This a desert coming from Ottoman Empire. Beton means rock/ hard. Beton halvah is harder in consistency when compared to other halvah. It is traditionally done in Trabzon. Ingredients include Sesame paste, sugar, Oil, nuts and more. If you have been in Trabzon you should try Beton Halvah. They have different flavors.

The Arsenal has been restored according to the original in 2010 and is today one of the leading restaurant in Trabzon and region.
I was in this place on 2013 august, and was again on august 2015. The same perfect service, tasty and fresh foods.
I meet again admin Ali, very friendly man. He remember me and asked me: some years before you were here with 4 people, today you are visit alone. I shocked, he remembers me.
Just 2 changes i sow between 2013-2015: menu changed to little more to europe food, but some localm food you can order also.
Second changes: they closed tea service in near restoran like turkish style.
But this changes not changed my oppinion about this restaurant. I like this place and only eat there when i visite Trabzon.

Anyone wanting a peaceful and tranquil holiday try Kalkan, it's a beautiful small town with the usual shops and restaurants, to be honest I've visited Kalkan twice on weekends out and fell in love with the place, sat in restaurant right on the ocean edge its absolutely breath taking. My friends daughter goes there every year and just love's the place, it's not seen or advertised on many holiday sites but anyone wanting a peaceful place to visit Kalkan is the place.

The location for Necla Hanim is little bit out of city center on the main east-west shore highway. So I would recommend those travelling by car to stop by this local desert place especially to try the local laz boregi, a sweet version of borek made with crispy filo pastry and pudding in between. I heard they have another location but the one I had been was across from Nova Hotel, the congress center. The desert shop is on the main road and you can drive in and park in the front. They have many delicious pastry choices served in nice indoor and outdoor setting. The outdoors is cozy with rattan Seating groups, and the store is very clean and hygenic looking.
Stop for a glass of tea, perfectly done and try laz boregi not too much sweet but a light dessert, you will remember me with a smile, the cost is really nothing to talk about.

People go there mainly for their special meatballs.. Actually, the meatball is quite ordinary... It is a very big place having 400 people at the same time.. Not recommended..

A buzzing restaurant. Offers a small menu of local food. I liked their "sac kavurma" (stir fried lamb with tomatoes and green banana chilies), "Tursu kavurma" (stir fried pickles), mixed salad the best. Except the salads everything comes soaked in butter. Heavenly for people who like butter.
