El Quetzal is one of the premier restaurants in Mindo, Ecuador. Located only a few blocks from the Parque Central de Mindo, yet located in a quiet area with a river view where you can see hummingbirds, toucans, parrots and quetzals. We serve fresh foods harvested from our own organic Gardens. Our menu selection includes authentic Ecuadorian dishes and typical American food options. Freshly made vegetarian options are available daily. Special dishes with chocolate and coffee. Our world-famous brownie. Freshly roasted coffee on site and we make award winning chocolate in all forms and artisan beer. Chocolate making tours daily. 1.5 hours from Quito
We ordered food here, but really could not eat it, it did not look appetizing or edible. I guess the chocolate would have been OK to eat, but I was so disappointed, I was not spending any more money here

We just went in for a coffee a couple of times. Nice place, friendly staff and apparently they have live music some evenings. Pretty good coffee and better than usual selection of teas, plus very very tasty chocolate brownie! The only proper food they have is chilli, which from other reviews might not be worth bothering with....
It's right opposite where the buses leave from so a good place to wait if you're early.

Our spacious and bright restaurant is divided in two parts. The front is overlooking the main street of Mindo, and the back is located on a covered Terrace right next to the flowing river. A la carte is offered 7 days a week, with a wide variety of national and international dishes. We also serve a typical "Almuerzo" daily, which is a set 3 course lunch made to the Ecuadorian taste. We are trying our best to be as organic as possible, and to keep the impact of our kitchen on nature as low as possible. You will not find straws, to go containers or disposable bottles. Our commitment is to leave this world a bit cleaner every day. Also in our front restaurant area, you can find fine chocolates, coffee and other crafts to take home as presents or for your sweet treat sitting on the balcony. Reservations for groups are welcome, we can serve a la carte or make a special set lunch/dinner tailored to your needs. We accept MasterCard and Visa for your restaurant bill or gift shopping
Six of us gathered for dinner here last night. Everybody was happy with their meal, though none stood out as fantastic. One of the better meals in Mindo though (a town not known for great food unless you are vegan...)

You will be greeted with a smile and indulged with typically 6-8 daily specials that may include many different cultures. Tim, an American chef, loves to prepare his specialty german bread, juices, ice creams, granolas, and sauces daily. Ingredients are sourced locally and daily.
This is a unique and relaxing little restaurant, a Mindo gem, owned by a well-traveled, passionate chef from the U.S. Relax in the Seating outside and enjoy watching Mindoans go about their daily activities. The service is friendly, efficient, and you will enjoy meeting Tim...MoreThank You. We are always working toward making our Cafe friendly and unique. Thanks so much, Timothy / Chef / Owner.

You will find a little but cozy cafe with a corner for fine crafts and arts from Ecuador. The coffee is prepared with a Gaggia Nera, and the fine foods by the owners.
OMG! The humus bagel was devine! Also came w fries, and a nice spicy aji. The decor is so warm and inviting and you can watch for hummingbirds right from three restaurants outside patio.

This little restaurant offers delicious breakfasts with home-made German bread. For lunch the German owner prepares a tasty soup of the day, plates with German sausages and a variety of vegetarian dishes. Don't miss the yummy sandwiches. If you would like to take a loaf of bread you better order it in advance to make sure you get one!
Really nice and relaxed place to hangout. You can try their delicious German specials or some great vegetarian specials. I tried the salty cheese pancakes with cheese and homemade chutney and a side salad.

Ok, we admit that we do not have the nicest place. All in all we are a bakery. But we keep it clean and cozy. Also it is always warm due to the bread oven. But what we do have to say: Best Pizza around!!! Check us out!
Excellent pizza at Padrinos! Excellent thin and crispy crust and the proprieter gladly made a half veggie/half meat pizza for my daughter and me. Best pizza I've ever had in lots of travels in Latin America (though admittedly I seldom order pizza there). Not super cheap by Ecuadorian standards but reasonable and the taste more than made up for the cost.

Our main produce is quinoa pudding - served with hand made ice cream and fruits. We also make the best quinoa burgers in town as well as chop suey and other dishes - all quinoa based.
Stopped in a couple of times recently while visiting Mindo. The quinoa soup, a large portion, was excellent and very filling. Nevertheless, I still had room for some of the fine sorbet. The owner was quite friendly, and offered-up several samples, and took the time to chat about recipes. He gave me a sample of the in-house chicha and had me sample each of the sorbets before I settle on a combination. I returned the following day to try the Colada Morada - very good. The upstairs balcony is great spot to have a Pilsner and what what is going on. Good food and friendly owners!

Nice and confortable restaurant surrounded with nature, visit us and enjoy a delicious meals, we also offer you wood oven pizza with thin crust
we did note stay here, but only visited for the hike down to the river and falls and the hundreds of hummingbirds that live around the main lodge. $5.00 gives you the run of the grounds. Down the waterfall trail, there is a high viewing structure, that puts you in the canopy. Great spot to see other birds and possibly sloths.
