Great food, prepared and served well. That's what eating out should be about and it is what you will find at The Inn at Lathones. The Inn at Lathones has always had a superb reputation for its food and over the years has won and retained many awards for its cuisine but you can be assured we understand that eating out is not about awards. Guests can choose to dine in the cosy atmosphere of the bar and lounge area, maybe even sitting in front of the log burning stove or reserve a table in the restaurant. Our food is served in an informal manner - we are an old coaching inn after all - and offers great value for money throughout the day from breakfast, through lunch, afternoon teas, bar suppers and dinner. Executive Chef Chris Wright uses only the freshest local produce in his menus that change with the season.
Can't rate this highly enough. Beautifully laid party table, food awesome and cooked to perfection. Delicious. ( more than one guest remarked of the steak that it was the best they'd ever had anywhere! ). Menu pre booked and choices and budget were ours, not told what to do as is policy in some places. It was all about what we wanted, and we got it exactly as had asked. Perfect! Can't thank Scott enough for all his organisation and careful attention to detail, for looking after us so well yet without any sense of intrusion. Really very impressed! Thank you so much!

The Peat Inn is owned by award winning Chef and columnist Geoffrey Smeddle and his wife Katherine. With Geoffrey at the heart of the kitchen and Katherine's warmth and care filling the restaurant, they have been successful in building on the very fine reputation of one of Scotland's most cherished destinations. The Inn has existed on this spot since the 1700s. Today, the Michelin starred restaurant with rooms continues to welcome guests who appreciate the special and very personal experience which is the hallmark of The Peat Inn. Three small dining rooms make up the restaurant, providing an intimate setting for lunch or dinner. Each room is also available for private parties if required. The reception lounge with its deep sofas and open log fire, creates an atmosphere which is elegant and refined and made all the more enjoyable by the friendly and attentive service. A few steps from the restaurant is The Residence where eight individually designed luxury suites offer the opportunity for a rather special night away, where the pleasures of the table spill over into a charming over-night setting. From your aperitif upon arrival to coffee and a liqueur before you have to depart, we are sure you will enjoy every moment of the wonderful cuisine and hospitality at The Peat Inn.
We had lunch last week
I opted for the 4 course tasting lunch menu. Was brilliant.
Wife had the 3 course set lunch menu which she also loved.
Great little touches in between like the amuse bouche. Beautiful fresh breads. Coffee and Petit Fours.
I enjoyed a brilliant whisky cocktail in the Lounge beforehand. We also enjoyed a couple of glass of red wine and white wi e during our meal.
Excellent attentive staff and it was a really
Relaxed atmosphere.
Great few hours spent here. We will return.

Friday night meal for a birthday treat for four of us. Starters included scallops, very good, and two soups, which could have been a little bit hotter.
Mains enjoyed by all, included the butterfly chicken, sirloin steak, a tender lamb shank, and the sea bass which was good, but it would have been nice if the staff would have asked if we wanted it filleted, which we would have. We had own birthday cake with candle, and we had three coffees along with the four drinks with the meal. The bill came to £124.60 for the four of us, which did not include any Deserts so quite expensive.
Regards Gary Saunders.

Every time we visit St Andrews we drive down the Craig Millar. Have a glass of bubbly in the bar (or on the patio overlooking the ocean) while you peruse the menu and order. You are then seated in the dining room, usually with a sea view, and get to try their wonderful food. The menu is fish-centric with options for carnivores and veggies too. Efficient, friendly and competent service, very good wine list. This place ticks all of the boxes. Reservations are staggered to give an unrushed dining experience.

Used an Itison voucher for 2 course sunday lunch and was very impressed. Good selection of meals and all were simply delicious and very well presented. For the main I had roast beef and Yorkshire pudding and the portion was more than ample and to die for. Staff were friendly and helpful and surroundings were cosy and comfortable. Will certainly return.

The Ship Inn at Elie in Fife has long been one of Scotland's most iconic pubs, famous for its great views, stunning location, and even as the only pub in the world to have a cricket team with a pitch on the beach. The owners, Graham and Rachel Bucknall, who also run the Bridge Inn at Ratho (named as AA Pub of the Year in September 2014) purchased the Ship Inn, a pub they both knew very well, in late 2014. After a major 6-month renovation programme, they re-opened a transformed Ship Inn in the summer of 2015. 6 beautiful bedrooms were opened in March 2016. The inn is part of a row of old cottages by the harbour. At its heart is the bar where the comfy chairs and sofas beside the open fires and wood-burning stoves make a welcome sight, especially when it's windy and rainy outside. You are more than welcome just to call in for a coffee, but it's worth stopping longer for a pint, a whisky or a meal in the upstairs restaurant with its views of the bay. The same menu is offered throughout the inn - and if you have your dog with you, he or she is very welcome to join you downstairs - water, treats and even dog beds are provided. The food is of the hearty pub variety, but seafood, locally caught, is high on the menu. Graham and Rachel have also created delightful double and twin bedrooms, all with views of Elie Bay and the Firth of Forth. The Ship Inn is unique in the fact that it has the only cricket team in the UK that plays matches on the beach. From May to September, depending on the tide and after the sand has been rolled flat, the Ship's team hosts matches for other Scottish teams and touring teams from all over the world.
Walked through snow from St Monans to get here and it was well worth the effort. The artichoke soup and homemade bread were excellent. My son would love the recipe for your pesto bread. My husband enjoyed a large pot of mussels. Service was efficient and very friendly. Hope to get back when we next visit the area

Already listed as a hotel but the bar and restaurant are also very popular with non residents; Trip Advisor pages make it difficult to review the restaurant on its own.
Booked in for 3 night stay. Had seen the hotel pictures on Groupon and got the same deal by phoning direct.
Arrived around 4pm on Saturday afternoon and there was a 40th birthday party already starting !
The car parking is a nightmare at the hotel with very limited spaces. I was lucky at this time to get the last space but had to go out later and on my return around 1730 could not get parked in the hotel or in surrounding streets. The streets have numerous areas with double yellow lines. I eventually had to park in a public car park at the top of the hill, overlooking the harbour. On getting back to the hotel with the rest of my luggage I found out that most of the staff park in the car park and that’s why there’s no spaces !
Room was basic. Great sea views, in fact the water is right under the windows when the tides in!
Hairdryer was useless, couldn’t blow out a candle never mind dry hair but the worst thing about the room was the shower.
It was pitiful with absolutely no pressure. We asked at reception if we could move rooms to get a better shower and told “they are all the same...there’s no pressure in any of them and there’s no pump installed to improve the situation”
Food....had dinner on our first night...was okay, nothing to write home about...my food was lukewarm but husbands was hot.....breakfast reasonable, could be better. I had the Eggs Benedict, again lukewarm.
After returning on our 2nd day in freezing temperatures and unable to get a decent hot shower we decided we would leave early and not stay for our full stay.
Fair dues, when we checked out and went to pay our bar bill the Hotel owner/manageress cancel them as we were in credit of a day...that was appreciated as she didn’t need to do so.
Staff are nice and friendly and jump between serving food and reception duties and are always busy.
Dogs are welcome at the hotel and can stay in the rooms, so the place appeals to dog owners.
Needs a refurb and a decent pump for the showers.
3 star small hotel but Not enough stars for me and at the end of the day you get what you pay for I suppose.
Would never return though.

This smoke house serves freshly caught and freshly smoked fish for lunches. Absolutely delicious! OPEN SEASONALLY. MAY opening Wednesday - Sunday 11 - 5pm. JUNE, JULY & AUGUST open every day with late opening on Friday & Saturday until 9pm. We DO NOT TAKE BOOKINGS just come on down.
Dropped in here for lunch last week after Reading previous reviews. It did not disappoint. Set right on the harbour you are met with a cheery welcome and an explanation on how the ordering system works. Simply make your food and drink choice and collect your table service number.
Food is served upstairs and you can sit in or out. There's a warming wood burning stove if you can't brave the raw Firth of Forth breezes.
We opted for the Hot Smoked Salmon and the Tempura Prawns. Both dishes were fabulous. The batter on the prawns simply melted in the mouth.
Great service, great food. Can't wait to return.

We used this restaurant when staying at Upper Largo. The staff were very friendly a welcoming and the food was very good indeed. The lunchtime offer of fish and chips plus a strawberry tart was very good value at £9.95 each. The fish was locally caught and very fresh. This place is certainly worth visiting if visiting the area.
