You’ll get the 70’s feeling when you enter this restaurant. There’re so many things from 70’s like the old telephone, phonograph, and traditional mask.
The waiters using the traditional clothe from java.
And then you’ll find puppet inside the restaurant and there’s a puppet stage with the traditional music instrument Gamelan.
I got a spooky feeling here. But until i finish my lunch there’s nothing happened hehe.
The price is cheap and you’ve try the tempe and tahu penyet, because the sambal was very good.

Melati Restaurant is the only restaurant in Malang that features a classic, romantic Malang Tempo Doeloe (Nostalgic Times of Malang) atmosphere, Melati Restaurant is famous for its original Indonesian home-cooking old recipes, its Chinese Peranakan menu, as well as a vast menu of tender, juicy steaks, ranging from old Dutch Colonial recipes of batter-fried steaks to gourmet French-style grilled steaks. With its complete breakfast bread menu all baked fresh from the oven daily, this restaurant is also a favorite breakfast and brunch spot, the only one of its kind with its serene Javanese atmosphere and lush tropical greens. The 24-hour Melati Restaurant has catered to a row of presidents and ministers of Indonesia.
We had several Indonesian dishes and everything was excellent. The menu was very varied and the staff very friendly.
The price is high comparing with the common restaurants but average for European prices. (About 20€/person)
After we had a tour of the building and visited the hotel rooms. The guide Andy was very nice and showed every room in detail. The presidential suite was amazing! They also have a shop for jewelry, food specialties and gift shop.

Have to try bakso (meatball) bakar (grilled)
Actually IMO the taste of bakso bakar depends on the sauce.... They combine chilli and sweet soya sauce....
U can bite it or eat with the soup (beef broth)
Unfortunately some of local stall of bakso bakar are closed now. This one is quite good
Buuuut.... Not kind of place for hang out. Just eat there and find other places to chit-chat! LoL

There are plenty places in Malang which specialized in Ayam Goreng (Indonesian traditional fried chicken). This place definitely hit the spot for me. Ayam goreng was marinated enough, then deep fried till somewhat crispy. S raved with variety Sam also for your choice. My favorite is green mango sambal and that evening, luckily they have it in stock.
We ordered fried tofu, tempeh, chicken liver & gizzard, and fried catfish in sambal as well (pecel lele), and everything was tasty.
The restaurant has no AC as I recall, so be prepared to get a little bit warmer from time to time, especially when the restaurant is crowded.
Service was prompt, but we had to look for them once in awhile. Some of our order took awhile to be served.

This is a much better place to eat than bakso president. I went to both places and I found that bakso president is so salty and this one is much much better. Should have stayed with this one and didn't even try the other one don't get fooled by the more famous name

It's a Chinese food restaurant, and it has two main stores (IIRC), this and another one at Soekarno Hatta road. The food itself is quite good, and as the title describes, the portion is quite generous.
PS: Gang Jangkrik outlet at Soekarno Hatta road guaranteed us that their menu is Halal, while this branch is not Halal. They're owned by the same person though, and the taste is quite the same.

They located on small groceries store at malang (Lai-lai). So never expect this place is large. But eventhough small, this cafe give a bold flavour for their foods and drinks. Their food are awesome, delicious, and flavorful. But they need to add more variety of foods, because most of them are carbs (pasta, rice, burger, pizza, etc.) , their drinks are also in a high quality, their juice i think the best in town, their coffee have same quality with that franchise coffeeshop. The price is affordable, the service are fast & good, the waiters are very kindly. But the cons is you should queue and wait for the seat everytime you came to here in busy hours. Tips: came here only with couple, less people less time to wait for the seat.
