We’d heard a lot about Eschalot but never dined here before so thought we’d try it.
Saturday night - and gave the degustation menu with matching wines a try.
EVERY course was just brilliant. Not pretentious but just great inventive courses with quality produce.
I don’t think we could even pick a favourite because hey were all good - the goat’s cheese soufflé was brilliant, as was the quail breast and the barramundi. The beef tenderloin was cooked really well and the dessert was absolutely lovely.
Service was attentive without being intrusive. We honestly can’t fault the experience - best in the southern highlands by a mile.

In Katers you can expect to see the very best of amazing local Artisan produce, cooked with respect, using techniques old and new, dishes that showcase elegance and sophistication, refinement and true flavours of our region. We have the largest kitchen garden in the region growing our own garden vegetables, herbs and edible flowers onsite, truly giving you a taste of the freshest local produce direct from the source. Open from 6pm daily, we recommend booking ahead to avoid disappointment.
The meal was expensive for what it was - chicken; the bread was thinly sliced a bread roll should have been better, wait staff good, wine list good.

This is a busy restaurant, all tables taken late (8.30pm) on Friday night so take-away it was. Two menus offered, one begin labelled authentic Chinese. Quick service, 4 choices with rice, Chicken with vegetables, Chicken with ginger and shallot, Dry chilli prawns and Garlic prawns. We chose from the authentic Chinese menu and whilst nice, it was very much lacking in flavour almost to the point of bland. Dry Chilli prawns in particular very non-chilli like, and disappointing. The other three dishes could have been mixed together as they all tasted the same, same!!
However, very efficient and friendly service.

Paid a visit once again after a lengthy absence.Settled for the garlic butter prawns thanks to previous review.Generous serve & totally up to expectations.Garlic bread for mop up, again very tasty.Prices quite reasonable with an extensive range of dishes.Bar & bistro staff pleasant & accommodating.Ambience in bistro is most appealing.Club has been refurbished in recent times with a modern flair. All aspects of this establishment are well worthy of continued visitation.Full marks!

Chicken Schnitzel Roll was very fresh, nice crunch roll. Potato scallops very good. Mayo needs improvement, very tangy. Drinks overpriced. Premises was clean, staff friendly. I found various signage around the shop quite strange... One to put your rubbish in the bins outside, another sign that the octopus salad incurs $1 fee to be heated up. The one that got me was the $13.50 price of BBQ chickens doesn't include the chook being cut into 1/4 or 1/8!! Absorb these excess "fees" into the prices so as to not come off so tight!!

Sattahip. I have been to the Sattahip Thai restaurant on several occasions and have enjoyed the yummy food. On saturday night we both thought that the main courses were not hot enough, temperature hot. When ch was abit disappointing.

There are very few restaurants that offer good seafood in the Southern Highlands. However, the long established and family owned Seafood Affair solves this problem by offering great seafood at reasonable prices. The dishes we selected had generous portion sizes and tasted as fresh and delightful as seafood available in many Sydney seafood restaurants. Seafood Affair's staff are attentive and friendly . We left the restaurant knowing we had enjoyed great food, had been well looked after and received value for money. We have put Seafood Affair on our list of the best five restaurants in the Southern Highlands.

Just like any other pub, in any other country town, this place serves VERY basic food, albeit it serves it pretty well.... Hamburgers, nachos, basic steaks, chicken parmigiana, chicken schnitzel... you know the drill... But the place redeems itself with a good vibe, it's very clean, well maintained. Service is pretty quick, drinks (from the bar) are reasonable, it's all over within 90mins (including dessert, again of the usual cheesecake, waffles et al).
Not critical, but not effusive. This is 2 x straight lines - you'd swear you were middle of the road.

Fully Licenced Thursday BYO wine only BOOKINGS ESSENTIAL
What we thought would be a GoogleMaps find for quick snack on a detour around a long delay on the Hume Highway, became a most pleasant surprise. Delicious food, served quickly, in a very popular friendly little restaurant on this rainy Sunday afternoon. We ordered three vegetarian items and they were the best vego plates we’ve had in years. Plenty of parking roadside too. Worth the detour!

You might think visiting one winery will likely be the same as the next; not so. Pick wisely, and you might find an experience a little more unique than the usual. Mount Ashby Estate is one such charming find. Nestled into the north face of the mountain, it is the perfect setting to enjoy the fine wines and French-inspired modern Australian cuisine on offer at the cellar door and Café ‘La Palette’. You will delight in the rustic ambience of what was, originally, a dairy; the surrounding fields still graze Holsteins. Your red or white, or culinary, delights arrive at grand tables, locally handcrafted from imported French timbers, and available custom made. Step across from the cellar door to the historic Produce Store, and you’ll find displayed more remarkable French Farmhouse tables, and the wonderful Sally Beresford collection of antiques and objet d’art.
Sometimes it’s best to keep things simple.
Came here completely unknown on a recommendation and couldn’t be more impressed!!
The Souflee is completely stunning and so is their Alsace inspired Pinot Gris. Service is prompt and bubbly and the atmosphere super.
Just go, you won’t go wrong.
