Macy's Diner Laoag

Reviewed By Beth G - Metro Manila, Philippines

We loved the interiors, cool all the time considering Laoag city can be very warm all day. Our breakfast came free with our booking. Although the choices were varied, the servings were quite small and had to order extra for big tummies like my sons.. but otherwise, it is enough - choices of sinangag with laoag longaniza, hotcakes, egg and tapa etc.. The staff can use some more training so they can be more lively when serving guests. They seemed shy and not enthusiastic..

It is common for tourist guides and drivers to recommend Fort Ilocandia when touring the southern part of Laoag which includes Paoay Church and the Malacanang of the North. The hotel and restaurant has a character that is exceptional from high rise hotels in NCR or cebu. After a short tour around the hotel compound, we had afternoon snack at their cafe. It was not crowded because of slack reason for tourists and quite far from the city. But we were not disappointed with the serving size and taste of what we ordered. Palabok was very tasty, as well as the crepe and beverages.

I am a rehab stroke patient.A balikbayan too. Total 3 customers( elder sister, myself and my husband) for lunch today.4/23/16 We were seated nicely in a table for 15 minutes and waiting for our orders. Unfortunately, 2 waitresses came (should have ask their names ) requesting us if we could move to the couch with soft chair as a big group around 12 people came to dine too. They were nice to ask but to me, we were seated allready and to moved me to an uncomfortable dining place and give priority to a bigger group,is'nt that a bad customer service. Of course, the two had to move though a young male waiter tried to help me /assist me in transferring me. I said thank you but I
don't need his help. I hesitated to sit down on the new dining area but I was "PISSED
OFF , so I left the restaurant alone with my cane and of course, I ask the door lady /waitress to talk to the manager . Did she ever answered me? Of course NOT. Unexpected situations like that, they looked so surprised. My husband was just being nice that he waited for the food and paid for it, otherwise,If it was me, I would walked out and not pay my orders as it was after 15 minutes.. An answer to this review- My tip-Do not make customers make a "merry go around " dance just to make money for the day. Also, ask everyone in the group if they are all willing to move. I would not recommend Max's of Laoag anymore., neither will I go back to dine. This was such a discourtesy and VERY BAD customer service.. Please have all staffs to have "in service" and be sensitive to the needs of People of disabilities.(POD) Little is known in this city..
One good thing was that security guard that day. He led us to that far away parking place and when he saw me, he ask my husband to move our car next to the front steps of the restaurant. This I would commend him for being sensitive. Give him a raise...

Fast, cheap Chinese food done Philippines style. It's sister company., Jolibee, could learn a lot about quality from this place. These Chow King places are everywhere clean and comfy but the décor is Maccas Chic. Fresh semi-interesting fast food. Happy.

We went here for dinner.
The ambience and decorations of the place were just amazing! Parking though is quite a problem if there are a lot of people eating.
The food we ordered were pinakbet pizza, poque pizza, fondue, dragonfruit ice cream and some pasta. Overall, the food was tasty and had interesting taste. The ice cream was really creally but didnt taste much like dragon fruit.
The staff though werent attentive.
Its an affordable and classy place if you pass by laoag.

Breakfast is complementary if you stay, one free breakfast per night of lodging. Then late night, I tried the dragon fruit ice cream and ube ice cream as well. The first one was great, the latter not something to write home about. Saramsam's Poque-poque is not for the virginal palate but a real Ilocano treat indeed.

Food is great and price is really affordable. The place isn't known to so many tourist because they do not advertise, but the tricycle drivers would know the place. Simply tell them to take you to this place.

We had our first decent meal here when we arrived Ilocos. We ordered Crispy Dinuguan, Imbaliktad (Half-cooked beef with Bile juice), Baby Back Ribs, and Bagnet Pinakbet. All taste great served with Iced cold Coca-cola. Servers were nice and attentive so you could really feel their hospitality there. When we were about to leave the place, three music men serenade our table and sang Ilocano songs. Overall, experience and food is great and awesome. Surely a decent and fancy place to have lunch or dinner when you visited Laoag.

Food: Ordered Spicy binagoongan, poqui poqui, bagnet and inihaw na pusit on a late night. Loved the spicy binagoongan and ice cold beer!
Location: Along the highway. Stayed in a hotel just opposite this restaurant so it was quite convenient for me.
Parking: Ample parking space, restaurant is within the gasoline station property
Service: Good service by friendly staff.
Ambiance: Lively atmosphere, music and TVs played simultaneously. No problem with that as I was there to dine only
Value: Affordable
