My husband and I had a gift certificate for the Fried Chicken Dinner which is served on Sundays. Totally awesome fried chicken. $12 gets you coleslaw, pan fried chicken (all you can eat), mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans or corn, ice tea or lemonade, and a dessert. Beer or wine is available at extra cost. This food is not something thrown together out of a box, this is just delicious country food. My husband and I will definitely be going back and have already told our family and friends. An extra bonus was the service was impeccable.

We loved this place.!!!
We stopped here for dinner on our way home from our Kansas City vacation on a Tuesday, early evening. Since it wasn't a weekend they weren't super busy and we were seated right away by a friendly waitress. We both ordered the fried chicken and were told
it would take 25 minutes. That was fine with us since we could have plenty of time to decide which dessert to take home for later!! The desserts are displayed in lighted glass cases and are works of art. One case has pies of every kind....another has three layer cakes of all varieties and the last had enormous cream puffs. Trying to pick just one is like trying to pick your favorite child...impossible!!!
The chicken arrived and it was perfect ..juicy with a delicious breading and huge pieces.
The mashed potatoes, gravy and green beans were seasoned just right and all tasted like my Mom had cooked them.
After much thought we decided to each take home a slice of cake.I had carrot cake and
my husband chose Oreo cake.We could have easily split one slice. They are enormous!!!
At least 6 inches tall!! We ended up eating the cake over two nights. One slice only cost $3.75!!!! What a bargain. I don't know how they make a profit but I am so happy this place is only about 50 miles from St.Louis. We will go back for more meals and desserts (to go). How to decide between the cream puffs or the pies??? Maybe I will get one of each!!
Go here during the middle of week. The waitress said on the weekends it's continuously busy for 5 to 6 hours straight. Well worth the wait though.

For the longest time,I lived for the summer months that snowensville would be open. The shaved ice is by far the best you'll have. The snow shakes are my go to, and the delights (shaved ice mixed with ice cream) are incredible. This is our family go to for a treat because it's amazing and affordable. Fast forward a few years and they open year round with specialty mini donuts and coffees and it's again our family go to for treats. The mini donuts come in so many flavors and are a huge hit with our whole family. My favorite is a toss up between the Boston cream pie and the peanut butter crunch. I still look forward to shaved ice season, but getting to have delicious and fresh minis once a week or so is a wonderful treat. The staff is always friendly, and the line moves quickly.

Stopping at an antique store in Rosebud, Missouri, today, the owner told us to drive a couple of miles up the road to Bare Bones BBQ for lunch. It's the best BBQ I've ever had, she told us. It's probably the best BBQ we've ever had, too. It doesn't look like much on the outside, and without her recommendation we'd probably never have stopped. But never judge a book . . . It's small, but clean, and cutely decorated. Friendly patrons and a friendly waitress all greeted us. Even the pit master, like chefs in other fine restaurants, came to our table and chatted with us. Hubby and I both ate pulled pork sandwiches, but his came with grilled onions, cheese and house smoked bacon. The Boss Hog. I sampled the bacon and wished I'd ordered some, too. Amazing. We both ordered $2 root beer floats and loved them. We'd go back to this place in a heartbeat if only we lived in the area. Don't pass this place up. Open Thursday thru Sunday.

My husband and I dined here last night. There was a large variety of Mexican food to choose from. I was trying to eat healthier so I ordered the grilled fish with shrimp. It was served with a side of rice and lettuce and sour cream. It was very good. It was a large portion and I brought half of it home. My husband ordered a beef dish that he liked. Service was very good until we got ready to leave. We had to ask for our check twice and was finally told to come up to the register and they would ring us out. Would probably return if ever in Owensville again.

Friends and family stop here with me whenever we are traveling HWY 50, whether our destination is ultimately Rosebud or not... We always stop for coffee and assorted treats. Nice, simple menu. Delicious brews. Great atmosphere!!!

Twisters is the bar and restaurant associated with Tornado Alley, Owensville's only bowling alley. Whereas your usual bowling alley restaurant fare consists of, burgers, & pizza and, everything else deep fried, Twisters has that, but also steaks, chicken, and seafood. They also have stuff that's not brown--salads and veggies. One of their specialties are their wings, which come in a variety of styles and heat levels. They serve the wings everyday, but they're especially good on Wednesdays at 50 cents each. If you're passing through Owensville, or live near here full time, Make Twister's one of your stops. You'll be happy with the result.

The pretzel and beer cheese appetizer is HUGE. The burgers are very good and I love the ribeye steak sandwich. They usually have all you can eat catfish dinner on Friday nights. The catfish is crispy fillets and super tasty. We go almost every Friday.

We grew up in St. Louis with a preference for "St. Louis Style Pizza" and unfortunately, the closest Imo's is 35 miles away. The next best thing for us in Owensville is Casey's. It is not St. Louis style by any means, but everything about the pizza they make is good. Super fresh ingredients, plenty of cheese and a crust that's not too thin or not too thick and the sauce has a good flavor. It's a pleasant surprise that a gas station convenience store can do such a great job with their pizza.
