Champy's tries to give you the feel of the old Mississippi Delta juke joints, while providing the freshest ingredients for all of our scratch-made dishes. All of our chicken is FRESH, never frozen, and is cooked to order! Our catfish is USDA farm-raised right here in the South. All of our sides are made from scratch daily. This may take a little longer, but it's worth the wait! Sit back, relax, and enjoy!
Food is good but don't try and work with owner on planning a surprise birthday party !! Very disappointed and won't be back !!!Apologies for your disappointment. We do our best to accommodate all of our guests. If this was a request, and we failed to respond, please let us know. Thank you for taking the time to review.

We went to this restaurant for lunch at the recommendation of an employee in one of the visitor centers in town and we are so, so glad that we did.
I had the special of the day which was a boneless fried chicken breast with several sides and it was excellent!
My husband had the chicken salad which is the specialty of the restaurant and he said that it was the best chicken salad that he had ever had. (I took a taste and absolutely agree with him.).
Our server was excellent--friendly, talkative, but superbly efficient.
A gentleman named Johnny came out from the kitchen when things had slowed down a bit and talked with patrons about the area and the local music scene.
What a special lunch--I would go out of my way to return here for a meal!

My family went for a birthday dinner, and the food was divine! For appetizers we had the pork skins, which are unlike any you've ever experienced, and the black eyed pea fritters with delicious sauces. I had the seared chicken plate, and almost slurped the veggies and sauce right off my plate. My husband had the steak frites with chimichuri. I will say that he is from Miami and said it was the best chimichuri sauce he's ever had. The kids devoured their fresh cheeseburgers and fries with homemade ketchup. The cocktails are imaginative and wonderful, and the service was excellent. Overall a fabulous meal!!

Health Asian Cuisine
I've heard rave reviews about Ichiban so my family decided to try it out for my birthday. My husband and I shared two Philadelphia Rolls. They tasted okay-very similar to grocery store sushi. The sushi is no where near as good as I Love Sushi's in Madison. I also had the egg drop soup. It was average, as well. Service was subpar. We weren't impressed. Thus, we won't be back anytime soon.

This restaurant is always crowded. Probably due to low prices. We had grilled cheese but it was small and rather soggy. Needed another slice of cheese and better bread. The ice cream is just $1.20 for a scoop. I’d probably stick to the ice cream only next time. Hectic service. Darling decor — you’ll think it is 1950!

If you are looking for the best shrimp and grits in the area you will find them here! Delicious. My husband also loves the filet. And when you are finished with dinner you can enjoy one of their delicious desserts Just the best.

The service was friendly, the atmosphere was just as expected and the food was flavorful! For a meat and 3 veggies it was around $7 and for a 4 veggie plate was around $6. I had the Fried chicken with mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and white beans

Our large group was seated in a private dining room, in a very comfortable long table, yet with plenty of elbow room. The three wait staff were very professaional and competent, and even managed separate checks quite well. Everyone enjoyed their food. In my case, my streak was delicious, preparred just as I asked. And I asked for crispy, dark french fries, and they came just that way!! Delicious.

Had high expectations for this restaurant based on TripAdvisor reviews. I've never been disappointed before with a TripAdvisor choice. Highlights of the visit included the service, the salad bar, dessert and the atmosphere. The low-lights were the steaks. A restaurant with steakhouse in their name should have quality steaks and know how to cook them.
This is a casual place. It has a roadhouse type feel with lots of wood and old porcelain signs scattered around the place. Our waitress was a sweetheart who was friendly and knew the menu making great dessert recommendations. Prices on the menu are very reasonable.Beer and wine only, no liquor.
We opted for the salad bar, an extra four bucks to the meal. Thoroughly enjoyed it as there were lots of options to custom create a salad. If you like iceberg lettuce, you'll be very happy with the salad. If you like other types of greens you'll be disappointed because iceberg is all that is available.
When the entrees came, that's when things went south. My wife ordered her filet rare to medium. It was well done. Not a hint of pink anywhere. It was also the thinnest filet I've ever seen. It looked more like a hamburger patty. It took a while to get a replacement because someone forgot to put the order in. The good news the replacement was cooked properly and tasted good. Her loaded baked potato was great.
I ordered a Delmonico. Mine was cooked fine, though the onion rings were overcooked, too crunchy on the outside and dry on the inside. I was expecting thick cut onion rings and these were no different than what you get at a fast food burger place. It's rare for me not to finish onion rings. The Texas toast they serve with the steaks was just a piece of toasted bread. I didn't see any butter or anything on it. I didn't even touch it. I don't know maybe some people love it, but in my opinion they should just leave it off the menu.
Ending on a positive note the two desserts we ordered were outstanding! Our waitress recommended the peanut butter pie and the key lime pie and neither disappointed. They were delicious!
In summary, it pains me to write a negative review. Because there many positive aspects of our visit, we will try this restaurant again, we'll try something else on the menu and stay away from steak.

When we first were driving through town looking for a place to stay and where to have dinner we noticed this place looked busy . We thought it was probably a place where the locals go , so we stopped in . It was excellent ! The order taker was so nice and patient . We had had a long day on the road and our brains were getting a bit foggy by this time. He answered all of our questions and made a few suggestions to help us decide what would interest us.
The tater skins were excellent and almost two weeks later I am craving them still. We were all extremely satisfied with our meals. We were all comfortably stuffed as we walked out . The Mandarin Salad was a hit . Every ingredient tasted fresh . BBQ'd pulled pork sandwich was terrific . Fries were good and oh... those tater skins .
The place was clean even though it had been busy when we first drove by . The employee we talked to was wonderful and added to the enjoyment of the dinner.
