Stopped here after hearing about them in Texas Monthly. We were not disappointed at all. Don't miss the braised cabbage. I was reluctant, but it is to die for. There's lots of bacon in it! The barbecue was good and plentiful. I told a family member about it and he remembered his dad picking up barbecue at Smoliks in Karnes City when he was a little boy in the 40's. I think it was probably the father or grandfather of the current Smolik's. The staff was friendly and the service was excellent.

One of the best Dairy Queens I've ever been to. Food is always fresh. My favorite is The Dude! The staff is friendly.

We have eaten at Adam's Rib in Lakeport, Texas numerous times, and they have never disappointed us. Yesterday, we made another return visit, but I made a new discovery at Adam's Ribs that I never realized: vegetable sides. We bought our usual beef brisket and chicken, but this time we loaded up on the veggies -- pinto beans, green beans, cole slaw and potato salad. I must say that as someone who is moving toward more vegetables and less meat for health reasons (trying to follow Thomas Jefferson's philosophy of making vegetables as the main focus and "treating meat as a condiment") . . . that Adam's Rib's vegetable sides were excellent! I especially liked their green beans that have a slightly hot flavor which I found usually good. Their cole slaw, potato salad and pinto beans were nicely seasoned such that any vegetarian would have appreciated the taste. Bravo to Adam's Ribs on your your vinegar-based barbeque sauce, meats and vegetables. Keep up the good work. It shows you care!

It's disappointing. Smolik's used to have a great BBQ market in Karnes City many years ago, with some of the best 'cue around.
This is a fixed up "touristy" place for people headed back and forth from San Antonio to the coast. It is NOT a real barbecue "market" in the real sense, and the food quality reflects it. We tried a sliced brisket sandwich among other meats....and I would rate them as sub-par. Also, it's annoying that -- unlike REAL barbecue joints -- you are not given your food when you order and pay. Instead, you have a number, and a "server" brings your food several minutes later, with a tip presumably expected. Maybe it's okay for families and non-Texans. But if you're used to barbecue in locales such as Luling, Lockhart and Taylor, well, this is not worth a stop.

We stopped here for lunch on the way to Corpus Christi coming from San Antonio and could not be any more pleased. A honky tonk joint with scads of charm, great service and great food make this a new fave. The parking lot had no less than 20 Ford F-150 pick ups in place so don't show up with a Chevy or anything foreign as clearly the clientele will take you out back to be " corrected" lol. The fried mushrooms were in my top 2 or 3 and the onion rings were the best.. ever. The burger was great and I should've opted for a single not the double meat but hey.. I didn't get this big for nothing .My partner had the steak sandwich which was awesome while my mother in law had the baked potato loaded up with chopped up hot dogs, chili , cheese and red onions. It was ridiculously good and enough to feed 2 people. Service was super attentive and friendly . The menu looked simple and there should be something for everyone! This place is highly recommended! Thanks for a great lunch!

I'm of Mexican descent so am always looking for authentic Mexican food when I travel. Taqueria Vallarta doesn't disappoint. I had their Gordita platter on one visit. The Carne Asada is perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked. Their limeade is freshly squeezed, just as they do in Mexico, and very refreshing. On another occasion I went through the drive-thru and ordered two tacos, again with Carne Asada. They don't skimp on the meat and the tortillas tasted freshly made. Very good place for a good, authentic Mexican meal that is easy on the wallet.

Stopped in to take a break on a long trip. This McDonalds seemed smaller than most, but it was clean and bright. I ordered a small meal and sat down from a pleasant person behind the counter. Clean restrooms. Quick access from the main road. A good, clean, safe stop.

Seems to draw families in the evening. Food is typical subway. Nothing special. Staff are appropriate no one sticks out as particularly wonderful. Good basic food to go
