We arrived here for lunch on recommendation of our friends (Belgians living in Lousa) as one of their favorite restaurants. As always in Portugal people seem to prefer lunch over dinner. We had an excellent experience at D Sesnando. We took the gratinated goat cheese 'Queijo Rabacal' a little pastry bottom with excellent cheese and little honey. For main we had the delicious Bacalhau Donna Ninna, fabulous onion sauce and fine crisply baked potatoes. Accompanied with two nice glasses of white wine, bread, olives ... all for 31 euro. This was our best Portugese meal ever!!

We have visited this restaurant many times over the years - not just for lunch when generally the restaurant is busy with locals but also in the evenings when it's quieter .
The host is gracious and welcoming trying his best to interpret my broken Portugese and helping with his "tourist English" .
They serve a variety of hearty local Portugese meals and the soup of the day is always excellent . Never once haven we left here feeling hungry and we always feel that we have had value , lunch for 5 with three courses , drinks and wine for 40Euros .
Charming host , good food , great value

This is a tipical Portuguese restaurant. We serve a meal deal at lunch time from Monday to Friday for the best value, in this deal is included soup, 1/2 dish of the day, a drink and a express coffee, all of this for just 7.00€€!! We have also got a huge variety of a La Carte dishes. The Cafe part of the restaurant is open all day. Please come in and try our delicious food! See you soon.
Not a fancy place, I was counting on that! But one of our orders had to go back twice (one of the times came back just the same way, not quite cooked!)... Not even na apology... not an acceptable service... not going back, for sure!We are really sorry to hear that. We have new management now, so please give it another try and we will definitely surprise you this time. Kind Regards, The 'Restaurante Santo Amaro' management

The food is of extraordinary quality. They use home grown products and the food preparation exponentiates the flavours. From starters to Deserts, the experience was great. The service is very competent, fast and attentive. It's a place that deserves a visit even from people that are not staying at the hotel.

Interesting establishment. Cafe, bar, shop, restaurant. Original unadulterated typical small Portuguese restaurant behind a separation. Friendly staff and a good choice of standard, home cooked fare. Everything freshly made. Good portions and good quality. Open all hours. Value for money.

Every time I have the chance, I have lunch at this wonderful local restaurant in Rabaçal, O Cantinho da Clotilde. The town is located south of Coimbra in a beautiful part of Portugal, close to the roman ruins of Conimbriga, this is worth the drive through the olive groves and small farms that dot this rocky countryside famous for its cheese and olive oil. The food is typical Portuguese and always wonderful. Often it is full of locals, which is a good sign of good value for the price. The atmosphere is homey and cheerful. This time we all ate feijoada, best described as a combination of beans, sausages, and other stuff. It was delicious. We had a jar of local red wine, some local cheese, and a home made dessert. A perfect lunch. Last time I was there, I had chanfana that was also just superb. This restaurant never disappoints, but you have to be prepared to eat the local traditional foods. Don’t tell anyone about it except your seven best friends!

A modern British restaurant in the heart of beautiful Penela. Offering Daily Menu and A La Carte. 12.30pm to 8.30pm
Our return visit after we enjoyed it the first time. Poor. 4 different types of steak ordered all wet back virtually untouched and they never said a word. the starters were ok. we wont be going back.

Visited twice - once for dinner and once for lunch. Both meals were excellent and incredible value. Very large portions! The staff both English and Portuguese are delightful. The lunchtime set menu is a steal at 7 euros. Lookout for the new downstairs fine dining restaurant opening soon.
