Uptown food at small town prices. Housed in a beautifully restored 19th century stone building within the Maple Creek Heritage District, The Star Cafe & Grill offers a high-quality dining experience with a casual atmosphere, with friendly accommodating service and food cooked fresh when you order it. In addition to amazing steaks and prime rib, the menu pays homage to the rich culinary traditions of restaurant's diverse staff, with dishes influenced by international destinations such as Mauritius and Guyana. Dress up or come as you are.
Weddings. Summer. That is why we ended up in Maple Creek. Small town with an expected limited restaurant selection; you know, a Chinese buffet, a bakery, and maybe a coffee shop. Across from the Living Sky park, where the Farmer's market is held, is Star....MoreWhat a lovely, atmospheric review of the Star. We enjoyed serving you and Chef Joel completely understood your comment on the chicken. Our menu is a reflection of the people who cook now and have cooked in our kitchen. We're glad you enjoyed your experience.

We were here for a late lunch and enjoyed the experience. Ambience is unique and pleasant. A well-maintained, clean, light and airy room. Service was pleasant if a tad slow to serve the meals. Prices are fair and reasonable especially for a resort location with little competition. Recommended.

Our made from scratch food arrives fresh, in ample portions, with the single goal of satisfying your hunger. We believe in delivering delicious, comforting food that speaks for itself. Our bar is stocked with an amazing selection of beers from around the world. Our service is genuine and welcoming. Above all, the one thing that sets us apart from the rest is this...our steaks are delicious! Every time! Why? We use fresh, never frozen Canadian AAA, aged 28 days and cut in house. From rare to well done, we will cook your steak just the way you like it! We love to entertain! Our customers are considered guests of the highest honour and we carry on the tradition of Saskatchewan hospitality every day. There is always something delicious and fun happening at The Rockin' Horse!
The bar is lively but the dining area is quiet. The chef is the best. I was amazed at how good the steak was. I was amused that the menu included "horse nuts" -a very creative appetizer ?. Maple Creek is a small ranch town...MoreThanks! We take serving up 'surprisingly good food' seriously. We're glad you enjoyed it. Some days the restaurant is busy and the bar is quiet. Sometimes...the whole place is rockin' at the same time. Great food, good times! Please come and visit us again.

This restaurant is not only attractive on the outside, but very charming on the inside, with friendly staff and very tasty (and large) portions of food! I don't think you can find a more affordable meal in this town, and it was very delicious. Their daily special came with soup, the entree and dessert and it was all for under $10! Absolutely worth visiting!

We had a meeting go late into the evening one night, and this place was the only place open for a late night meal. They happily took our order and even delivered the food across the street to the Jasper Hotel where we were enjoying a drink post-meeting. I had dry ribs and fries and they were very good. My cohorts had pizza, which looked and smelled amazing...that will be what I have next time!!

We serve espresso, cappuccino, latte and other hot and cold drinks, as well as fresh baking and light lunch options. We also have hard-to-find fine groceries (think truffle oil, ponzu, dried wild mushrooms) and giftware which reflects our homey, heritage-focussed building.
Stopped in here on the way to the West Block of Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park. Very interesting decor. Limited menu, but great coffee and breakfast pizzas were a different option. Very friendly staff and reasonable prices.

Great Scenes with a Grande Finale in Consul. The Bakery offers all the goodness of recipes prepared with care for the best quality possible. I drove 32 miles from Fort Walsh for my supply of baked goods. They also serve sandwiches, pastries, home made burgers, & chili. That's all I can remember. Don't forget to pickup a tub of honey! There's more it's your turn to add your favourites.

Howard's Bakery is located on the west side of Maple Street in the first block south of Pacific Avenue.
They serve delicious donuts, muffins, bars as well as other baked goods. Ice cream, drinks and breakfast/lunch items are also popular items. My personal favourites are their cherry filled donuts and their cheese sticks. Fresh bakery items are available every day and their fresh whole wheat bread is excellent for a hearty Sandwich. Unfortunately they are closed Mondays but are open the rest of the week.
