Fresh fish and Mediterranean vegetables. Great place to eat. Efficient service, plenty of room, highly recommended.

We had an excellent dinner at Cunda Giritli restaurant; with a nice environment and definitely top-quality mezes for a reasonable price. I strongly advise you to taste the "sicak ot" (hot verdure with some yoghurt and tomato sauce), the "beğendili ahtapot" (octopus on a bed of eggplant), the "kabak çiçeği dolması" (stuffed squash blossoms), which are all the region specials. don't forget to drink some raki as well :) We did not eat fish as the mezes were enough.

I would have imagined to be a bit stunned specifically after Reading the other reviews and the ranking on TA but my experience has been slightly different. It may be that the Ramadan holidays resulted in some lack of service, average quality food, etc., but it was absolutely no excuse when asked simply if they could bring tea at the end of the dinner that they would state they don't have any - really? The bill paid definitely does not reflect the experience - I probably wouldn't give them a second chance when visiting Cunda again.

Since freshness of seafood and fish is extremely important, it is equally essential to frequent seafood restaurants which have a regular client base, as well as which are frequented (and recommended) by locals. I would therefore suggest everyone to take a short walk along Cunda seaside and observe which restaurants (most of which are located next to each other) are popular with locals and tourists.
In my humble opinion, two fish & seafood restaurants, namely Cunda Deniz and Bay Nihat, meet these important criteria in Cunda. Both restaurants serve more or less the same selection of fish, seafood and meze (appetisers) selection. Cunda Deniz Restaurant, as compared to Bay Nihat, is about 15-20 percent cheaper. On the other hand, you will probably find that Bay Nihat's appetisers are tastier.

I strongly recommend that restaurant to food lovers.Everything we tried ( meze assortiment, home made pasta, fish and desserts)was fresh, local and delicous. kids had pasta with tomato sauce although that was not in the menu, for a decent price(my daughter eats pasta with no sauce and and most of the time we pay the full price of a sophisticated pasta plate as they do not have child friendly food.)I particularly recommend the lemon lavander cheese cake.. a must to eat.
I also adored the decoration:so simple but elegant

Ayvalık is famous for its toast. Aşkın is a really small toast shop in the center. The "orjinal Ayvalık tostu" with goat (tulum) cheese is out of this world. Combined with Ayran it is the best you can get

Service was attentive, the food delicious and the ambiance warm and comfortable. By moving one road away from the hustle and bustle of the seaside restaurants, we were able to enjoy a more low-key meal of high standards. Though not on the menu, I recommend the crispy shrimp - individual shrimp wrapped in light pastry. For our main course, we had the spaghetti bolognese, a pizza with toppings of choice and the moules marinieres (mussels in red wine sauce); each was done perfectly. The mussels could have been plumper, but the sauce and the garlic bread more than made up for their leanness. I believe a different season may provide juicier mussels.
For dessert we had the tiramisu, ample in portion and served in a mug. As well the apple pie was full of appley goodness and the crust was surprisingly delicate given its thickness.
I heartily recommend the restaurant especially if you are not on Cunda just for the fish. The ambiance was family and cozy and diverse all at once. Loved it.
