This is our 4th holiday to Mike’s Hotel and once again the family have welcomed us like life long friends, and helped us have the most relaxing holiday you cold wish for. Nothing is too much trouble, and as always we were treated like kings the whole time we were there. In fact two days after we arrived we booked up for next year just to make sure we could get in. Looking forward to it already.

Restaurant Zafferano is the second Italian restaurant opened by the owners of the well-established Restaurant Kariatis in Chania. Beautiful, contemporary design offering both style and comfort, Zafferano opened in 2004 with a refreshingly different menu comprised of premier ingredients from both Crete and Italy. Every dish at Zafferano is prepared and cooked completely fresh to order, serving up a delicious selection of fresh pasta, risotto, fresh filleted fish and seafood specialities, vegetarian dishes and succulent fresh fillet steaks. Also for the fourth summer we continue to seduce sushi lovers with our sensational sushi bar. All this, together with the added indulgence of our delicate, gourmet desserts and a wine list featuring both excellent award-winning Greek wines and an extensive choice of great International wines from around the world - we invite you to fine dine in Zafferano for what promises to be, an evening of delicious indulgence!
Visited somewhat early in the evening and were initially the only customers there.
Nice and relaxed pace. Elegant but still personal.
Food was somewhat blend and unindpired but tasted normally good. It was what one could call a "deasant" meal but without the WOW factor. Children's menu were totally absent. Staff suggested we could share our portions with the child. This is actually a positive thought as it is obvious they are not chasing profit at any cost.
We enjoyed the stay but will probably not be back.

We walked past this restaurant several times without going in simply because it looked empty. That was our mistake and also our loss. The restaurant is based on the outside Terrace at the rear of the hotel. You can only see the foyer/reception/bar area from the door. Step in, walk to the rear and lo and behold so begins a wonderful experience.
The view from the Terrace is not the best but the food and the staff more than make up.
I can thoroughly recommend the boureki and the moussaka both aptly listed on the menu under "mama's cooking"
The staff are an example of perpetual motion yet despite being busy will take time to ensure that you are enjoying the food and are constantly improving the experience.
As usual, the complimentary cake at the end of the meal is one of the best offered as well as unusually a choice of raki or coffee. Ideal for those that don't like the local firewater.
Of the restaurants we visited during our recent holiday this was our favourite. Good home cooked food, brilliant staff and despite not having the best view, well worth our five stars

During our holiday we went here for breakfast and dinner (twice). The menu has several dishes from several cultures, also includes a few local ones. Recommend to try the pizzas and breakfast. If you are into beer, this place has a wide selection. The restaurant has a good taste in music. Not your average hits-from-the-80s.

Symposium Restaurant Symposium is the trademark of elegance and class in Platanias. Acclaimed in its collection of Greek and International dishes based on organic and free range and a best quality products for those who care about what they eat. Indoor and outdoor options Dinner A selection of Greek and International wines, spirits & cocktails Bookings essential Bookings essential
We’d left coming here until we wanted something a little different, the majority of the restaurants on the strip In Platanias seem to offer standard Greek fare and nothing wrong with that but we wanted a change.
We were greeted at the entrance by a pleasant young lady who sat us downstairs but undercover in this large and handsomely designed restaurant. There are candles on the tables and they clearly make an effort here with their friendly and efficient service.
Unfortunately the food didn’t quite live up to the surroundings for us, my linguine arrabiata starter was actually spaghetti and was overly pungent. Arrabiata should have decent flavour but I think there was an overuse of sun-dried tomatoes which rendered it slightly overpowering and a little bitter. My wife’s grilled halloumi was decent but she was disappointed that it was coated and the black currant dip lacked depth.
We both selected beef stifado for main, I know I said we wanted something different but we love stifado and expected this place to deliver. Again it didn’t meet expectations, the flavour was somewhat lacking although there was a very generous portion of beef and shallots. I do wish the higher end restaurants would concentrate more on taste and less on portion size although I understand that there’s a consumer driven demand for larger portions these days. The carrots were essentially uncooked and the random addition of a stick of cinnamon in each dish doesn’t cut it for me. I make my own stifado at home and although not Greek, mine wins hands down and that can’t be right.
The people here are warm and ultra friendly so I feel a little guilty awarding only three stars but it’s mostly about the food for me - sorry..

Cosmos is a must destination in Platanias as it is well known for the breathtaking location as for the dinning experiences that the foodies are fun of. Juicy steaks, fresh fishes, must desserts and world class cava surrounded by chill and lounge music are the hi heats that for sure will built a saga visit to find greatness within.Cosmos is the abselut dinning resto and deserves one visit if you are close by. Restaurant policy: Babies , young children , baby wagons-trolleys-baskets are NOT allowed in the restaurant and restaurant sadly does not support baby chairs and children’s menus. Restaurant does not serves snacks and cocktails and dishes for vegans & vegetarians , We do not have strong dress code but we recommend smart casual. No sport / running shorts or beach clothes if possible.
Cosmos was highly recommended to us and we visited as a group of 10 mature adults. .
Pros: Location is superb and views make it worth the visit
Food - when we finally got it - was excellent.
Cons: Service was almost bizarre. Waiters looked extremely professional but we
weren't sure all of them were doing much. We arrived at 7pm and it was 8.15 before we were asked if we'd like to see a menu. We asked 3 times for wine but none came until we asked again which was quite annoying. Once those 3 bottles were empty, glasses were immediately cleared away, whether anyone would have liked another drink or not, which was really surprising.
I can see no point in writing more - either good or not so good - because, looking at other reviews, it seems the Manager isn't particularly interested and sadly his comments are often quite sarcastic, which is very unfortunate.
Fantastic for couples who seemed to get very good, personal service. Sadly we didn't.

Pailio Arhontiko stands out from the other restaurants next to it not only for its wonderful menu but also its beautiful decor and wonderful service.
On arrival you are greeted with a smile and complimentary glass of sparkling wine and get your first chance to explore the menu. We tried a number of different dishes and none disappointed. From the pork bites, octopus, marinated chicken and salads all were beuatifully, cooked, flavoured and presented. The service was attentive but not over the top. We went just before they shut for the winter period (they open again in April) but were still fed and looked after well. For an after dinner treat try the dessert wine and homemade dark chocolate and nit bites - absolutely amazing!
We went twice in theweek we were in Crete and I will certainlygo again when I return to the Island

Situated at Platanias Beach, with a 15year history, serving pure Cretan and Mediterranean cuisine. The restaurant is seasonal, opening from the beginning of May till the end of season.
Good service with a nice view to the ocean from most of the tables outside. The food was good, we had salad and moussaka.

We ate lunch here outside with lovely views of the sea and dinner inside with family and friends. The food is lovely with traditional favourites as well as some more unusual dishes. Service is good and staff very friendly. Will certainly be returning when we are next in Maleme.

Went into the restaurant twice. First time for drinks and then the next night for dinner.
I had the Kleftiko which was really nice as a main and also garlic bread. Washed down with Amstel! Maybe a few of them....
Host was brilliant, made the experience what it was.
