Mae Sai (Thai: แม่สาย, pronounced [mɛ̂ː sǎːj]; Shan: မႄႈသၢႆ, pronounced [mɛ.sʰǎj]), is home to the district headquarters of Mae Sai District in the top of Chiang Rai province, Thailand. Mae Sai is a major border crossing between Thailand and Myanmar. Asian Highway Network AH2 (Thailand Route 1 or Phahonyothin Road) crosses the Mae Sai River to the town Tachileik in Myanmar. The town of Mae Sai and Tachileik are the bi-national conurbation shared between Thailand and Myanmar.

I lived in Mae Sai for over a year and whenever I needed fresh greens I headed here for the salad bar. You only get one run through so make it count! It's a delightful spot. They serve good dishes as well along with refreshing beverages. They also have a coffee stand, dessert and ice cream. Relaxing way to spend an afternoon.

I live in Mae Sai and regularly eat here. I recommend the Khao Soi or the pork satays. There fresh fruit smoothies are also very good.
The owner is very friendly and good at English having spent time in Australia.
To get there go down the road to the left of the boarder crossing, walk through the market on the left and it is the only restaurant on the right.

We stooped at this restaurant at lunch during our trip to Golden Triangle organised from Chiang Mai. The lunch was buffet style which plenty of choices and cater for all tastes and diets all been cooked to perfection.

This is one of the finest Chinese restaurants I have ever visited and local Thai people rate it as the very best in northern Thailand. It is not in the town centre and it is therefore necessary to take the local sawng taeo (open sided taxi) or motorcycle taxi to the restaurant, which is about 3 kilometres from the border post on the Chiang saen road. It is open from 11.00am until 9.00pm and serves a wide range of mouth-watering dishes in medium or large portions. Prices are very reasonable considering the high quality of the food - most main courses being in the region of 200 baht for the medium dish and 300 baht for the large dish. The staff are smart, helpful and most attentive. Food arrives very quickly and you are served with refreshing jasmine tea until your meal is ready. Credit cards are accepted. Tables range from individual 2 seaters to large banqueting ones Seating around a dozen, making it ideal for a small group. English was spoken by the waitress taking the orders and special requests were readily understood. In terms of value for money it is excellent, the food being carefully and well-cooked, attractively presented and arriving fresh and hot. I would recommend the prawns fried in ginger or the Szechuan style hot and sour soup - but then all the dishes seem so tempting! If arriving by public transport it is well worthwhile obtaining the mobile phone number of the driver so you may summon him or her to take you back into the town centre after the meal as it is relatively isolated from the main traffic flow, especially at night. But it is more than worth a trip there and a superb way to end a day of sightseeing!

Our guide, Tony, brought us here for lunch after a visit to Mae Sai border and on the way to Doi Mae Salong. We ate the Khao Soi and chicken clear soup noodle( 40 bht each bowl). Food is very tasty and lunch is simple and satisfying. The restrooms here are very clean.

Coffee shop among natural mountain and breathtaking scenery. We provide 100% Arabica coffee of good quality from Pahee mountain( Doi Pahee ) which is the place that is the perfect coffee growing conditions (1,000 to 1,300 meters from sea level ). Also we have juice, smoothie and dessert that made from fruits in our own farm.

I used to live in Mae Sai and would come here regularly to eat. It's not a WOW place, just a good basic cafe with simple Thai food. The owners are very friendly and it is one of the few places in town you can buy beef (as the family is Muslim). I can recommend the beef fried rice, the chicken steak, the vegetables and rice and the kit kat frappe.
