This place really stood out of a the amazing meals we had in Tuscany. My husband had the roasted pork shank and he is still talking about the flavor. We stopped by before they were open and made a reservation. Glad we did because even though the season was early they were packed. Don't miss this place in Pitigliano.

My wife and I didn't find too many restaurants in Pitigliano, and this one seemed nice. We had vegetables soup with crostini and egg, which was very good. I tried their calzone with porcini mushrooms and cheese. The calzone was really huge, see the photos. The place was nice, with good food. They make the pizzas and calzone right on the spot, so it can't get any fresher.

HOME inglese Welcome to Sorano , an ancient village in the Tuscan Maremma which along with Pitigliano and Sovana forms part of the three” Cities of Tufo” . This volcanic area, rich in nature , archaeological sites , caves , gorges and ravines has been witness to centuries of civilizations such as Etruscan, Roman , Byzantine and Lombard and noble families such as the Aldobrandesca and Ursinea . The ubiquitous element tufo has been constantly used to build extraordinary architectural works, including the “VIE CAVE” , still viable after centuries of use .. Looking at the environment we can observe the perfect harmony between the surrounding nature , generous dispenser of this malleable "raw material" and to which man has added his finishing touch. Within this striking context , also in a secular environment in which the ages have come and gone and visibly stratified , was born Cantina ,”The OttavaRima” . The short supply chain is the basis of our philosophy and our task is to select with meticulous care and passion that distinguishes us, the best of local food and wine . We personally know the owners of the companies with which we cooperate and we believe that it is of paramount importance both to better understand the product to present it in the best way . The raw materials of our dishes , such as the” picciola pear “, cured meats , unpasteurised and vegetable rennet cheeses are all produced by small family farms , carpaccio of Maremmana * , as well as the bottarga of Orbetello* (cured Bonito roe )and ,Tuscan sea Bonito* , are part of the traditional products that you can taste here , perhaps combined with local wines ( with a focus on organic and biodynamic ) or real ales from Arcidosso , Talamone and Alberese. And to close , the sweets of the territory such as "Sfratto of Goym" * or Island of Giglio “Panficato” and mutch more.rappa , herb liqueurs of Monte Amiata. * These are the Slow Food Presidia of the province of Grosseto.
After climbing down quite a few steps we found this restaurant tucked into a wall. Lovely atmosphere. The menu options were very limited and quite expensive for the portion sizes. The four of us went out for pizza afterwards.

Walked past it, took a stroll in the historic center to find a place to eat, eventually walked back to the Paradise - and was not dissappointed. Affordable (daily options approx 8 euros), friendly service. A good, small enough menu with several options with and without meat. Our group of four ate either pasta with mozzarella and greens, pasta in tomato sauce, carpaccio or lemon scaloppini (veal) with oven-baked potatoes. Everything delicious! It was the first time I tried the Pici pasta and fell instantly in love. Al dente, tasty, home made. Mjom! Potatoes were great and the portions were decent. The only thing plain was the house wine. Lunch for four with a litre of wine, two bottles of sparkling water, espressos and correttos, approx 50 euros.

Ristorantino piccolo, a gestione familiare, situato in aperta campagna tra la Tuscia e la Maremma. Si consiglia la prenotazione.Aperto sia a pranzo che a cena, giorno di chiusura: GIOVEDI'
after building our plumbing system perfectly, Lauro decided to give us superb dinners as well. Helped by his wife and daughter, he made us start with terrific appetizers - bruschetta, sott'oli, anchovies, vegetables from their kitchen garden. Then, obviuosly, Pitigliano's classic Pici all'agliata (kind of home made spaghetti with garlic and other spices in tomato sauce), the best Pici in twenty years of Pitigliano summers.
Our vegetarian dinners go on with more home grown vegetables and home made sweets - panna cotta, tiramisu, and others, all made by the young daughter who also very friendly waits at our table.
Don't aks me how the meat is - I don't know!
If you go there in the early evening in summer, the sunset in the fields is gorgeous.
The trip from Pitigliano, about 10 kms, is most pleasant through the woods.
Highly recommended.

The restaurant was created partly by chance. I have always had a passion for cooking and I was looking for a small restaurant run by a family with my wife Valeria. In 1992 a couple of friends left the "Tufo Allegro", which was then little more than a wine bar for tourists. The rilevammo, completely unaware of what was waiting for us ... From there, year after year, we started to grow and change the setting of the restaurant. Our major efforts have been made in the research and development of local dishes, made preferring where possible local produce and Maremma biologici.Un speech belonging sicaramente be made regarding the use of products from PRESIDIA SLOW FOOD. Our restaurant is part of the Alliance between chefs and principals, it commits us to have all year round on the menu at least three products of Deans. Of course you can not miss LO tired, typical Christmas sweet Pitigliano, now there throughout the year, nor will the MEAT MAREMMANA, in all its expressions, chops, Florence, tartare and tastiest parts of the forequarter, which become moist sauce and stews such as the famous Grand peposo.Durante the rest of the year turns on the menu other products such as bOTARGO Orbetello or bonito and between pulses, in the coldest periods of the year, LENTIL of ONANO. These allow you to express excellence every day to offer the best levels of service and a range of flavors and aromas typical of this corner of Tuscany.
We stopped for dinner based on the recommendation of 'Michelin guide food without the price tag'. We couldn't agree more. I have several intolerances and the chef/owner went through the whole menu with us. Our server was an absolute joy to spend a couple hours with. The love and passion put in the food was extraordinary. It has absolutely been the best meal and experience of our trip. See you for a few more meals before we go! Grazie per tutti!!!

Buzzing local trattoria with simple tasty food. Pasta we had was great and I saw some wonderful looking meat courses. Olive oil was good. No need for outside fancy umbrellas - get in there, relax and enjoy lunch with friendly local people.

The restaurant works by reservation only. It is preferable to notify at least one day in advance.
Our group of 18 walked about a mile from the town of Sovana, where we were staying and enjoyed one of the best meals of our trip at this Agriturismo. All foods and wine were local; the hosts were exceptional in their warm welcome, accommodating some of our group who were gluten free or vegetarian. They served 6 courses, each better than the other, until we were groaning with delight. The personal touch of fresh herb bouquets on each table, the serving, the general atmosphere was terrific. Thank God we had a car take us back! Note: They had the best time management of any place we ate on this trip, leisurely but timely....so no one was starving 1.5 hrs after arriving as had happened at other restaurants.

When you get to Pitigliano, you are blown away by the town. When we walked into Trattoria we felt right at home. The son was fantastic and Mama was a delight. We had a wonderful meal with a beautiful antipasta and then Penne with tomato sauce ( I asked for hot pepper and Mama knew just what I needed ) and the veal with porcini mushroom was delish. Wine selection was great with the Sangiovese making the meal complete. We celebrated my wife's birthday with tiramisu and a candle ( Mama provided! ). Truly wonderful experience. Ask for the back room if you have a party of 6 or more. Like sitting back in a room a thousand years old! The best eating experience we had in Tuscany.
