Oviedo is a treasure trove of Spanish religious architecture, dotted with monasteries, cathedrals and shrines that date all the way back to the 9th century. Soak up the rich history of the city by experiencing El Fontán Market, the San Isidoro el Real Church and the Castle of San Juan de Priorio, then shift aesthetic gears and check out modern architectural gems like the Prince Felipe Auditorium and the Jirafa building.

What a surprise to stumble upon a quality restaurant with such personalized service! We are new to Spanish dishes yet everything we ordered from the wine, appetizers, main dishes, our taste of cava, desserts and coffee were delicious. The atmosphere was elegant with white table clothes and their touch of class. We felt privileged and welcomed to have shared their dinners.

We went to Del Arco restaurant (not be confused with their tapes bar on the ground floor next door) on Tripadvisor recommendations and a recommendation from fellow travellers we met the week before.
It certainly is one of the top fine dining experiences in Oviedo. The restaurant takes internet bookings and that work perfectly for us on both occasions.
S I said the "restaurant" is up stairs and is classic European opulence with timber lined walls and lush red carpet. Naturally tableware dressed in starched white linen.
No speaking any spanish did not present a problem as they have an english version of the entrees and mains (but sadly not the deserts).
Our friendly waiter spoke fine english. We decided to have the "special vegetables" as a shared entree based on his recommendation. This was a sensational dish and we had it a second time on or return visit.
For mails we had the pork belly (called pig on the menu) which I had on both visits and my wife had the lamb fillet on the first visit and the tuna on the second.
Everything was simply delicious and the Deserts were also sensational.
All up including a bottle of rose on both occasions - 110 euros! Excellent value for this type of dining

The reviews here were spot on. Fabulous food and a great ambience. Rated one of the top four for romantic, I had my doubts at lunch time, but the two main rooms are intimate and really lovely. I sampled the traditional Asturian bean stew dish - Fabada - and found it awesome. And then there's the extensive list of Spanish wines priced under, 20 euros that is amazing. We had a bottle called "Twelve Moons" that combined four grapes and was our best of the week. We enjoyed four very good restaurants during this visit, but Ca Suso was the best of them. I should mention the very charming waiter who spoke to me in English and my girl friend in Spanish. He was pretty amazing.

Been there last week for business meeting. I heard about this restaurant time ago. The good is good and tasty, we had the tasting menu with a glass of different wines included in the price, also had the jamon serrano (is specially selected my the...MoreAndres thank you very much for taking the time and devote so highly . We will move its opinion to the team that formed the De Labra family. Best regards and hope to see you soon in our restaurant

La Jamonería es un restaurante de cocina tradicional con más de 20 años de historia en Oviedo. Proponemos a nuestros clientes una oferta de calidad donde se aprecia una exquisita selección de las materias primas
I had dinner there with friends, and at the first sight the place didnt look like what i really is once the food is on the table. Their "embutidos" are outstanding and have a great quality and taste, their meat is absolutely delicious and prepared to make it melt in your mouth. Its really worth it. Dont be fooled by the overall look of the street and the inside of the restaurant, it has a great price-quality relation, you are not playing an expensive place in the city center.

We met a friend here for dinner, and it was wonderful. When we told her where we wanted to meet, the expression on her face indicated we had picked the perfect spot. The Sangria was very good, perfect blend of flavors and not to sweet. For appetizer, we had duck pate' and croquettes. Both were excellent. Meals (I don't remember the exact menu items) -- Salad with fish, mixed greens, and fresh fruit; Steak with rice and saute'd vegetables. The portions were large, and the food was fantastic. Server was excellent and very helpful. We were there for nearly 4 hours and were not rushed at all. The total bill for two appetizers, two pitchers of sangria, five meals, and cafe con leche came to about 120 Euro. Considering the quality of the food and the ability to sit at a place for so long and not be hassled, I think it was well worth the money. Honestly, meeting with our friend added to the fact that we had a great time, but still the food and atmosphere were perfect for a night of getting re-acquainted.

Casa de comidas tradicional con producto de temporada y especialidad en platos de cuchara y platos veganos
This restaurant is 8 or 9 kms out of Oviedo to the South West, just outside a village called Las Caldos (hot Springs) where there is a large spa complex.
This is family run bar and restaurant in a tiny Hamlet, you can easily miss the Restaurant - it is bright blue - this may help!
It is set on a hillside with a great view over the river valley below. There is a large Terrace and a small bar area, once you go inside there is a friendly welcome, and your are shown through to a large dining room, along with a semi outdoor and a further outdoor Terrace dining area.
They generally have a set menu, including a veggie/vegan option, as well as an a la carte menu. For 22 Euro you have a choice of three starters, three mains, and five or six Deserts. We had the choice of:
Fabada (local bean stew similar to Cassoulet) , Octopus and prawn Carpaccio salad, salted cod pate,
Cook your own steaks on a hot mountain rock, Wild boar casserole, Grilled Fish.
We had the Octopus, Salted Cod, Grilled fish and Wild Boar Casserole. All were great, good portions, - not too big, but lovely fresh ingredients, well prepared and with very friendly and helpful service.
All the puds seemed great, I got the impression that they would change frequently.
So slightly more expensive than some "local" restaurants, but a great experience, good quality food, in an ideal location. We will return.

If my mother had been Spanish then she'd have cooked food like they serve here. Delicious.
Very friendly and cosy Taberna. We had the traditional Fabada Asturiana which wasn't shown on the menu, this came in large bowl and was an enormous portion and delcious. Croquettas were delicious and the grilled Iberico pork too.
No room for dessert , we walked 1.5 miles back to our Hotel to help it all go down.
Definitely great food and excellent value.

I highly recommend this bar/restaurant to Spaniard or American travelers alike! The kitchen is spotless and the dinning area in the back is decorated with simple and homey touches. Fresh flowers are usually scattered throughout the bar area as well. I beg everyone to try the rice pudding ,or arroz con leche! In a region famous for arroz con leche recipes, this is simply the best ever. Teresa the chef can manage quite well in English.
