785-227-3007. Bakery and chef's choice lunch special.
This small café is located at Courtyard Gallery. I guess the ones who run the gallery also run this little café. It's the help yourself-service and it works. There is coffee and some coffebread to choose from even a kind of cinnamon buns when we were there. The gallery is looking for new owners but hopefully someone who wants to go on running the gallery and the little café as well.

We were just traveling through and looking for a place for a quick cup of coffee and light breakfast when we happened upon Blacksmith Coffee Shop. Unique place, historic building, great coffee and wonderful breakfast. We had one of the breakfast specials - a casserole type egg and sausage, applesauce and roll. It was very good, reasonably priced and served hot. We ordered at the counter, and the served brought it to our table. We would definitely return if we came through the area again.

The Swedish Crown is a very pleasant eatery, especially if you are wanting to try Swedish cuisine. The waitstaff are very friendly and knowledgeable about the different menu items and about the area. Our entrees were delicious. And for me, I also had an appetizer of Swedish nachos; you need to try this...!

I was so happy that I decided to try out the White Peacock after noticing their sign while driving down main street. The drink selection, both hot and cold, is massive and amazing. They have a small menu, but the Swedish pancakes that I got were delightful, and all of it was reasonably priced. Just as important, the atmosphere was groovy and exactly what a coffee shop should be. With lots of nooks, crannies, comfortable seating indoor and outdoor, I kept finding more spots I'd like to sit and read while sipping my artisan lemon-aid. Can't wait to go back over and over now that I'm working just down the road in McPherson.

We stumbled into this restaurant in the middle of a pretty big folksfest. It was 1:30 and they were still packed with people, so we waited about 30 minutes to be seated at the high top tables. The food was much better than I expected under such rushed conditions for their kitchen. For bar and grill food, the menu was pretty predictable. We were very happy with their service, so we were happy. I would just choose to come when they were not so busy.

I had the Sloppy German burger, a Reuben burger without corned beef. It was excellent. The tots were HoT and fresh, also excellent. The service was great.
They also have pizzas on certain days, and Venezuelan food of all things, which I was told was very good as well.
I will go back when in the area.

785-227-8762. Runner-up in "Good Morning America" Best Bites competition, 2010.
Stopped at a local Lindsborg favorite for a delicious lunch. Had the Brent Nelson a sausage and cheese sandwiches. My wife had a Ruben. Both very good. She didn't finish hers so I helped. Better than mine but both excellent. Good selection of beers and cocktails. Friendly staff and good stories going around. Stop by for a bite to eat and cold beverages.

There are both Swedish and American choices, but the only eggs served are hard boiled, and they will prepare waffles IF you ask for them. Swedish menu items include lingonberries, pickled herring, Swedish meatballs, two kinds of Swedish cheese, pickled beets, some type of rye cracker bread that tastes a lot like rye crisp, a very stale Swedish tea ring, and a delicious Swedish rye bread. They also offer oatmeal with a few toppings and one choice of cold cereal. I was disappointed that there was no decaf coffee served anywhere in the hotel or restaurant. It was fun to experience a little bit of Sweden for breakfast, but not a lot to choose from.

785-227-8987. Yummy Mexican cuisine.
A person doesn't have to travel south of the boarder for great Mexican food. It's located right on main street in Little Sweden, USA. Good chips, sauce, menu, service, prices . . . Can't go wrong!

I tried this on Sunday evening and was very pleased. I ordered the Seafood Special, with crab, shrimp and scallops. It was cooked to order! The veggies had not sat around getting soft, they were nice and crunchy and hot! The same for the seafood. I received a very large portion that I could barely finish, wishing I'd skipped the (also delicious and hot and fresh) egg rolls.
The young lady waiting on customers was very pleasant and helpful.
One of the best Chinese meals I've had in years!! I will be back.
