The Koliba Restaurant is located on the famous path of the pilgrim who leads from Bogetici towards the famous Montenegrin sanctuary, Ostrog monastery. It was built in a recognizable Montenegrin style, according to the model and features of traditional Montenegrin architecture. Conceptually designed as a national restaurant, affirms and promotes healthy nutrition and returns to me everything that our old people used to eat. The restaurant is marked with four stars. Koliba Bogetići offers its guests a wide choice of Montenegrin specialties prepared in a traditional manner. At any time of the day you can order: a cicatre, a ketchup, a dried sheep's basket, a peppermint ham, a veal or a lamb under the honeycomb, a homemade cheese and a kajmak, or you will opt for a specialty home known as the "KOLIBA". The cottage also carries a prestigious CD label that places it among the privileged restaurants when it comes to the diet of diplomats from all over the world. Apartments Accommodation capacity consists of five bungalows and eight rooms. The bungalows are of apartment type, made of wood. They are equipped with air conditioning, mini bar, satellite TV and internet connection. Two bungalows are four-bed and three are five-bed. Five-bed bungalows on the ground floor have a room with a double bed, and on the first floor there are French and plain beds. Four-bed bungalows have a French bed on the ground floor and two beds on the floor. Two triple and six double rooms are located above the restaurant. They are equipped with air conditioning and TV. Bathrooms are not part of the room, but separately in the hallway. Double rooms have two plain beds, and in triple rooms there is one French bed and one single bed.
We were recommended this restaurant by the owner of the apartment we are staying in; while his other recommendations have been spot on, this one left us slightly disappointed. It is conveniently located on the main road down from Ostrog monastery and is easily identified by it's green roof (it's also the only restaurant for miles).
Having visited the monastery early in the morning, we were quite early for lunch, but there were plenty of other diners who were clearly in the same situation. We were seated promptly and the waiter came to take our drink orders, but never came back to take our food order; I had to stop him as he was walking past to ask if we could place our order and even then we had to wait for him to return.
Two of my children liked the sound of the spit roast lamb, but he said the roast lamb was even better, so we decided on 1 spit roast and 1 roast, my younger daughter decided on a burger and I chose the veal soup.
The food took ages to arrive, we weren't too concerned as it just meant we'd be eating at a normal time, but food was being delivered to other tables that had arrived after us. When it did turn up, it was very mixed. My veal soup was delicious and the burger was tasty enough, although interestingly came without a bun. The lamb was less successful. The roast lamb came covered in a local cheese, which wasn't as unpleasant as it may sound, but masked the fact that there was more fat then meat on the bones. The spit roast lamb was the identical meal, but without the cheese, I'm not convinced it was what we'd ordered .They came with potatoes and a vegetable rice dish, both of which were quite tasty.
What really let the place down was the service; at no time did anyone check that we were happy with our food, or even if we wanted more drinks. Even when we had clearly finished eating, nobody came to clear our plates away and I had to get the waiter's attention to ask for the bill. I didn't have the correct money, but nobody came to collect it so I could get my change.
Apart from the amount of fat on the lamb, the rest of the food was tasty enough, but Koliba is really let down by the service.

After arriving late in Nikšić following a long drive down from the Mountains, we needed a place to eat that was above all close to our apartment. Nutricia was only a 5-minute walk away and so was ideal. The restaurant has a few tables outside and in the room on the ground floor, but we were shown to the upper floor, to a table beside the open window, which was lovely. Being a Tuesday night, it was quiet, so service was no problem and the waitress (who had no English) was very attentive.
The menu was extensive, almost too much choice. It came with an English translation (which did not correspond to the Serbian version, confusingly). The food was absolutely delicious - and came in enormous portions! We started with a plate of Njeguška pršuta (Montenegro's wonderful smoked, cured ham) and then went straight into my main course (my partner wasn't feeling too well and stopped after the starter), ćevapi - those wonderful grilled minced meat "sausages", accompanied by a salad and a huge side dish of chips (fries) which defied completion. Enerything was well prepared and presented, in the unassuming and unpretensious surroundings of what is, all told, an excellent restaurant. I'm sorry I was only in town for one night...
The cost, too, was a very pleasant surprise and considering the quality of the food it was excellent value for money.
