Central, located at 129 Coosa Street in the heart of Montgomery's Downtown entertainment district, offers a multicultural twist on southern classics highlighting local and seasonal ingredients under the direction of Executive Chef Leonardo Maurelli, III. This locally owned gem serves wood-fired dishes in an 1890's warehouse space boasting exposed brick, flickering gas lanterns and a bustling open kitchen. Central also has three private event spaces ranging accommodating 10 - 200 people. Central serves lunch 5 days a week and dinner 6 nights a week.
Portions are small and sides are separate so food is expensive. Quality of food is high. We liked the food. Uses local (?), seasonal ingredients. Decor is sophisticated. No tablecloths was surprising for price point. Napkins were like used dish towels. Suggested tips by restaurant are 20%,22%,24% based on total bill including taxes. I thought this a bit high. Fish was over cooked as is common here and seems to be local taste. Offers valet parking but on street parking available within a block and free after 6pm.

The best thing about this restaurant was the fact that it was close to our hotel. Husband got BBQ sandwich and fries, I got Cuban sandwich and potato salad. His BBQ was served with pickles (really?? On a bbq??) and sauce. Meat didn't have much smoked flavor. The fries were good - hot and crispy. He asked for a little slaw to put on his sandwich. Waitress brought him some in a little styrofoam cup...and charged him 35 cents for it!! My Cuban sandwich was pretty good, as was the potato salad. Service was not the greatest. We won't be going back.

I can honestly say that the Sushi Cafe is an excellent sushi joint. The Texas Roll is the best specialty roll I've ever had. I've ate sushi in Japan, South Korea, Guam, and Thailand. The Texas Roll takes the trophy. I also had the Zelda roll, which was really good. The wait staff was very friendly and it didn't take long for our 20 sushi rolls to show up. I highly recommend this place! The Texas Roll will change your sushi going life!

India Palace is back in Montgomery, at a new location. Same food, same people, better ambience.
I had a very nice lunch here, the buffet had quality authentic Indian food. This isn't an upscale place but very good and a really good value. It is probably more upscale for dinner. I am of Indian descent and therefore often a harsh critic of Indian restaurants, but I would definitely come back here when in town!

Lots of menu items; many hearty sandwiches, salads, soups, etc. Enjoyed the quarter ham and salami muffelletta- filled with olive salad and great Italian bread; much better than most fast food restaurants; quality products

This BBQ establishment has been expanding over the years, but has managed to maintain a consistent level of quality at the same time. The story of the original founder is a great read, but the ribs and BBQ sauce he prepared them in is what really counts. They prepare some of the best tasting pork ribs I've had in years. The BBQ has just enough bite to tantalize your taste buds, but not to overpower the smokey flavor of the meat, nor the meat itself.
There are other options of course, as this is a true BBQ joint, but if you are new to this establishment, you must absolutely try the ribs. Half-rack is fairly filling, but a full rack will certainly do the trick. Some sweat white bread to dip in the BBQ sauce or soak up the grease from fingers comes on the side. The actual sides that are offered here are tasty, but IMHO, a distraction from the main attraction - the BBQ meat.
Overall, they have some great bear of tap and brew their own, which is worth sampling. The prices are reasonable, considering how much you get to eat. Place is fairly large, so you can host a small group or a large party - whichever meets your needs. Servers are fast and efficient and if you leave here hungry, it's your own fault. Don't wear your best outfit, as you will get your hands dirty and in the heat of the moment, may forget as you rub your belly in recognition of the pure enjoyment of what you've just consumed. Good old fashioned BBQ.

My wife and I visited as a treat last month. She had grilled Salmon and I had a Ribeye. Everything was cooked correctly and served nicely. The presentation was not special, but well done. No wait for a table even though they were busy on a Tuesday night.

Cashew chicken masaman curry was the bomb! My husband had red curry w/ chicken and dancing eel sushi. Everything was so good and portions were just right. Slightly pricey. Nice atmosphere. They serve soup and an egg roll as appetizers before entrees are served. Nice servers. Would recommend this place. Fun to explore union station after too.

Sa-Za's was a really nice surprise! The menu is much different from our local Italian restaurants here in Arkansas so wasn't sure what to expect. I had a penne pasta with a vodka something sauce and it was yummy. Grown kids ordered a pizza and declared it to be the best they have ever eaten. Can't remember what my husband had - it had seafood, maybe angel hair size pasta and a light sauce. It was delicious! I know because I made him share! Sa-Za'a is in a downtown area called The Alley. Walkable from several area hotels (We stayed at Embassy Suites). Iris was our waitress and did a great job of taking care of us. Go enjoy!
