We enjoyed a savory breakfast while staying in Lake Oswego for a family reunion. The food was very good, the aroma of fresh bread enticing, and the coffee fantastic. We enjoyed watching the kids play on the plaza outside, and watching the ducks land on the lake next door. I would want to try their lunch menu next time!

After we were unsuccessful in getting into another Milwaukie restaurant for dinner without reservations on Thursday evening, we decided to give Hale's a try. We knew the reviews were good for breakfast, but had no idea what to expect for an evening meal.
First of all, the service was excellent. We were seated and offered beverages immediately and no fewer than three servers stopped to refill my husband's coffee during our stay. Everyone we met was pleasant and helpful.
I ordered the meat loaf special. I was given a choice between brown and ham gravy, which I thought was sort of strange, but I chose the brown gravy. It was very thick and did not look appetizing, but it was delicious. My arteries may have clogged up completely, but I would definitely order it again. The meat loaf was acceptable and the mashed potatoes were good. I opted for a salad to start and was pleasantly surprised. It had beets, large slices of cucumber, and very good croutons, much better than the iceberg lettuce and shaved carrots usually served in this type of restaurant. My husband enjoyed a reuben sandwich and onion rings. The bill for the two of us was only $17.
We will definitely go back to Hale's, especially for breakfast. The pancake menu looks fabulous.

Since I live about 2 miles away, I hit Roake's all the time for either lunch or dinner. I typically go for the chili burger...a good sized patty with that grilled burger taste, and chili that I easily finish. Or..the long sausage or long regular dog. A foot long that has that "snap". For a dog/burger place that looks old on the outside, is a great experience.
Kids like the idea of ordering food, and the window girl gives you a playing card. When you hear your card on the speaker, it is chow time!!

Small-batch, chef-driven ice cream made by hand with local ingredients since 2011. We hope you love it!
After dinner we saw the line outside of the store, and down the sidewalk. My husband peered in and said it wraps around two times once you are inside the store. But the line moves fast. The ice cream was to die for. We came back the next day for another scoop, and there was no line! This is not to be missed in Portland! My husband was glad that I said let's stay in line!

We stopped here on the way back into Portland one of our days in the state. We didn't realize that it had lunch options! I thought it was just dessert. We had a couple sandwiches, the mac and cheese and of course a number of treats. It was all delicious! The space is very cute, as well.

We visited for the first time on a busy Sunday morning. Took a little while to get a table, but understandable given Mother's Day. Decor looks a lot like what you would expect if your older grandmother had a restaurant at her place. Somewhat dated, but cozy. Food was good, although the strawberries were a little tart. Portion size was good and friendly service. Always seems to draw a crowd. Parking is pretty good, but can get a little tighter on Sundays in the summer due to the farmers market close by.

The kalua pork was too salty for me, but I would order the Hawaiian BBQ chicken again. The macaroni salad and white rice complement the meat and sauces very well. Great servers, short wait time.

This was walking distance from my motel and was outstanding. I recall the food was delivered fast and it was hot. The quality of the food did not belie the humble aesthetics. I would go there again and try something different because what I ate the first time was excellent.

Nicoletta's Table is inspired by the Torriti family of Cortona Italy. Giuseppe and Nicoletta Torriti’s love of quality food, gathering around a table to fully experience a meal, and their dear friendship drew Nicoletta’s Table owners, Al and Shari Newman, to create this space. Their mission is to provide the freshest ingredients the Pacific Northwest has to offer in their delicious homemade pizzas, pastas and breads. They also provide imported salumi, cheeses and olive oils that you would find in an Italian trattoria or Nicoletta's home. Nicoletta’s Table creates a casual, yet elegant dining experience where around our table we become family, friends, and community.
I can't imagine why I didn't review this when we were in Cooperstown in July, because we had two dinners her and are inclined to think it is the best restaurant in Cooperstown. Certainly it's the best of the ones we've been too. Its Italian fare is some of the best we've had anywhere outside Italy, and its prices are reasonable. Definitely recommended!

It’s unfortunate that the soup is not a regular menu item. The flavours in the curry cauliflower and apple soup were amazing, a smooth consistency. Equally enjoyed were our other shared crispy coconut shrimp and spring rolls.
