Had a wonderful Acadian lunch of chicken stew and plowed. Ployes are a bread substitute, served warm with butter, molasses, maple syrup or cretins. Best service. A little piece of the northern Aroostook culture.

After a long ride to northern Maine, we stopped in for dinner. The main meals are always consistent. Dessert however wasn't what I remembered! Coconut cream pie. I wasn't sure where the pie crust was. It seemed like there was Lots of cool whip with toasted coconut on top. Why did you change the recipe or leave out the pudding/ custard filling?

Very good--the size of the portions. It would be difficult to go away hungry. The chicken stew was also a standout. Good--the service which was friendly and attentive Okay--the burger and poutines, neither of which was anything special.

We were visiting married children in nearby Fort Kent and wanted to take them out to dinner. From what I could find online, there did not seem to be many good options for eating out locally (the restaurant currently ranked #3 in Fort Kent on TripAdvisor is a Subway!) Our kids suggested this place and it was a good choice. The food was quite good and they had a modest wine list. The meal for 4 with a bottle of wine including tip was around $135.

Tastee Freeze has been a fixture in Madawaska for half a century. Has grown over the years to incorporate all sorts of hot menu items - both grilled and fried. It's still the place where Madawaskans will congregate on a HOT summer evening (70-75F) to quench their thirst and enjoy a soft serve or ice cream sundae. Nothing fancy - just anther place to call home!

I've always enjoyed eating the food from Jeff's. There is always a variety of specials. The atmosphere in the restaurant is nice. It's a new building since the other one burnt down. Not open on Sundays. The fried chicken is really good to. A safe bet and not expensive either.

The Gateway Motel and Restaurant were renovated in 2014; we have not stayed in Motel since, but haveeaten twice in restaurant. Both times the food was decent - well prepared, tho large portions; a somewhat limited but adequate menu including several sandwiches, seafood, pasta, chicken, soups/salads, and 6-7 appetizers. We had a herbed/grilled chicken, and a very nice BBQ scallops, with large serving of shrimp cocktail for an appetizer - deserts sounded great, but we were too full. Full meal prices were $12-16 with the highest we saw $18. A small wine list was more than adequate and house wines were only $3.50. We found service on our first visit very poor - but it was their opening weekend and they were busy and probably inexperienced; the second time the service was very good - waitress very attentive, an we did not feel rushed.
We were entertained both times by keyboards and a vocalist - quiet music that was very pleasant to eat to or dance to; we note a previous review of loud music and can assume it was not one of the entertainers we saw (who could NOT be heard outside restaurant) - it would seem appropriate to check on the entertainment before staying here, perhaps getting a room far from restaurant.
