This place is one of the most famous cake shops in Tokyo. They have many French cakes and a few breads. It takes 25 minutes from Kichijoji station. We can't eat here and only “to go”.
The most popular cake is Mont blanc (chestnut cake). It has rich chestnuts taste. My favorite kind of cake is chocolate mousse cake. The cake tastes not only creamy but also rich and a little bitter.

We have been here a number of times when we visit family in Kichijoji and we keep on returning. It is a little hard to find being on the 4th. floor in a building between two alleys off Sun Road to the left but it is definitely worth finding.
It is a Korean style yakiniku barbecue restaurant with central charcoal cooking at the table. We usually order a few different types of meat and vegetables to grill and my favorite, bebimbap, which is rice with meat, vegetables and an egg cracked in at the end, cooked in a stone bowl which is so hot the rice goes crispy where it is in contact with the bowl. Mix in the Korean chilli paste and away you go! Beer is the best accompaniment.
The staff are always very attentive checking out the state of the charcoal fire and replacing the wire griddle at times when it gets some burnt bits stuck to it. There is an older guy on the staff who always makes a fuss over my grandson and has been known to give him presents to play with.
It must be popular with the locals because it is always crowded.

because it is just okay, three stars rather than four - as has been said, Indochinese crossover seen through Japanese eyes, served on aluminum trays, very garden-canteen like. I had the set lunch (the first of 4 alternatives) with iced Oolong, minced chicken with rice and fried egg Thai style (needed additional seasoning!), clear turnip soup, and an unfortunately really chewy Vietnamese spring roll. But it's a cool place, crowded, with modern music, beautifully situated in one of my favorite Tokyo parks, and the service is friendly. Prices are maybe a bit too high for the food (my set lunch was $12) but otherwise adequate, and it is a great alternative for visitors of the Ghibli Museum - it is on the way back if one cuts through Inokashira Park (which one should) to catch the Chuo Line from Kichijoji rather than Mitaka.

The Straw Hat had absolutely delicious food with the magic of Studio Ghibli!
The only downside was the wait to get in, which you queued outside for awhile. Once inside though you were greeted by friendly staff & your food came quickly. A restaurant not completely themed by Ghibli characters but has the same charm. If you have the time, then visit here! Food was quality, delicious & large proportioned. Atmosphere was warm, clean and filled with little bits of Ghibli magic throughout.

Usually I visit on weekdays. I saw a lots of ladies and kids. I love green curry! Coconut ice cream will be the recommended for dessert. Next time I want to taste tom yam ramen.

10 mins walk from Ghibli museum along Inokashira park to Kichijoji station locates this beautiful Yakitori restaurant with spirited way atmosphere .
Always packed and cramped , no space between next table , smoky like hell and noisier than outside would be a compliment for this restaurant .
For those coming to this place searching for a real classic local restaurant but not tourist-oriented one I would recommend to have a try of some Shumai(pork dim sum ) and Moriawase ( random selection of Yakitori ) here , and some beer maybe . It will be an easy and excellent experience .

I patiently queued for a table and was led to the second floor of the restaurant. You have to take off your shoes before you go up the staircase. While waiting my order, I was served a refreshing green tea. The waiters are fast and efficient and can understand English so they can give you suggestions on what soba to order. I had the Soba noodles topped with with shrimp tempura. The price was quite expensive but okay for a first timer like me. You will also get to squat on the floor while eating. Truly a traditional Japanese dining experience.
