First time we stopped I thought the food was good and prices were cheap. Prices are still relatively cheap and that probably explains why the place is crowded. Because it’s not the food. I ordered scrambled eggs and pancakes. Eggs had a strange taste - like dish detergent. Pancakes were not done - so were not really edible. My wife’s burger was so cold it did not melt the slice of cheese they put on it. What happened?

Walk through Newberry on a rainy evening pre-concert at the Newberry Opera House and found Half Full open. We had coffees and an appetizer. Everything looked appealing. Menu had appetizers, sandwiches, salads, desserts, wines and coffees. Nice atmosphere, nice staff! We will go again.

The fresh baked warm homemade bread is a treat. Fresh picked local produce expertly prepared was lovely. The almond cookie 'basket' filled with fresh fruit, ice cream and whipped cream was exceptionally delicious. At home we use a heavier hand seasoning food and Steven will happily cater to special requests in reference to seasoning and things which aren't on the menu.
In rural environs it can be difficult to find the place locals frequent for a special evening meal. Local residents don't normally need or use rating apps. I feel fortunate to have found Steven W's.
In rural areas I wouldn't expect the same style or use the same standards as restaurants typical in NYC, DC, etc. I do like to know I'm receiving the best available dining experience.

I have a great fondness for Tea Rooms. I recently enjoy this lovely new Tea Room in the heart of downtown Newberry, SC. What a delightful place! The owners greeted us during our arrival and thanked us upon departure. Decor is so very pretty and they offer hat choices in case you would like to wear one. Such a great place for a girlfriends lunch, or that special Mother & Daughter Tea Time. I am sure the Dad's would enjoy it just as much. The food was very fresh and quite tasty. The pastries were simply amazing!

They are now the only place in town except for some true Mexican restaurants on the outskirts of town. The staff is always friendly and they work very hard to get you in and out within a hour or less. I usually get the Speedy but I'm told their fish tacos are quite good as well as their nachos. Save room for their complimentary dessert of ice cream.

Quite, good music to enjoy to meal. Not loud music. We had the dinner salad and vegetable soup. The soup was tomato based with corn, green beans, okra, potatoes. Good tasting. The main meal was grilled shrimp with a baked potato. They gave you an ample number of shrimp and the potato seemed fresh, not reheated. The hamburger steak was well cooked and moist. That came with fries and cole slaw. The servers were attentive and friendly. Very nice place for couples and family dining.

The host aka "papason is what makes Fusion popular. His warmth and energy are amazing. But it stops there, this is actually a chain restaurant and this manager keeps them coming. He seems to know everybody by name and their favorite orders. We enjoyed his hospitality but the food was not impressive. It was limited sushi and many entrees but the complete meal was similar to any Asian restaurant in any town. An ok meal but no need to repeat.

Cabana's Grill above the Storm Celler is a small, high-end restaurant providing outstanding food and service. Our third visit was the evening following the local college's graduation and the restaurant was packed. Reservations were a must. Only drawback was the restaurant was uncomfortably warm, perhaps the crowd and the lack of background music. No music aggravated the noise generated by the diners making conversation difficult. We loved the grilled seafood, the salads were outstanding, app and desert to die for. If you are in Newberry and love great food, try Cabana's

Fine dining located in historical downtown Newberry, SC; Figaro is a few doors down from the Newberry Opera House and is open daily for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner and serves brunch-only on Sunday.
In the course of dining at hundreds and hundreds of eateries throughout the United States, Canada and Europe, I have encountered quite a few instances of lousy service, poor food, arrogant chefs and patronizing managers. I’ve seldom encountered all four problems in the same place, however, and rarely in an upscale restaurant. That’s why I found our recent dining experience at Figaro particularly unsettling. The central problem occurred when we were served ribeye steaks ($36 each) that were from demonstrably poor cuts (40 % unchewable gristle and fat). One of them was also not cooked as ordered. When we tried to send the undercooked one back to the kitchen, we couldn’t get the attention of our server, who made several trips to a nearby table without glancing in our direction. When we finally got first the server and then the manager involved, our frustration grew. The manager said the chef wasn’t satisfied with our complaint, and had suggested that my wife didn’t really understand the concept “medium well”. I explained that my wife, who has been eating steak for more than 60 years, most certainly knows that a medium well ribeye doesn’t leak red fluid and have a thick layer of pinkish red inside. The manager and the chef seemed to agree that my wife should be happy with a gristly steak not cooked to her liking. When we left, the manager removed the flat bread appetizer from our bill, even though we had pronounced it delicious and told him we would gladly pay for it. We were charged full price for the steaks.
On a more positive note. Figaro is cozy-small (seats about 40), very nicely decorated, clean, and quiet. Our pizza-like Veggy Flat Bread appetizer was absolutely delicious, and so was our scallop side dish ($10 for three large scallops). There is a very nice craft beer selection, including locals, and I was charged just $4 for an excellent Green Man porter.

We drove by this place a few times before we decided we were in the right place. A non descript brick building with small signs on both sides of the door. This place had very friendly service and a young man cooking burgers. And boy could this young man cook! Fresh pattied burgers cooked to perfection, served with yummy chili and fresh tomatoes. The sweet tea is just what it should be. If you are ever in the area stop by, you will not be sorry!
