I am a 71 year old American traveling to Florida with his wife. This is a nice local place with good food at good prices. The ambiance is comfortable with a local feel. We sat a booth across from the bar. I ordered the catfish platter, a cup of chili, and onion rings. My wife had the 1/2 pound burger. All excellent. The burger was freshly cooked with high quality hamburger meat and tasted very good. The menu says the catfish is 'battered' but it is breaded which I MUCH prefer to batter. Tasted very good and utterly fresh. The rings were also breaded and not battered and were just great. When bite one you bite right through and you don't drag the rest of the onion from the part you are holding in your hand. The chili was OK but not the best I've ever had. Service as good and price (with a diet coke) was $16 with tax tip and all.

A very cute and comfortable location. The service was very friendly. And fast. And of course the ice cream is just yummy Dairy Queen. Seating inside and also outside too. Plenty of parking

Open 7 days a week. Batch Beer Brewery, serving pizza, sandwiches, salads, espresso and hand dipped ice cream. Great selection of craft beer and local wines. Casual family friendly atmosphere in country steampunk chic. Covered and fenced outdoor patio. Walking distance to Superman and Lois Lane statues and the Superman Museum. Fresh tasty made to order while you wait or call ahead. We also host great painting parties monthly and have live music on Fridays evenings. We can help with your party or meeting up to 50 people indoors and more with the patio.
I've eaten here several times. The sandwiches and salads are top notch. I enjoy the pizza and craft beer the most. Great little spot on the bar to play checkers with my neice too. The owner is super nice and instantly befriends you. We've had...MoreThank you for the great review!

The Bridges Dining Company was a pleasant surprise. We had a very good meal consisting of a filet and park loin. They were cooked to our satisfaction and very tasty. We got the lettuce wedge instead of a salad and it was almost to much to have before the meal. I would recommend thid resturant.

My wife and I tried El Tequila tonight at the recommendation of the clerk at our hotel. What a find! If you happen to be in Metropolis do find the time to visit this wonderful restaurant. The food was tasty, the service was friendly, and the portions very ample - all for a very reasonable cost. If you're looking for authentic Mexican fare, this is the place.
Staff was warm and friendly from the timewe walked in the door until the time we walked out of the door after dinner. Food was wonderful. My husband had the burrito supremo and I had the chicken enchilada suizo.....best ever! Both were very meaty and served quickly and hot! Prices were very reasonable and we will definitely stop there next time we go through Metropolis!

We were told by the folks at the truck stop next door that this place was open 24hrs but that was bad information. Unfortunately, we showed up just before closing and the staff was not happy about still being open. They all made comments to each other in front of us customers about how they wish that they'd closed hours ago or before the last customers had walked in etc... I'd be willing to bet that this attitude severely affected the quality and possibly quantity of our meal and service.
Our waitress was nice but it seemed to us like she was very new at the job. She was complaining to her coworker about another coworker who had made some remarks to her about her work performance and said something to the effect that the challenge would make her a better server. It sounded to me like the absent co-worker was just a jerk who didn't want to help or be bothered.
When we walked in, the whole place was dirty minus one table. I don't know if you're supposed to seat yourself but we just sort of did. We found the last clean table in the restaurant and had a seat. Our waitress came to take our drink order but informed us first that quote, "we have no deep fryer" so anything on the menu that needed to be deep fried was not available ie, fries, onion rings, chicken fried steak etc... We would have preferred her to say that they deep fryer was down or broken. We know it's semantics but it would have made a big difference. After confirming with us that we still planned on eating here, she took our drink orders and we studied the menus.
We found out while we were there that they had also run out of a handful of other items and we started to become grateful that we arrived so late. At least they had a good reason to be out of things. My wife likes her bacon ultra crispy and she knows before we ever set foot in a place that she is going to have to explain that to whoever takes our order and nine times out of ten, she ends up sending her bacon back to be cooked more. This was no exception but it didn't even seem like the cook tried to get the bacon crispy at all. Even when it came back, it wasn't to her liking. My meal was terrible. The presentation looked like the cook just threw my food on my plate in a pile. My over medium eggs were under cooked and had runny clear whites. My sausage patties were completely raw in the middle and my serving of hash browns could fit in the palm of my hand. The gravy on my biscuits was runnier than most soups and everything was just so/so.
Since this was the only establishment open for food and we had been traveling all day, we just ate and got ready to leave however while my wife cleaned up in the washroom, I went to pay and that's when I was told that they computer system was down too. They were unable to take my debit card payment. I had to walk back over to the truck stop and take cash out of the ATM including paying a $3.00 fee just so I could go back and pay for our meal tip included.
Maybe a different time or a different day and this cramped little diner might have impressed us but this was not the night. I feel like they were actually trying but that either they were just too tired and anxious to close or they just didn't have the skills necessary to run the restaurant well.
Whatever the case, I wouldn't recommend the Huddle House unless you have no place else to go or you have cash and need food at a super low price.
Thanks for reading.

The class of '67 has its reunion this September and I plan to have lunch at Bill's before our evening dinner.
In a renovated KFC, across from Ft Massac state park, Bill's serves biscuits and gravy for breakfast and throughout the day BBQ pork sandwiches, burgers with BBQ, topped with an egg and bacon, chopped ham and fried Bologna, baked beans, chips and Coca-Cola products.
Look for BBQ chicken and Ribs - the schedule is on the door.
BBQ til Eat in, carry out, call ahead a day or two if you want your Q frozen for travel.
Wheelchair accessible. at 4 pm Tuesday through Friday; 2 pm on Saturday. Closed Sunday and Monday.

Wheelchair accessible.
Going into town, it's one sandwich for lunch. Headed home, it's one at Bill's and a second for 60 miles up the road.
I pull over; I can't stand being distracted while eating one of those BBQ sandwiches.

Close to the motel I was staying at and the only hope for a vegetarian to find a meal, and I was not disappointed. The sandwich was fresh and delicious, and so large I saved it for the next days lunch.

Fried chicken and southern cooking at its best. If you go away hungry it is your own fault. You can find them on 10th Street headed to the Superman Statue. You will feel right at home, sitting at Mama's table. Be sure to order a glass of sweet tea and sit a spell while you enjoy a great meal.

I had trouble finding the buffet but was worth the effort. It had a little of everything and I enjoyed the variety. The desserts are exceptionally good with 2 cobblers and apple dumplings along with cream pies and ice cream. It is only open Thurs thru Sun.
