My wife and I dropped in at El Rancho Grande Restaurant in San Juan, Texas. We were not super hungry, so we shared a Panchos Mazatlan Plate. The plate was very generously served. Lots of grilled Fajita strips and plenty of cheese and toasted tortilla chips. The Jalapeno and onions can be had on top or on the side. This was a very enjoyable meal. We even had a to go box for the left overs. I would highly recommend this place. It is one of our favorites on our list.

The Patio on Guerra is a family owned restaurant serving prime steaks and seafood in the ambiance of a 100 year old building. Dining is hosted in both the indoor dining room as well as the beautiful outdoor patio for lunch and dinner. The outdoor patio also hosts live music on the weekends with contemporary jazz featured on Fridays and tropical salsa on Saturdays. There is a fully equipped private room that seats up to 65 guests and is readily available to accommodate business meetings and social events. Our staff looks forward to serving you and helping make your dining experience memorable.
What a GREAT restaurant! Located in an historic building and beautifully restored. The food could not be better. Dinner for our anniversary........table had a card indicating it was our anniversary with glitter sprinkled around. From the hostess to the waiter to the other staff the service was very attentive but not overbearing. We ordered the mushroom stuffed with lobster as an appetizer. The word to describe it is divine. Served with crackers but it is also delicious with the warm bread they serve. We both opted for the 10 ounce lobster tail and they were cooked to perfection. A salad and rice for my wife and soup and potatoes for me made for a complete meal. The chef prepared a dessert plate with their million dollar pie on it. The plate wished us a Happy Anniversary and included our names. Some would say the restaurant is too expensive but I would say that it is the perfect place for a special occasion. When we are back this way we will certainly return for another meal!

This is a beautiful restaurant. The staff are all very nice and accomodating. The food on the otherhand? My fried shrimp was just supposed to be regular fried shrimp but this was very spicy. It would have been nice if someone had told me about that earlier. At $25. for 12 small and medium sized shrimp it wasn’t cheap either. Hubby got the soft-crab @ 2 for $25. They were very small too; and they’d been flattened beyond recognition. Our server was young and new, we were his first customers, so I didn’t want to upset him, but he got the order wrong and took ages to serve/return.

If you don't want a tamale, then you should dine elsewhere. But if you do want a tamale, then stop on by!
This northerner family stopped in and enjoyed the pork and chicken tamales. Even our very picky pre-teen liked them.
Can't get anything like this back home.

We eat here often. All the choices are good. My wife prefers the half chicken and I like the Turkey. Sausage with Jalapeno I nice and spicy. All the meats are smoked just the right amount. The Rudy's spicy Barbecue sauce is outstanding.

So many tamale choices! Tamales are sold by dozen and half-dozen.
I ordered half dozen each of shredded beef and spicy pork to take back to the meeting room. These were awesome.
I didn't make it back to pick up some frozen tamales to take home. Maybe on the next trip.

The service was great! As soon as we entered the server was attentive and full of energy. He made our first experience great. He guided us through the process of picking a burger. The burgers are Texas sized and well delivered. Kinda pricy, but worth it.

Red Robin has broke the code on burgers and fries. I frequently order the Royal Red Robin which includes a fried egg amongst other great additions to this fabulous burger. My wife typically orders the Crispy Chicken Salad. Even though they have a very extensive menu we always seem to order the same thing - just can't make those entrees at home. Josh did a great job working our table making sure our drinks were full and made sure that the entire lunch met our satisfaction. A very clean restaurant, great food, and fabulous service - Red Robin in Pharr is the best - give them a try and get one of Josh's tables - he will make sure your experience has you coming back.
