I thought I was slick taking my family near by to dinner and going for ice cream after dinner but there were more slick people than myself. This place was packed. Well orchestrated line on a nice evening. Everyone conversing about what they are going to order or what they have had in the past. This was our first time but well worth the experience.

Pub Tavern Restaurant Serving Newtown & Danbury, CT
While attending wedding in nearby Oxford, five of us dined at the Foundry. Wonderful old place (restored) in center of town adjacent to the Pootatuck River. Yes, you heard that right. Menu was sort of new age Yankee/Americana with eclectic variety including vegetarian and vegan offerings to please our 30 something children. Local produce adds to the taste and delight. Having said that, I had the vegetable curry and it was fabulous. I'm a curry nut but this had wonderful new flavors I've never experienced. The veggies were like Rice Krispies: "snap, crackle and pop"! It was not as spicy as I liked but I forgot about that halfway into the meal. My wife's Reuben was a cut above.....maybe two cuts above. Quiet and unhurried atmosphere where you linger and not feel rushed. Chipper service by Kerry (our server) who was patient with the veg crowd asking numerous questions including going back and checking with kitchen staff. Upper crust crowd, 90% locals we thought and a bit pricy but worth it. Recommend in a heartbeat.

Returning home from a day long trip to NY State, we made our 1st stop at this diner. We were very pleased with everything, the food, service, price and portions. I don't recall ever ordering a ham dinner out, other than a breakfast meal, but this was incredible. Soup, salad, bread, a veggie, and a huge, thick slice of a great tasting ham slice. The left over piece became today's breakfast, and my wife's meal was perfect as well. We'll remember this for future I 84 trips!

Best Bagels outside NYC. Big, Hot if you go early, doughy and fluffy. Eunice is like a Newtown angel who amazingly knows patrons by name and makes you always feel spacial when you show up for a bagel, a homemade muffin a sandwich whatever...whether daily or only once in a while. Love her, love the bagels, love the way you feel special when you stop by.

Stylish bistro serving elevated American comfort food with an elegant ambiance. Seasonal appetizers and entrées are paired with over 40 wines by the glass and 200 by the bottle, along with a curated craft beer, spirits, port and sherries list. Wine Spectator Award of Excellence.
Found this restaurant while taking a walk around the area. Decided to come back for dinner. Service was decent. The living room-type of atmosphere in the main bar/room was very nice. We didn't see the upstairs dining area. There is outdoor seating on the porches. It might be loud if the road is busy. One thing I didn't like much was that if seated in the main living room area for dinner you are sitting at what feels like an outdoor metal bistro table and chairs. Maybe the designer liked the look but it just felt like everything else was so nice why use this choice. The lighting was good but a little bright right over the tables - I'd have preferred a small candle or alternative on the table itself. I thought wine prices were acceptable.
We ordered salads which were not memorable and fairly small for price. One person ordered a steak. The steak was cooked to the right temperature but quality-wise - I could buy a better cut from Stop and Shop - clearly the restaurant could do better as this is why steak lovers go out for steak - restaurants usually have access to quality that the average shopper does not. Friend asked for fries instead of fingerlings and the fries were overdone. The asparagus was charred black and overcooked. Two of us had lamb burgers - I liked mine and it was cooked to the right temperature but the other one was way overcooked (and we had requested the same - "medium"). The bun was sort of an "enriched" hello Arnold's type of sesame bun. One of us ordered the glazed salmon and coconut rice. It was a pretty small portion and I thought kind of inedible as it was sweet and the rice was a liquidy puddle. We decided to skip dessert. All in all, I would give this restaurant another chance but I do hope they improve the food for prices they are asking.

Nice family atmosphere. We sat on the first floor- decor inside was relaxing and peaceful. I was surprised at how quick the place filled up. Service was good. My water cup never emptied out completely because they were so attentive. Food came out timely. I wasn’t overly impressed by the taste but liked it enough to try it again.

Family stop during the week and we all chose the $19.95 pre-fix that includes appetizers, main and dessert.
All the dishes were very good from the appetizers of fried calamari (not rubbery), artichoke bruschetta to fried mozzarella and continuing with Manicotti, Chicken parmigiana over pasta to Shrimp special over linguine.
Chocolate mousse also great. Fantastic service and the owner chef coming out to check on how was the meal was a pleasant surprise .
Will be back.

My wife and I went to Dere St Restaurant to celebrate her birthday. In our opinion it is best place to eat in Newtown.
Modern setting, friendly and helpful staff, excellent food, reasonable prices. We will certainly be going back.
