Things to do in Lord Howe Island

We enjoyed a fish fry dinner as part of a package and had an extremely delicious dinner and would rate it a "must do" while on Lord Howe. A soup starter, good selection of fish, chips and salads for mains, followed by a great variety...MoreThank you for this great review

It's one of those restaurants on Lord Howe that's only operating during the warmer months. It looks and feels improvised. Food is average, service by some teenagers is hit and miss. You can watch the food scraps being discarded into bins while you have your meal, if that's your thing. It wasn't ours.

this is fine dining ...at great expense! Service couldn't be faulted, and setting is lovely, tucked under the trees and a simple but stylish interior.
Although the first two courses were good [over fussy presentation with lots of little dots of this and that] - nice flavours, intricate presentation etc the dessert was disappointing. It was an almond pannacotta, which may have been vegan - dietary requirements not a problem - but didn't taste of anything. Shame, grapes mouldy on my daughters cheeseboard.

You will need to book for Pizza night (Sunday), but it was very nice and is reasonably priced - including the drinks. Good variety of pizza to choose from. Nice country town atmosphere in the club.

Sunday nights roast lamb was delicious and served like you are fine dinning in a large city. Worth a stop for lunch or dinner, but you must book for dinner.

Arriving on the first day we were happy to find this place close to our accommodation to get basic supplies. The prices here seem higher and the range is a bit smaller than Joys but for convenience it is good. You can also but cold beer here at a reasonable price for the island. They claim to have the best burgers on the island but didn't get to test that. There was always a good cowd there when we passed by at lunch times.

Firstly, sensational setting - watch the sun set over the water with a well priced beverage - piccolo of Craigmoor bubbles $8, schooner of coopers $7. Tuesday is Fish Fry night, very simple but well cooked battered fish, chips and coleslaw for $20. Excellent value. Then we returned on Friday night when they run an a la carte menu. We both had the 300 gram scotch fillet steak, $33, with choice of sauces, and salad/chip bar. Unlimited chips, hot rice dish, cold pasta salad, green salad, coleslaw. All sides were fresh and tasty. Steak was cooked to perfection. This is a very friendly little club, the locals make you feel very welcome. And did I mention the view..............
