Getting off the bus after a walk around Cremorne Point, we looked to the right saw a buzzy restaurant, and thought let’s book a table for the following evening. It’s hard to describe the food as it is so eclectic, a mix of African, Indian, Mediterranean and who knows where else so it’s worth checking out the menu.
We chose the ‘prix fixe ‘ menu which at $44Aus is a bargain. Think tapas style. Every plate was beautifully cooked with multilayered flavours.Eight plates of food for four people each plus appetisers is more than enough for anyone. The house wines are to be recommended.
We booked a table at 8pm. It was heaving at the time and remained so until we left. The staff were helpful and the service good. I’m sure we will go again before we leave Sydney for home.

Sails on Lavender Bay is perched on the shore of Sydney’s magnificent harbour with post card views of the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge. It is the perfect venue for those wanting to experience the quintessential beauty of the city. Sails on Lavender Bay is accessible by either ferry, private boat or car. The menu is original and extensive - reflecting the seasons and freshness of the local produce. The menu offers what can be described as “refined modern Australian”, with an emphasis on fresh seafood. The award winning wine list comprises of over 130 Australian and International wine varietals that have been sourced and compiled by our sommelier.
We had a meal not long after new year with two friends from Sydney and were very much looking forward to noshing our way through the Tasting Menu with accompanying recommended wines (7 courses if my memory serves me right).
The food on every plate was extremely good and beautifully presented. Tasting menus are by definition small amounts but the range of tastes and textures served up were stunning and the discussion around the table about each course lasted all evening. The service was very professional as befit the location and price and the wines were well chosen, though also served in "tasting" amounts which was a little frustrating when you get one that really fits your palate.
The visit was expensive but the whole package (location, ambiance, excellent service, food, presentation and wine) made the occasion very memorable, so much so that if I were in Sydney again and wanted to impress - this is where Id come.

Welcome to La Renaissance! We are one of Sydney's oldest family-owned French patisseries, and the first in the Southern Hemisphere to be awarded the prestigious Relais Desserts status with our head chef and co-owner Jean Michel Raynaud. Each morning we serving fresh buttery pastries, hot coffee & tea, juice, savouries and cakes every day. A great place to recharge and relax if you're new to Sydney and exploring Circular Quay and The Rocks, or a favourite for locals. Our best-selling items include almond croissants and the Monet, a white chocolate mousse cake with lychee jelly, raspberries and coconut base. Cult favourite, the ham and cheese croissant, sells out daily as well, with a shredded ham & cheese bechamel inside and on top of the croissant. Baked until crisp but still a little soft inside... we say yes please!
Walking back to our hotel after our ferry from Manly docked at Circular Quay, we diverted off George Street, and walked up Argyle. So glad we did, as in our exploration of the Rocks had shown, there is always another surprise....this time one of the best bun shops in the world. Having chosen our sweet and savoury snacks we sat in the shade of the rear garden, enjoying our snacks, and flat white coffee and tea served in a strainer. Lush!

Always reliable, friendly and tasty food. They seem to always have people there for birthdays, which cater for both the younger and older generations.
Best picks for me would be be lamb pancakes, San Choy Bow, Shan tung chicken and of course their special fried rice. Great menu, plenty of variety.

The line stretches out of the door, comprising almost exclusively of native Japanese diners. It's a great sign. Inside meagre, simple surroundings give way to steaming, flavourful bowls of pork and chicken broths, replete with soft-boiled eggs, pork leg, shrimp and golden, slurp-able noodles. Steamed pork buns and punchy kimchi seals the meal.
It's a great little place and thankfully appreciated for delivering splendidly on its raison d'etre.

None of the hype of restaurants in the nearby restaurant precinct but a better quality and more enjoyable. Only a small and intimate restaurant but friendly and professional service with wonderful quality produce and perfect cooking. Rarely eat spatchcock but the stuffed spatchcock with risotto and mushroom is heavenly, Pasta like you wouldn't find in Leichhardt.

We visited during a weekday for lunch & were shocked that the price for the all-you-can-eat BBQ had increased to approx. $60 per person! My friends visited previously and it was only $35 per person including drinks. Who can afford $60 for lunch?
We walked out in disgust! Noticed that this place was empty - probably as a result of their new pricing regime!
