In New Orleans the good times are perpetually rolling down Bourbon Street, which, thanks to the city’s annual Mardi Gras celebration, has quite a party animal reputation. Once you’ve soaked up the scenery of the historic French Quarter, tour the elegant Garden District and meet the colorful characters of Frenchmen Street. Experience the city's supernatural vibe at the Voodoo Museum or by taking a guided ghost or vampire tour through taverns, alleyways, and cemeteries.

Been a few years since I visited New Orleans, but GW Fins was on my todo list and I am sure glad it was. The food was fantastic, the service exemplary, and the evening was a great success. This is a DO NOT MISS establishment for "foodies!"

Upperline Restaurant

Upperline Restaurant is New Orleans, LA's local haven where tasty Louisiana cuisine, serious wine, and Creole hospitality is always served.

While we have been to NOLA many times over several decades this was our first trip to Upper Line.
Reservations have to be made by phone, where the owner informs you that they are not in the Quarter and you can’t walk to the restaurant and it is a cab ride away. Then she tells you that you can eat at 6:15p.m or 8:30p.m., even though you want to make a reservation weeks in advance. She is a successful institution in NOLA and she apparently couldn’t care less whether she attracted new customers or not.
It is pre fixed menu and well priced for (3) courses. Three in our party had Fried Green Tomatos with Shrimp Remoulade which everyone enjoyed. Three of us had the veal Grillades which were excellent but a microscopic portion. One of us had the Rack of Lamb and three of us had the Sundae Eugene and I had Irish coffee.
It was very good meal but hardly worth all the fuss and a taxi ride. As we were leaving regulars were greeting the owner as if she were Julia Child herself.

Fabulous food! We went for lunch and tried small plates of pickles, tabouleh, brussel sprouts. All were excellent. Tried 2 different hummus the asparagus and tahini again both excellent. Split the chicken schnitzel sandwich and again excellent. Hot fresh cooked pita ...coming out constant..delicious!
We did get dessert..actually tried 3 and sorry to say they all missed the mark. But did not really care as all the other food was outstanding!
Enjoy!

Great little afternoon stop for my wife, my daughter and me. I had the Lomo Bocadillo which was very nice. My wife had the Il Mostro, which was really really good. I preferred hers. My daughter had the rustic grilled cheese with bacon added. A little heavy, but it was pretty decent. They have a good Bloody Mary and a great local craft beer selection. The restaurant itself is cute. We sat outside just because it was a pretty day out but the inside decor and setup is inviting also. The prices are moderate-high so be prepared to spend $12+ on just your sandwich. It’s worth it though. Pickle plate had some great variety and flavors, highly recommend. Really great service. Great experience over all. We’ll be back!

We picked Rebirth based off the Tripadvisor reviews. Our meal exceeded our expectations. We started with an Old Fashioned, so full of flavor. Then appetizers, the fried oysters and fresh pasta...perfectly delicious. We also tried the southern Clam Chowder-full of seafood. Dinner was Blackened Scallops...perfect! And dessert we tried the Creme Brûlée, creamy and rich. And the white chocolate bread pudding is perfect.

Restaurant August

The cuisine at August is contemporary French with a focus on local ingredients, inspired by Chef John Besh's classical training here and in Europe, and by the depth of his own Southern Louisiana roots. August is located in an historic 19th century French-Creole building in New Orleans' Central Business District. August was a semifinalist for the 2012 and 2013 James Beard Awards Outstanding Restaurant, and has been selected by Gayot as a top 40 Restaurant in the United States. We excitedly braved Mardi Gras crowds and torrential rains to visit Restaurant August. The food was very nice and the service was very nice but if I'm spending this type of money, I don't want to be rushed out the door. Start to finish, including an appetizer ~ 1 hour 5 minutes. I will not go back.

When we select a place to have a good meal, many factors are taking into consideration...ambiance...food...service...etc.

My recent dinner at this restaurant on Saturday, March 17 is to be remembered! Why?
Because we had the worst service anywhere else at any of the restaurants I have eaten in all the places I have visited....all over planet earth!

I give the food I ate 5 Stars!!

The waitress was unfriendly, rude, non receptive, uncommunicative, no manners and and to top it all, had an attitude! We had to ask for our second glass of wine, the menu was thrown at our table, the food served szx thrown almost at a distance...not once the asked how was everything................a nightmare...not one smile...was she doing me a favor? was the food for free? of course, not!

We talked to the manager who offered us something on the house. We declined! we paid our bill and left.

Personnel AND manager need to get their act together or I don't see a distant future for this restaurant where I have had pleasant experiences in the past.

Best,

Authentic Colombian fare. Arepas were cooked to order. Service is slow, but server explained that each order would take at least 30 minutes. They were able to modify the menu for vegan options. The yuca fries were good as were the Arepas and Maduros.

Make a reservation! The place is cute, but small and you might have a long wait to get in otherwise.

Parkway Bakery & Tavern

Parkway Bakery & Tavern is a New Orleans restaurant and family dining tradition located at the corner of Hagan and Toulouse overlooking Bayou St. John in Louisiana.

Reviewed By Noms84 - Sydney, Australia

Had dinner tonight at Parkway Bakery and Tavern and let me tell you we were not disappointed!

We ordered one surf and turf and one traditional hot roast beef roll plus some sides of chili and sweet potato fries and it was way too much food!

Not a chance we were going to finish this meal no matter how delicious it was.

While a little out-of-the-way still totally worth the trip.

Also the lovely bartenders ordered as a cab to get back to our hotel at the end of the evening as there was no Wi-Fi for a Uber.
