Each year, horse enthusiasts hoof it to Louisville and Churchill Downs, the legendary home of the Kentucky Derby. In addition to equestrian endeavors and bluegrass roots, Louisville boasts a range of exciting attractions the whole family can enjoy. Stroll through Central Park, in the historic district, to people-watch and get a real feel for the city. Visit other nearby parks for hiking, biking and fossil finding. Baseball fans will love the Louisville Slugger Museum, a celebration of the sport's legends. The museum is easy to spot, just look for the humongous bat that leans against the building.

Oh my, why have I waited so long to return to this Louisville icon? We were there for an anniversary celebration. Everything was perfect. The food was amazing. I had the lamb chops and I am still thinking about them. Service started slow but once it got going it was flawless. Hope I don't have to wait so long to return. Can't afford this regularly but it definitely is at the top of my special occasion restaurants.

The Mayan Cafe is a small, intimate space. Photos of our chef's village in Mexico cover the walls. We serve authentic Mayan food in an atmosphere of simple elegance.
The food at Mayan Cafe is unlike any other restaurant - fresh, creative, and most of all, delicious. I have eaten here many times, even used MC to cater a family wedding, and I have never been disappointed. Whatever you order is beautifully presented with care and attention to detail. No doubt it is freshly prepared. The drink menu is terrific too, offering authentic and creative options. The dining room is cozy and intimate. All around delightful. Money well spent and a great date night.

Read so much about this place I had to go even if alone. Made a reservation and had first class treatment from the moment I walked in the door. En Route Pinot, Chesapeake oysters and filet special...fabulous. Excellent service, great ambiance, a little expensive and worth every penny. Got to get back here and take my wife

We went here because of all of the great reviews it had! Only two cons are that we had to wait about 30 minutes to be seated and had to pay to park. We did go on a Saturday at noon so I’m sure that’s one of their busiest times. The food and service was great! We ordered one pancake to share and they even cut in in half and gave us each our own plate.

The Brown Hotel is probably the most impressive of several classic old hotels in the area. Thus, the lobby setting is grand. Piano music was available the night we were there. The food is excellent as well. Well prepared and presented. Absolutely worth a trip into downtown.

This was our first pass through Louisville, and so glad we stumbled upon this restaurant. I ordered the grilled fish fillet, which was very good. Husband's Fricase de Pollo dish was so scrumptious, with rich sauce and very tender chicken. Friendly service and fun surroundings will make you want to linger. If in town again, this will be our first stop.

At Mussel and Burger Bar we specialize at adding gourmet qualities to familiar menu staples. Each item has it's own unique flavor profile created and assembled by our Chef/Owners Fernando and Yaniel Martinez. They've studied culinary arts all over the world, and still spend countless hours perfecting their craft, to give this city some remarkably delicious food. We are so honored and happy to be a part of Louisville's food scene, and hope you like it!
My wife very much enjoyed her mussels. Had it not been for the very good and plentiful sweet potato fries, my hamburger was so small, I would have left hungry. As advertised, the meat was excellent and perfectly (medium rare) prepared. I had requested that it be served without a bun on greens. There was no bun, & the "greens" amounted to one piece of lettuce. Absolutely no complaints about the quality.

Fresh American Cuisine Ample portions of fresh, home-cooked food with a southern accent served with love in an artistically eclectic-industrial setting. That's why The Cafe has gathered legions of loyal customers and friends since 1996. Experienced restaurateurs Sal and Cindy Rubino delight in offering one of Louisville's most rewarding, affordable breakfast and lunchtime dining experiences. Sal can often be found "out front" greeting and serving guests, while Cindy has drawn on her decades of diverse cooking experience to develop the Cafe's unique menu of hearty breakfasts and mouth-watering pastries, satisfying sandwiches, elegant salads, hearty soups, and decadent desserts. The Cafe's inviting setting is a big part of its appeal. Located in a creatively restored old warehouse on the eastern edge of downtown Louisville, we may not look like much from the outside, but don't let that fool you! Once inside, you will fall in love with this one-of-a-kind dining experience. So much so that you may want to share a wedding rehearsal, anniversary party or some other important evening event with us! The Cafe's breakfast and lunch customers are an interesting mix of people from all walks of life, all enjoying delicious food at an exceptional value.

I had the lamb ribs, which are hard to find. They were tender, juicy, smoked perfectly. The pork belly beans and the cheese grits crisp were other-worldly. I was sorry it had to end!

It's a beautiful room, no question about it. You can feel the history wherever you are in the Brown. The servers are excellent, professional yet personable. I had told my waiter I did not wish to have bread. But when the man filling the water glasses saw that my table did not have bread, he brought some! Observant and efficient. Excellent!
I started with a glass of a white wine I like as I intended to have the crab cakes as an appetizer. The wine was tasty and enjoyable; the crab cakes okay but hardly memorable.
From there we proceeded to the main dish, the rack of lamb. Three single cut ribs. The lamb was done just right and very enjoyable. And was paired with a glass of the best red wine the room has "by the glass". I really did enjoy each mouthful of that succulent meal. The problem, however, is that three single cut ribs isn't much of a meal (for $46, no less). I used to think of the standard as two double cut ribs, whose size and thus texture I prefer. Though after checking with Jack Fry's, discovered they also serve three single cut chops. (I'd forgotten--had a couple Old Fashioneds before dinner there!) How times have changed--prices go up and the amount of food seems to go down.
Kelly, my waiter, was easy to talk with and even prepared a short list for me of places to "look up"--restaurants, a social club, etc. The room manager came by to make sure I was enjoying the evening.
My last comment addresses my first impression of the experience: The young girl who seated me took me to a table barely into the room and close to the hustle-bustle of the hallway merely feet away. That I was the best-dressed person in the room made no difference to this young, and not well trained enough (person) to recognize an experienced diner who she should know better than to put at a less than desirable table. The room was not busy and had plenty of tables further into the room. When I requested one, she quite willingly moved me. But, that should not have been necessary.
