Assolutamente consigliato.

Structure in wood with large windows surrounded by a beautiful park. In summer you can enjoy a wide veranda behind the trees and the lawn where there are the games for the kids. Our kitchen serves delicious traditional and non. Ideal for banquets and celebrations in general. Specialty grilled meats cooked at sight. All accompanied by an extensive wine list especially Montepulciano and Trebbiano d'Abruzzo. Our goal is to offer a service that gives our guests the pleasure of spending a wonderful day of relaxation and taste.
We (4 adults and 4 excited kids) stopped here for lunch en route from Rome to Abruzzo. We had a fantastic, relaxed meal. Each course was generous and extremely flavoursome. The excellent service and flexibility to provide meals for an eclectic palate was very much...MoreThank you Steve, it has been a pleasure for us having you and your family in our restaurant. Tipical local products, Arrosticini della migliore qualità e bruschette farcite con prodotti assolutamente unici e prodotti dai familiari del titolare
I dared to travel to Laquila, to see for my self the destruction caused by the earthquake.
I stumbled upon this small but characteristic abruzzoese restraunt. It mainly specialises in lamb "arostichini" grilled lamb skewers. They are delightful, small, mouth watering, melt in your mouth lamb skewers grilled to perfection. Between the two of use we devoured 50 of these little skewers. You can order them in groups of 10 pieces but believe me that will not be enough even for a small eater. Great local wine and a warm felt atmosphere. If passing this town definitely worth trying the lamb skewers.

An ideal venue for the social dinner of a conference. Spacious, set in a beautiful valley with social-friendly architecture. The meal was superb, but rather forgettable and the service a tad slow.

Enoteca, cantina, pub, bar, punto di aggregazione
The warm atmosphere, extraordinary wine selection from top level to uncommon wine. What I disagree: that on sunday it is closed, and also in a part of august. But this the owner'sphilosophy

we found Re Gatto quite by accident after doing some "earthquake tourism" in the historic center of L'Aquila. Speaking of that, there's not a whole lot going on yet. Mostly construction and ruins, only a few bars and restaurants open. Seems like nearly nobody lives there yet, most of the Neighborhoods where people lived are deserted and likely years from being rebuilt.
In any case, Re Gatto is just outside the walls, adjacent to the famous Fountain of 99 Spouts. There is a small indoor room with an even smaller cantina adjacent to it, jam-packed with wines. Outside is a patio with a splendid view, though in the summer you may have to contend with some pesky flies. Beyond the covered patio is a grassy area, an outdoor bar, and a grilling area. It looks as if it might host wedding events, but we were told it does not.
We showed up in the afternoon. Though we were quite a bit early (the TripAdvisor listing says they open at 11am, but that is only for drinks; lunch is not served until 1pm), we were greeted in a very friendly manner by both the waitress and the cook, who put together for us a small appetizer to nosh on along with our local craft beers while we waited for lunch hour to arrive.
The menu is quite eclectic; a typical Italian restaurant's menu is composed mainly of local specialties. Instead, Re Gatto dares to venture into other regions, as well as put a twist on local dishes. I ordered potato gnocchi in tomato sauce with burrata and a small bowl made of frico (fried grated parmesan, which originates in Veneto). It was absolutely delicious. My dining companion ordered mezze maniche ("half sleeve" pasta; short and cylindrical, not quite an inch in diameter and about 1.5 inches long) in carbonara with asparagus. Also very very good. We did not try any of the meat dishes, but the secondi features everything from braised suckling pig with lemon potatoes to beef filet with lardo di Colonnata or with poppy seeds. There's also a duck dish and several variations of goat. In short, the menu takes traditional Italian fare and adds a twist to it.
For dessert I selected a granita di vino Montepulciano. It is not alcoholic but it was very refreshing and light for a warm summer afternoon. Came with chunks of pineapple. My dining companion chose the babà, which my dining companion who loves babà (I don't) raved about. (NB: we have never been to Naples!). Came with a dense cream and strawberries.
I highly recommend giving it a try! The cook is very friendly and enthusiastic, we look forward to returning to Re Gatto and are very pleased we gave it a shot!

Super casual, super friendly, super good place for a nice lunch. Great, fresh, local ingredients and wines and a friendly ambience are things this place has in spades. Started with fantastic ravioli with spinach, one set topped with a meat ragu and the other with butter and sage, simple and delicious, Segued to grilled radicchio stuffed with scarmoza and prosciutto. Add some lovely wines from Abruzzo and you're having lunch.

The restaurant is located right next to the Fontana delle 99 Cannelle. We were treated to the Aquilana Tasting menu, which consisted of a sample of 14 different appetizer, main course, and dessert items. What a wonderful feast ! The Lonzino served with truffle olive oil and sliced parmesan cheese was a special favorite of the group.
