Lyme Regis /ˌlaɪmˈriːdʒɪs/ is a town in West Dorset, England, 25 miles (40 km) west of Dorchester and 25 miles (40 km) east of Exeter. It lies at Lyme Bay on the English Channel coast at the Dorset–Devon border. It is nicknamed "The Pearl of Dorset". It is noted for fossils found in cliffs and beaches that are part of the Heritage Coast—known commercially as the Jurassic Coast—a World Heritage Site. The harbour wall known as "The Cobb" appears in Jane Austen's novel Persuasion, in the John Fowles novel The French Lieutenant's Woman, and in the 1981 film of the same name, which was partly shot in Lyme Regis. Its one-time mayor and MP was Admiral Sir George Somers, who founded the English colonial settlement of the Somers Isles, now known as Bermuda. Lyme Regis is twinned with St George's, Bermuda. In July 2015 Lyme Regis also became "tripled" with Jamestown, Virginia, as the Historic Atlantic Triangle of Lyme, St George's and Jamestown. The 2011 Census gave the parish and electoral ward a population of 3,671.

First impressions were that this restaurant was not so welcoming to newcomers; this is perhaps incorrect as the service was friendly and very efficient. Food was very good; the bhajis were excellent and the main courses definitely better than many Indian restaurants. The food was not oily (often a problem) and it was rather plentiful. Naan and rice pretty standard but what makes this restaurant stand out is the BYO policy; it is always helpful to be able to choose a favourite wine or beer to take along (rather than be restricted by the choices on offer) and it often irritates to pay a huge mark up for a very nondescript wine. Recommended but, as others have said, book!

We lunched here on a cold but sunny February day. On such days we would recommend sitting in the inner restaurant rather than the café/bistro area, to avoid the inevitable chilly draughts when customers are entering/exiting the premises. We sat at the window table, which has a pleasant view of the Town Mill complex and the folks that stroll past. Two of us had soup of the day – an excellent and unusual roasted fennel concoction – and one had a superb chicken terrine. For mains we had a homemade burger – truly delicious – a ‘catch of the day’ (salmon), and a chicken breast in the most delicious sauce. All extremely well cooked and delightfully presented. There was absolutely nothing to fault here, either in ambience, service or culinary creations. Altogether a very pleasant dining experience, if perhaps a little on the pricey side.

Family run Traditional Italian Trattoria, serving pasta , meat and fish dishes. Please note that we are a seasonal business and close from October - March
Excellent front of house, warm greeting and lovely -if small restaurant. We both had the crab linguine, unfortunately the crab was probably still in the ocean as neither of us found any within the dish. We will go back and try again as so many have commented on how good this dish is and we must have just had bad luck or a night when they were short on crab.

Beautiful sunny and dry winter's day out for the family in Lyme. After lots of walks around, we stopped for afternoon tea outside on the parade. Very friendly service, lovelt teas, coffee and hot chocolates overlooking the beach - and all at a very reasonable price.

Famous Fresh Local Fish And Chips Range Of Delious Burgers And Breakfasts
It’s a cold, bright winter’s day and we are hungry. We both went for the Whiting and chips, possibly one of the best fish fillets I have ever eaten, as good as any restaurant in London, and huge. We sat on the beach wall to eat it, pretty perfect. And all for £7! Incredible quality, perfectly cooked, friendly service and all from a wooden hut smaller than my garden shed! A must if in Lyme.

Vintage inspired cafe serving teas, coffees, homemade lunches, scones, cakes and shakes! Relax with a cold drink in our sun-trap courtyard or sit inside foot tapping to rock'n roll! Our new American Diner bar is perfect for the kids to have their milkshakes. Dogs are welcome.
Gem of a little cafe tucked away off the high street, went there between Christmas and New Year for tea and cake. Child friendly. Fab 1950s/vintage decor, friendly staff great atmosphere. Take a look round the antique/fossil shop on way out. Would recommend.

We are a fully licenced family run restaurant. Specializing in homemade gourmet Beef, chicken & Vegetarian burgers We also offer local fish & chips and a full Sunday roast dinner menu. All of our meat & fish is ethically sourced and reared locally, where possible.
We had walked past this place many times without being tempted -- the exterior is unprepossessing and the burger theme seemed at first glance a bit ordinary. But arriving in Lyme on a quiet out of season Friday we gave it a go, partly because some other places with more obvious appeal were closed. It was really lovely! The premises are cosy and spotless;the staff, who are probably a family, extremely genuine and effective; the menu varied and imaginative with burgers of beef, chicken or veg. Hand cut and sweet potato chips are available to French fry connoisseurs. My partner wanted the fish n chips but is gluten free -- no problem, it came pan fried with just a light cornflour batter to hold it together. My veggie burger sat tall and proud in a quality brioche bun with salad and sauces. There is just no pressure or fuss -- I had a nice pot of tea with a jug of hot water on the side, my partner a glass of red wine. Inexpensive, delicious, v relaxing, we loved it. The lady who served us was a dear, and rightly proud of her homemade coleslaw.

Homemade, real Italian cuisine by an Italian chef/owner. Modern decor, comfortable and atmospheric. Family friendly, good value and table service. Serving pizzas, pastas, chicken, seafood, daily specials and many more. Booking advisable but not always necessary. Popular with locals and visitors all year round.
We had dinner here one evening while walking the South West Coast Path. We had the lasagne and tagliatelle bolognaise which were OK but nothing special. There was the usual limited dessert choice in Italian restaurants so we skipped them.

One of the few places in Lyme Regis that does vegetarian food.
A nightmare to find veggie food in Lyme Regis as everything is seafood based & most places only have one or two token gestures that are way overpriced.
A note to food & pub outlets, not everyone eats meat or fish.
Pies at this lovely shop include Spinach & Ricotta. Cauliflower cheese with Kale. Sweet potato & Spinach. Also spicy 3 beans.
None veggie options available too. All types £3.75 each.
Seating available inside to eat or you can take food away with you.
Nice Guinness cake available too.
