Lovely restaurant, good service and super food. My husband enjoyed one of the best burgers he has ever had. Would have given five stars but..........the menu is limited (not that we would want it to be huge but a little more extensive would have been nice) and the fact that I chose to have a starter as my main meal (sometimes do that since portions in the States are often too large for me) which was the charcuterie platter - this was nice but I think there should have been more variety of charcuterie, eg some parma ham - all the meats were similar - and the cheese portion was tiny. So would not particularly recommend that. Prices are quite expensive.

My husband and I had dinner at Firenze Trattoria last evening after visiting the nearby Peabody Essex Museum. The intimate setting was lovely. The service outstanding. And the food was superb. We shared a crostini appetizer (with four delicious toppings), for entrees my husband had the whole-fish branzino and I had the sumptuous linguini with cod, and we shared a bread pudding dessert. If you love Italian food, don't miss eating at Firenze Trattoria in Salem. Also, a great value! Our bill was less than $100!

Cute and simple, the pastry's are delicious and the staff is super. If I lived local, this would be my choice for coffee runs or cafe lounging.

What a wonderful find! I had the hot artichoke flatbread, it comes with a small bag of chips and an excellent pickle. Daughter had a half and half, butternut squash soup and veggie sandwich. You can sample all the soups and they bakery case was to die for. They also have make your own salads and a deli case with different foods you can choose from. When you’re done, you can shop a quaint exotic grocery store. Very good food, made fresh in front of you. Totally worth it.

This is the best place for seafood on the North Shore of Boston. The menu is diverse, and the value is there. I have never had a bad meal. The halibut special today was delicious.

Located in the Old London Coffee House, which dates back to the 1700s, Red’s Sandwich Shop has been visited by many Celebrities, Congressman, Senators and even First Lady Barbara Bush. A relaxed, friendlly atmosphere in a historic building is the perfect place to join Salem locals for the BEST breafkast and lunch menu in town. The food is delicious, all home-style cooking at pricing so reasonable you almost feel guilty. Having visited numerous restaurants in Salem that charge outrageous pricing for mediocre food, Red's Sandwich Shop is the crown jewel of the city in terms of excellent food, great prices, and a lovely environment with a friendly staff. They offer an extensive breakfast and lunch menu, Dinner Specials, and a daily $6.95 Special.. And when they say roasted Turkey, they mean roasted Turkey -- whole turkeys are roasted on the premises and carved for your order. In a tribute to Thanksgiving, their Home Style Turkey Sandwich (roasted Turkey, dressing, cranberry sauce and gravy) is out of this world! Wonderful specialty items from Chicken Marsala and Chicken Piccata to Chicken Pot Pie are made to order. Soups and chowders made fresh daily. For a variety of sandwiches from open-faced, to club, to roll-ups -- they cannot be beat. Red's is an award-winning restaurant that received the "BEST BREAKFAST ON THE NORTH SHORE" award for 24 years in a row! I cannot rave enough about this restaurant. If you have only one restaruant to visit in Salem, make it Red's.
We attempted to have a late lunch at "Reds" on a Monday afternoon based upon all the great reviews we read. We arrived 40 minutes before the kitchen was closing. The.Staff appeared irritated by our presence and we were glared at for several minutes prior to being offered seating. Perhaps we interrupted their rush to get their shift over and done with or perhaps they were irritated by the continuous running and screaming of the high energy 4 year old who seemed to either belong to, or somehow be the ultimate responsibility of, their less than pleasant hostess. However, my guess is that the staff just wanted out for the day. The hostess made a point to notify each customer who walked through the door after us as to how many minutes remained until closing. On the plus side, My Husband enjoyed one.of their specialty sandwiches, which I also tried and it was very good, however we both agreed that the meatloaf that I ordered was disgusting and Neither of us could eat it. Between the crunch of the egg shells and fibrous meat substance it was a ""no no to the meatloaf". On the bright side, the Waitress did apologize when I told her my meal was disgusting and neither one of us could eat the "mystery meat". Besides the "buy one meal ,throw the other in the trash deal", we also enjoyed being scolded by the hostess for attempting to pay with our debit card after not seeing the tiny sign buried amongst all the clutter that clearly read "cash only". If the opportunity presented itself, we might try this place again based upon the other consistently favorable reviews we have read, but if we did we would definitely be sure to bring our business to them earlier in the day so as not to inconvenience the staff who work there.

Half price Appertizers at the Bar from 4:00 -6:00 every day .
While taking a weekend to care for our five year old grand daughter, we decided to find a nice little italian restaurant to take her since that's her favorite type of food as long as its prepared HER way.
We were seated immediately, which when you're with a child, is a good thing. We ordered right away and because our waitress happened to have two small children, she understood our urgency and brought over bread and drinks for the three of us.
I ordered the Scampi Scampi, ($18.95) which is 6 jumbo shrimp sautéed with garlic, parsley and lemon in white wine sauce then tossed with fresh linguini. It was fantastic!
My husband chose the fresh Pappardelle Bolognese ($18.95) which is the large flat pasta tossed with classic the meat sauce. He's become an expert on Bolognese sauces and gave this one five stars. Our little one ordered a side of Fusilli (6.95) JUST BUTTER - no green stuff on top, and that's exactly the way she got it.
The total with for the three of us with two glasses of wine and a lemonade came to about $70. Tack on a 20% tip and considering the amount of food and the great service, not a bad deal.

Enjoy a romantic dinner, or unwind after a busy day in Salem and try out our local cheeses, seafood and meats, while sipping on your favorite wines. Wine enthusiasts will enjoy our wine by the glass flights to compliment or contrast your palate, while a selection of specialty Ales is paired with our menu for those looking for a more robust beer experience.
We were staying in the Hawthorne Hotel on a Sunday evening a few weeks before Halloween so it was a bit crowded, even for a Sunday night. We went to the bar for a drink and some appetizers and it was nicely appointed and had no trouble getting a table to sit. Unfortunately the bar tender and server seemed either greatly understaffed or over matched in their duties as it took 2 minutes to get a drink even though there were less than 20 people in the bar. When we did get our appetizers a half hour later, I will say they were quite good. I do question the $20 price tag for 2 craft beers when we returned for a nightcap a few hours later, although I was able tog et them in less than 5 minutes!

Don't touch anything else. If you must be here for the view, the terrace or some other redneck convinced you to pass by, have some deep fried food - at least you won't taste anything else then the batter.
We ordered salad with grilled shrimp. The waiter the. Asking whether it would be with Cesar or regular salad. Given the choice some of us opted for Cesar. Out came store bought Cesar with fake dressing and limp leaves with chilled cooked shrimp. The confrontation went as follows: "we ordered grilled shrimp" - "sorry", the waiter replied "that's how we do the Cesar salad". "But, we asked for grilled shrimp and you offered a choice of salad, didn't you." Offering to consult with the 'chef' (ha ha) the message he brought back was "that, yes, indeed, that's how we do the Cesar." Upset as we were one bite I to one of the actual grilled shrimp Ames it clear that this is a loose loose situation. The shrimp were badly charred, bone hard plainly inedible and by the time one of us had the pleasure to eat it it was cold, too.
People are raving about this place - why I don't know as it is stuck in the 1970s concept of American tavern food: unappetizing, unhealthy and undress. The waiters dumb and unapologetic.
Really, the worst place I have been to for a very long time - oh since the late 90s, when the seventies were still passable...
