
When I first visited Dykan’ka korchma (tavern) I remembered it as one of the best Ukrainian cuisine restaurants in Poltava. But it didn’t impress me too much on my return visit; maybe because of the wrong time we happened to get there.
When we barged in, the ground floor (non-smoking) looked like a “dating spot” of aged foreigners and young non-English-speaking local girls, sitting here and there. Their communication via “matron”-interpreters made us feel totally out of place at this marriage market. And on the upper level (smoking) there was a banquet dancing to low-grade “prison chanson”; too loud and well heard even on the ground floor.
The food remains fine, but not the best I ever tried. Grilled assorted meat [“pekel’na shtuchka”] was not really melting as wasn’t the Grilled veal with vegetables, but both tasted well to a bunch of hungry road-travellers. The veal sauce could have been less oily for my liking. I didn’t fancy the way they cooked Dranyky [Potato pancakes] – very thin, overdone and crispy; I prefer thicker and juicier ones. But my dining companions found them as well as Potato varenyky delicious. And of course, we tried famous Poltava Galushka’s [kind of dumplings or varenyky], ordering those with liver. I’m not a big fan of varenyky, but was curious how they cook them in Poltava. Galushka’s were served in the pot, and turned out bigger than expected and tasted as pies rather than dumplings. But this is the case when you need to try something even if you don’t like it – to know what the local specialty is. The servings were quite generous.
The waiting staff was fair and more or less attentive. We were brought English menus instead of Ukrainian; blame the dating event for this, but at least I learnt English menus are available. The waitress has been very open in telling for which meals the fresh meat was taken and for which the frozen one; all her recommendations were very appropriate.
Note that 10% service charge will be added to your bill automatically. Also, those sitting on the upper floor summer Terrace, where the live music plays at night, will be charged UAH 8 (USD1) per person “for the music” (even if you didn’t enjoy it).
Parking is on the street, right behind the trolleybus stop.
Not the best restaurant in Poltava, but quite ok to try Ukrainian food. It’s not centrally located, but is in a short drive from downtown.

This was a journey into the real Ukraine food experience. We went with grilled vegetables, salmon steaks and some great salads - sharing. The top off for the night was drinking some incredibly awful but powerful horseradish, lemon and vodka drinks! Believe me, those will finish you off!
The grounds are interesting with little huts both enclosed and open throughout the Gardens. It's real experience! Try It!

The cafe is located on the main pedestrian street of Poltava and has nice aroma of Lviv around. The staff is young and friendly. AND finally I found right latte in the Eastern Ukraine - tasty, foamy and creamy. AND they also have very nice outdoor Seating on sofas. Perfect!

A group went out for something to eat here and we were pleasantly surprised that they had good beef (I find this exceptionally rare in Ukraine) and good seafood as well and it culminated in a very delightful evening!
I had Tuna and others had various beef products and everyone was happy sharing and tasting each other's dishes and they were all good along with good sauces to choose from. The grilled vegetables were just right!
We also decided to spend a little time with coffees, lattes. and desserts and each of those was equally delicious!
This is an "underground" location but it is clean, modern and with good staff to get your orders.
I will go again because it has ambiance, class, and a pleasant general "feel" about it.
I don;t believe it is for large groups but certainly for smaller groups and couples!
Give it a try!

Hotel & Restaurant complex "Vivat Province" is located in the picturesque, historic area in the center of the field of the Battle of Poltava. Here and hotel, and restaurant, and brewery - where the beer is boiled alive, and a petting zoo,and the store - where you can always buy fresh produce of our sausage shop, and aromatic bread from our bakery.
Nice “village” territory, small houses, a little zoo, you can see even emu there!
Perfect beer and tasty food, Ukrainian national atmosphere. Fast and good service.
Poltava Galushiki are worth to try! I’ve never even heard about them before! There are so tasty and so different!!!!
Would love to come back!

Went for coffee and cake to try out this restaurant, We often use this technique before we fully eat at an unknown place. Use coffee and cake as a trial to test quality and service - and get a good look at the place and the menu. Well this passed with flying colours - We chose to sit on an enclosed balcony with a fabulous over the city, the interior of this restaurant is beautiful and very ornate. Everything is clean very clean. The service is friendly and attentive. The coffee and cake were good, there is better in Poltava but it is good and coupled with the interior and the view makes this a must try. We will be returning for a full meal in December.
